Story
Annabelle is special needs as she requires the use of a wheelchair. She just recently lost the use of her back legs due arthritis in her long back.I am a sweet 5 yr old girl. I am a very sweet special needs little girl. I have arthritis in my back that has caused me to loose the use of my back legs. I have recently transitioned into a wheelchair where I can really get my groove on. I can race around the yard as fast as my foster siblings can on 4 feet. My wheels are really fast. My foster mom calls me her shadow. I follow her everywhere and love lap snuggles. My favorite place to sleep is under the blankets snuggled as close as I can get to my person.I have a favorite blanket that I like to suckle and nibble on. I am vocal but not as bad as most of my relatives usually are, I’m more of an alert system. I’m completely house trained and will let you know when I need to go out. I’m great with all dogs and cats but prefer not to share my persons lap although I will tolerate it if I have to. To apply for me please visit STFFAR. Org for an online application. November 5, 2024, 4:51 pm

Story
Meet Scooter, a senior Chihuahua with a youthful spirit. He came into foster care in terrible condition, with little hair and lots of fleas, but has made a wonderful recovery! He`s a bit shy and cautious around new people, but don`t mistake his reserved nature for indifference. Scooter is independent, yet he adores the company of his fellow dogs. He`s a still weary of humans, but he`s working on it and improves every day. He trusts his foster family and has done well in social situations when they are around to support him. Inside the house, Scooter can usually be found on a fluffy dog bed or in his crate with the door open. When he’s outside he likes to find a warm sunny spot to nap in. Since he enjoys spending time outside, it would be best for him to have a fenced yard or confined outdoor space to ensure he stays close to home. He is still working on house training but sometimes it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Scooter is the kind of dog who likes to take his time, to understand his surroundings and the people in it. He is looking for a patient, loving home where he can learn to trust and be part of a family. His ideal family will understand his need for space, but also his desire for companionship, preferably with another dog around his size or with a gentle demeanor. If you’ve been looking for a low energy but adorable little guy to keep you company, right here he is! Adopt Scooter and you`ll not only gain a loyal friend, but you`ll also give this sweet senior the loving home he deserves. Scooter has been neutered, microchipped and kept current on vaccines and preventatives. You can email julianshumate@gmail.com with any questions or fill out an application here: https://humanesocietyofwilkes.org/adopt/application/julians. To ensure your application was received please email the foster home. You can expect an email response within a week of applying.

Story
Hi, I`m Xander, a 1.5 year old chihuahua mix weighing 14 pounds. My world is a little quieter, a little more reserved. I`m a bit shy, you see. New faces can be overwhelming, but give me a moment and you`ll see my gentle soul shine through. I`ve got a heart full of love, just waiting for the right person to share it with. I`m looking for a patient friend, someone who understands that trust takes time. Once I know you`re safe, I promise to be the most loyal companion you`ve ever had. Adopt me and let`s build a world together, one filled with love and trust. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application at the following link https://www.humanesocietyofwilkes.org/adopt/application/jenm or contact Jennifer at fireball7705@yahoo.com with any questions.

Story
Hi there! My name is Natasha or Tasha for short. I came from the animal shelter after I was found by someone. Everyone is guessing that I am three or four years old and weigh 11lbs. I am a shy girl at first but it doesn't take me long to warm up. It is fun to play with kids and non-aggressive dogs. Play time is my favorite but I do like naps. The rumors are true, I am a pro ball player. I will fetch a ball and bring it back to your feet for repeated tosses. I am smart like that! I think I'm even going to get an A for learning two new commands,"sit and wait". I don't always come when I am called but I am working on that trust thing. Leash walking is a breeze for me; I really know how to strut my stuff but hold the leash tight if I see a squirrel. The warm and fuzzy side of me feels that it is heaven on Earth to hop into bed with a human but if that is not okay I am great in the crate. No problem. I am housebroken but I might have an accident until I learn where I am supposed to go potty. My house manners are top-notch, I don't chew, I don't get into your things but I will steal your favorite spot on the sofa in hopes of some loving. Bunches of cuddles and love would help me overcome my shyness in no time. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Information about the process is available on our website. Remember that we do not adopt more than a 45-minute radius from our facility in Winston Salem.

Story
Danica is two years old , she loves to cuddle and nap with you. Although she is not fully house trained she does seem to understand to use the pee pads, there has just been a couple of times that she has missed it but she has been a lot better about using it when she needs to and no one is home to let her out. She does play with her toys here and there she likes the small squeaky ones. I would like for her to find a home where she would be able to run and play and cuddle with you as well. She seems to get very scared when there is very loud noises and I’m not quite sure what she had gone through before I adopted her from the Forsyth animal shelter but just try to be patient with her and assure her that she is okay.

Story
Bentley is a sweet and friendly 2 year old Chihuahua Mix. He looks like a Micro Golden Retriever. If you always wanted one, but thought they were a bit too big for your home, here's your opportunity. Bentley is 15 pounds, which is a good weight for him. His previous owner tells us that he gets along well with her female dogs, loves pepperoni and loves people. Bentley is up to date on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm disease and his adoption fee includes a voucher for the mandatory neuter and microchip.
