Story
Edith came to our rescue from a rural shelter where she had suffered from pyometria, an infection of the uterus that is 100% preventable if her previous owner had spayed her before. She has since been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines and HW-. She is a quiet house guest in her foster home, and enjoys laying on the orthopedic bed. She went to her first adoption event yesterday and enjoyed sitting in a volunteers lap the whole time! She is sweet and would be fine as an only dog, or with another nice chill dog. Please apply for this sweet little lady and give her some love in her senior years. apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
Tina Louise and Peggy Sue were someone's pets for 9 years. When they became unable to care for themselves, they were dropped off at a shelter. We rescued them because we couldn't bear the thought that these two sweet senior gals would be in a scary, loud shelter environment. Tina, the chi is partially blind but she gets around really well and loves to cuddle. She had a dental an is doing so well in her foster home. She can be with other nice dogs, or on her own. Please apply for her at apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
Scrappy and Molly Chi came to us after their human died and the family member dumped them off at the local, crowded shelter. Scrappy is a neutered, Norwich Terrier mix around 4, and Molly Chi is a spayed, Chihuahua mix around 10. We wanted to observe them to see if they were truly bonded because sometimes when situations change, those who lived together before do not care for each other in a different home. But these guys seek each other out to snuggle and sleep together in a bed at nighttime. Because of this, we need to keep them together and honor the relationship that they’ve had for some time. Scrappy is funny and energetic - he would likely do well playing with toys and fetching balls. He does well with the other foster dogs in the home. He is a fun, happy boy. Molly is a little more reserved, cautious. She is very attached to Scrappy to be her safety blanket. Molly also likes to cuddle on her terms and isn’t the kind of Chihuahua mix who likes to be picked up. These guys, because they are a bonded pair, have a reduced adoption donation of $300 so we hope you will consider giving them a stable, loving home and also giving their past person peace knowing their babies are safe. Story
Zea is a senior lady who enjoys cuddling up to her people on the couch, or better yet, right in your lap! She loves her feeding times and will get close any time someone is eating. She does well with the active foster sibling dog in her house. She's done well in her foster home with very active children around. She's already potty trained and loves slow, casual walks so she can smell everything along the way. Zea enjoys spending her days lying in the sunlight or looking out the windows. She's a sweet girl who will love her family with all her heart!

Story
Meet Miss Peggy! This senior chi-weenie gal is full of love and sass. When she's not zooming around playing with toys or dogs, you can find her somewhere sleeping under a blanket. Peggy loves her people and doesn't like to be without them. Ideally, Peggy is looking for someone who works from home since she loves being with her people so much. She's not a fan of being crated and will let you know that. While she's small, Peggy is not a good fit for apartments/shared walls since she can sing the song of her people when she is left alone. She loves to wrestle, chase, and snuggle with other dogs. We strongly prefer that she goes to a home where she can have a canine companion to be besties with. She also loves laying outside in the sunshine, but a fence is not required. She does well on a leash and loves to go on walks. Peggy is house-trained and very good at letting you know when she needs to go out. Younger kids make her a little nervous, so she should go to a home with older kids or no kids. Even though Peggy is a senior, she's quite fit. Her only "issue upon coming to us was her mouth. Years of improper dental care took a toll on her and Peggy had to have 12 teeth removed when she came to Freedom Ride. She will be good as new once she's healed from these extractions. If you and your dog are looking for a new friend, apply to meet Peggy today!

Story
At 14 years young, Etta is a gentle, easy-going southern belle looking for a loving home to enjoy her golden years. She is soft-spoken and polite. She is fully potty trained and doesn’t need a crate or pen when left alone and is perfectly content relaxing until you return. On walks, she has excellent leash manners and loves taking her time to sniff everything in sight. Etta’s greatest love in life? FOOD. You will never be alone while you cook or eat as she will be right there watching you. She gets so exuberant that she requires a slow feeder to help pace herself when she eats. Her second favorite thing? Affection. She absolutely adores being pet and will give you gentle nudges to continue petting her if you stop before she’s had her fill of love. Though she has no interest in toys, she enjoys sniffing walks, lick mats, and curling up next to you on the couch (though she’ll need a little boost to get up there). Etta would thrive in a home where someone is around often to give her the attention she craves. She seems to get along with other dogs, as long as they aren’t too hyper, but she’s accustomed to living in a home without other dogs. Given her age, a household with no other dogs or perhaps one calm companion would likely be the best fit. Similarly, Etta would do best in a home without young children, as she prefers a quieter, more relaxed environment. She’s a low-maintenance, affectionate senior with a few endearing quirks, but most of all, she has a heart full of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion to share your days with, Etta would love to meet you!

Story
Chevy, a bundle of happiness ready for adoption! If you're looking for a companion who's always happy, ready for a walk at any time, and overflowing with love, then Chevy is the perfect dog for you! This charming 5-year-old boy has a heart as big as can be. He loves everyone—humans, dogs, even strangers! For Chevy, every encounter is a new opportunity to share cuddles. Very affectionate, he adores being petted and will gladly snuggle up to you to receive some love. House-trained and well-mannered, he sleeps in his crate at night and enjoys his freedom during the day, wandering calmly around the house. He has good habits and adapts well to his environment. Walks? His favorite activity! Always up for an outing, he will follow you with enthusiasm and a cheerful attitude. And if a little treat is waiting for him when he gets back… you'll make him the happiest dog in the world! He’s a foodie but knows how to be reasonable—he'll let you know when an extra snack would be much appreciated. Chevy is also discovering the joy of toys! Curious and playful, he’s starting to have fun with them and finds real delight in exploring these new sources of entertainment. A little challenge, a rolling ball, a chew toy… everything is an excuse for a happy moment! Chevy is a loving dog, full of joy, just waiting for a family to continue sharing his happiness. He gets along well with other dogs and will fit right into a loving home.
