Hopper is 8.5 lb long haired chihuahua. He is so sweet and just wants to cuddle and play fetch. He is seven years old. We are heartbroken to have to get rid of him but due to our son’s allergies we cannot keep him any longer. He is very low maintenance! Loves to nap! Should go to a home with maybe a retired couple or someone with no kids. He does fine with ours but does not handle other kids well- as he is so small, he nips if a child is a little rough. He is very shy and timid but a complete sweetheart. He likes to bark, though!

ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED! MACK is a darling little senior dog looking for a home. This sweet boy is around 13-14 years old and 17 pounds. He is a chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund) type mixed breed boy. Despite his age, little Mack still has plenty of pep in his step and loves to go out for walks. He's an affectionate little fellow who would be happiest as someone's constant companion. Mack loves to carry around soft stuffy toys and REALLY wants to play with his foster brother even though his foster brother is just not interested. Mack needs a little time to warm up to new people. He was adopted from SDHR back in 2013. He and another senior dog landed in a shelter after being found as strays. We suspect his human passed away and he was dumped. He seems to have been well loved over the last 12 years before his life was turned upside down. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Mack is scheduled for a much-needed dental work and his cherry eye will be repaired. His bloodwork looks good, he's a healthy boy other than those two correctible issues. Donors have also sponsored his adoption fee, but a donation would be gladly accepted. Mack seems accustomed to the quiet life. He is best suited to a quiet adults-only home with another friendly dog. If you'd like to meet Mack, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. Mack will not be attending adoption events. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. CHIARA is a sweet slightly timid little mixed breed girl looking for a home. Chiara appears to be a chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund) type mix, with a few other breeds mixed in. She's about 1 year old and fully grown at 16 pounds. Chiara landed in a rural shelter with her daddy Aldo. Chiara is leggy and slender, her dad is shorter and stockier. She could have a little rat terrier in her breed mix, maybe some corgi and who knows what else. Chiara isn't as confident as her daddy, we think she's best suited to a home where she will have a friendly dog to help build her confidence. She loves food and treats and toys. Chiara is good with people and other dogs and ignores kitties. If you'd like to meet Chiara, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. Oreo was found living in an open 4X6 pen where he had spent the entire 14 years of his life. He had never been inside or to a vet until we rescued him. He is very sweet and a lovebug. He has not had any accidents in the house, great with cats, dogs, and kids and walks very nicely on a leash! He has damage to his eyes from exposure and will need to be on eye drops to lubricate his eyes the rest of his life as his eyes no longer produce tears. He is going to have a dental as his teeth are horrible poor guy! He is also overweight and will need to be on a healthy weight dog food.

You see, I was on a mission to dig to China from my backyard. I dug and dug until I popped up in the neighbor's yard. They were having a barbeque, and I thought, 'Why not join?' Turns out, they weren't as welcoming as I'd hoped. So, here I am, ready for new adventures with you. I'm a great listener, a superb comedian, and I promise to be the most loyal friend you'll ever have. Adopt me and let's make our own fun stories together! I'm a very outgoing boy and love playing with my kennel mates and friends. I am a little hesitant when I first meet people because I'm not sure if I can trust them. I need a quiet home where I can take my time to build confidence and trust. As you can see, I have a cherry eye.
