Story
Meet Laurie Laurie is a 2½-year-old Chihuahua/terrier mix with a sweet, fox-like face and a gentle, shy nature. She warms up slowly, but once she trusts you, she becomes a total cuddle bug who loves blankets, lap time, and even offers her little paws for pets. She’s been great with other dogs and did well around a 4-year-old child. Laurie sleeps quietly through the night (bed or crate), rarely barks, eats well, and takes her meds easily. She’s still gaining confidence, so leash walking hasn’t started yet, but she does well with a steady potty routine. Laurie would do well as an only dog or with a friendly companion—she just needs a patient, loving home where she can blossom.   Applications can be filled out at http://www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you.The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##2593624##

Story
Please note we had first listed Ollie on rehome when we found him 3 years ago. Ollie had come to us as an injured stray in 2022. He had a broken left foot, but after some time healing up, he fit right into our home so we kept him. He's fully house-trained (may mark if left unattended), likes his crate, and is happiest either cuddling with you or stretched out on a soft blanket. He loves sitting in the sun, snacking on carrots, chasing squirrels, and curling up with his stuffed animals. He's about 5 years old and roughly 10 lbs. The reason he's up for adoption is because, like a lot of chihuahuas, he can be reactive. For example if he's asleep on your lap and gets startled, he may growl or snap - so you just need to give him a heads-up before getting up. He's an alpha and can be hot/cold, almost like a cat. With a newborn in the house now, we can't take any risks. Ollie knows basic commands. He would do best as the only pet and someone who understands chihuahua behavior.

Story
Meet Tank — the blanket-burrowing comedian with a heart as big as his personality. When Tank’s loving owner passed away, his little world turned upside down. But even through the confusion and heartbreak, this resilient 6-year-old Chihuahua never lost his spark. A kind foster stepped in to keep him safe, and now Tank is ready to start the next chapter of his life — one filled with comfort, stability, and plenty of snuggles. Tank is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He recently met a cat and stayed calm and polite, proving he’s just a little gentleman in a tiny package. He may try to talk you out of going in his crate but once he’s inside, he settles easily. Still, his true happy place is under a pile of blankets — burrowed into your lap, tucked behind your knees, or occasionally perched on your pillow like a tiny, furry crown. He’s affectionate, silly, and full of personality, but never in a way that overwhelms.  Tank dreams of a quiet home where he can be the center of cozy evenings and soft routines. He’d love a calm household with other friendly small dogs and no children, and most importantly, a human who appreciates a good snuggle and a warm blanket.   If you’re looking for a tender-hearted companion who will love you with every ounce of his tiny body, Tank is ready to make you his whole world.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue if you are interested at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Please mention where you live: city and state!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 9, 2025, 10:15 pm

Story
Meet Cheyenne — a delicate, dear-head Chihuahua with a heart as tender as her tiny 9-pound frame. At just three years old, she has already experienced more upheaval than any little dog should. She spent her life cherished by her mom, but when her owner became disabled and had to move in with friends, Cheyenne came along… only to be told she could no longer stay. It shattered her mom’s heart and left Cheyenne confused and frightened.   Cheyenne has lived a very sheltered, indoor life, and the changes of the past few months have left her understandably nervous. She needs time, patience, and a gentle hand to learn that her world can be safe again. Once she feels secure, she’ll quietly lean in, allow soft pets, and even offer a tiny kiss to show her trust.   This sweet girl isn’t demanding—she’s simply sensitive. She finds comfort in calm environments and absolutely needs another friendly dog in her new home. Having a canine companion gives her confidence and helps her settle. She loves cuddling with her dog friends, and in her foster home, her favorite cozy spot is tucked under a blanket where she feels warm and hidden.   Cheyenne is never aggressive or mean with other dogs, but energetic puppies are not her cup of tea—they’re a bit too lively for her peaceful spirit. What she truly wants is a patient, loving adopter who understands that trust is earned gently over time.   If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal little Chihuahua who will adore you once she knows she’s finally safe, Cheyenne may be your perfect match. With a secure, loving home, she will blossom into the devoted companion she’s meant to be.   Cheyenne is healthy, ready to go, and so deserving of her happily-ever-after.Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to meet this precious girl.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 14, 2025, 11:46 pm

Story
Meet Griff — a gentle, lap-loving little shadow who just wants someone to call his own. When Griff’s elderly owner passed away unexpectedly, his whole world shifted overnight. One moment he was loved and adored; the next, he was facing uncertainty with no one familiar to turn to. Thanks to a compassionate Good Samaritan, Griff never saw the inside of a shelter. Instead, he was brought into a foster home where he’s been slowly unwinding, taking deep breaths, and learning that he’s still safe. Griff is 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. He even recently met a cat and didn’t react at all—such a good little gentleman.  At heart, Griff is a loyal shadow dog. He adores routines, finds comfort in his crate, and loves nothing more than curling up in your lap or settling beside you where he can feel your warmth. He’s sensitive, steady, and thrives in a calm, predictable environment where he can truly relax. Griff is hoping for a quiet, peaceful home—one without children and ideally with another gentle, small dog who won’t overwhelm him. His Chihuahua quirks only add to his charm, and once he trusts you, he loves you with his whole heart.  This sweet boy is ready to bond deeply, settle in fully, and finally feel safe again. If you’re looking for a soft, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Griff just might be your perfect match.
