Story
Dakota is a 2-year-7-month old Chihuahua mix weighing 15 pounds. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Unfortunately Dakota spent the majority of his life in a small apartment and was never housebroken. We've been working on building his confidence and introducing him to new things and adventures along with training. He's very curious and won't hesitate to meet new people, after a sniff, a treat and a slow and quiet approach, you'll be quick friends. He's very playful and enjoys tug and stuffed toys. He's very affectionate and likes to cuddle. Needs housetraining and leash manners. Does well with baths. Good with dogs his own size (Dakota would benefit from another dog in the home to learn from). Treat motivated. Fearful of cats but respects them. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Are you searching for a petite girl with big opinions? Meet Piper! Piper was born around February of 2024, and found herself at the local shelter. Since leaving the shelter, she has blossomed from a trembling skeleton to a sassy athlete. Piper loves to play and hang out with her dog friends, as well as cuddle with her humans. She bosses the big dogs around, and has no problem keeping up with them. Piper is crate trained, and sleeps in her crate at night. She is still working on potty training, and absolutely hates going outside when it's cold or rainy. Piper requires a family within 30 miles of Toledo. She could live in a multi-dog home with a yard, or an apartment with daily walks. Due to high volume, inquiries made on petfinder and adoptapet will not be answered. Meet Fancy & Daisy – A Bonded Pair of Senior Chihuahuas Looking for a New Home 🐾💖 Fancy and Daisy are a sweet, bonded pair of senior Chihuahuas who have lived together since they were puppies. Unfortunately, their owner had to move to assisted living and couldn’t take these two lovely ladies along. They’re now hoping to find a home where they can stay together forever! These girls are pee pad trained and have great house manners. They are both super loving and adore belly rubs – the more, the better! Fancy and Daisy are also cat-friendly, making them great companions for any household. Like many seniors, they are in need of a diet to help them stay healthy and happy in their golden years.

Story
Tank is 10 years old with no health concerns. He has been the only pet since I got him as a puppy so I am unsure if he would be ok around other pets. He does not do well with children which is the reason for needing to find him a new good home. He is an anxious dog and is used to a quiet home to relax in. He will be best suited with someone who will make sure Tank knows you are the alpha as he has an attitude when feeling anxious. He is a typical chihuahua who gets attached to his owner and will follow you around, take long naps, and beg for all the snacks. He’s a great dog with a quirky personality.

Story
SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION! Grover is an 8-year-4-month old Pomeranian mix weighing 14 pounds. He is a special needs adoption due to multiple health issues. Deaf, does not react to sound. Blind-can see shadows, and some movement straight on. Elevated AIP & ALT liver values-possible indication of cushings disease (further testing recommended). Grover is an independent gentleman, doing his own thing. He does like to be near his person and will follow you around. He enjoys walks and quiet play, not much interest in toys. He's okay with other dogs. Does not seem to like cats. He did well with Tails and Toe Beans Groomer, she hand shy around his head (most likely due to blindness). Recommend children in home be over 12 years and respectful of his space. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00.
