You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello there. My name is Penelope, I came in with 10 other chihuahua mixes. I am a shy and sweet little girl that follows the other dogs around- I'm a follower, not a leader. I have a very sweet nature and am very loving to my person. That being said, I am a one person dog. I am friendly with people once I get to know them, but when I bond to my person, that is the only one for me. I would make a wonderful companion for a single person who is looking for a super sweet girl to worship them- I will shower you with all of my love and attention.  It does take me a little bit to warm up to someone, but when I do, I'm yours. I am dog and cat friendly, but would be fine with other animals, or as an only pet. I am Spayed, fully vaccinated, combo tested (Negative), and also current on my preventatives. Buck was surrendered to the shelter on 10/18/2024 with his friend Dixie. They have been getting into trouble and running off, so they had to be surrendered. They just need a little bit of training and taught their boundaries a little better, and they'll be great dogs. They are currently a little nervous, but so sweet and love to follow us around. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. If you would like to add Buck to your family, his adoption fee is $150 with an approved application.

TIPPIE, 9-30-24, male chi/beagle mix, ~14.8yo 14#, SEIZED w/Bella. Tippie came into the shelter in late September with Bella as part of a humane case. He was underweight and his skin was in pitiful shape after an unknown period of neglect. Gratefully, a vet visit indicated no serious health issues and his condition was expected to improve with regular care. One of our most committed fosters took him home and he has transformed there. His foster reports that Tippie does not act his age and loves to play with toys and take walks. In between, he is a snuggler and loves to cuddle on your lap. He also has an intense love for food which is no surprise after what he lived through. Although he came in with Bella, they do not need to be adopted together and he has gotten along with the other dogs in his foster home. Please don't make Tippie wait any longer for his forever home--he has been through more than enough. Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Tippie.
