Katie found herself as an owner surrender to a full rural shelter. Poor girl was so terrified and confused.  She is approximately 8 yo. She is now safe in foster and is iso her real forever home. She is housetrained and pee pad trained. Good with cats and dogs as well. She is spayed and in generally good health.  She does need to lose a few pounds but who doesn't.  Her perfect home would be a quiet home where her people are home most of the time.  ##2259265##

Kirby is a sweet affectionate little man. He seems to bond closely with "his person, but he isn't a fan of a busy household with lots of visitors. Kirby would make a great companion for adults who spend a lot of time at home and would like a lap dog and napping buddy to keep them company. He might be fine in a home with older/teenage children, but young kids are a bit much for him. He has been fine with both the cat and the dog in his foster home. He is working on being a "house dog and will need owners who will be patient with him and work on teaching him some doggy basics while he gets used to his new home. He's a sweet little guy who will love you forever if you give him the chance.

Zea is a senior lady who enjoys cuddling up to her people on the couch, or better yet, right in your lap! She loves her feeding times and will get close any time someone is eating. She does well with the active foster sibling dog in her house. She's done well in her foster home with very active children around. She's already potty trained and loves slow, casual walks so she can smell everything along the way. Zea enjoys spending her days lying in the sunlight or looking out the windows. She's a sweet girl who will love her family with all her heart!

Meet Miss Peggy! This senior chi-weenie gal is full of love and sass. When she's not zooming around playing with toys or dogs, you can find her somewhere sleeping under a blanket. Peggy loves her people and doesn't like to be without them. Ideally, Peggy is looking for someone who works from home since she loves being with her people so much. She's not a fan of being crated and will let you know that. While she's small, Peggy is not a good fit for apartments/shared walls since she can sing the song of her people when she is left alone. She loves to wrestle, chase, and snuggle with other dogs. We strongly prefer that she goes to a home where she can have a canine companion to be besties with. She also loves laying outside in the sunshine, but a fence is not required. She does well on a leash and loves to go on walks. Peggy is house-trained and very good at letting you know when she needs to go out. Younger kids make her a little nervous, so she should go to a home with older kids or no kids. Even though Peggy is a senior, she's quite fit. Her only "issue upon coming to us was her mouth. Years of improper dental care took a toll on her and Peggy had to have 12 teeth removed when she came to Freedom Ride. She will be good as new once she's healed from these extractions. Lily is a sweetheart of a puppy! This little lass has spurts of puppy energy but is just as sweet as can be. She's happy to sit on your lap, waits patiently for her leash before going out, and is fully potty trained. While she doesn't just run in the crate, she will go with some encouragement and does perfectly well there. She loves playing fetch and squeaking her rubber ducky. Her favorite playing position is sprawled on her back. More than anything, though, this little girl loves to give kisses. And did we mention she has the most adorable little underbite??

May need to eventually use a wheel chair due to arthritis in her backI am a sweet 5 yr old girl. I came to rescue via a vet visit. My owner wanted to euthanize me because I was in pain and he couldn’t afford to take care of me. I went into rescue to hopefully get better with medication. It was determined that I have DDD in my back (degenerative disc disease) for about 2 weeks I lost the use of my back legs. I was then placed in a wheelchair which I mastered quickly. My people had come to except that would be my life going forward. Boy did I fool them cause I determined that was not the life I wanted. First I started briefly walking on my knees then I slowly started standing up and taking a few steps. Next thing you know I’m running everywhere. My legs are still too weak to jump or stand up on my hind legs but my place is to always be in a humans lap to snuggle so I’m building those muscles back up. My fosters showed me so much love and patience I just wanted to be better.. My foster mom calls me her shadow.and her bed mole because I like to dwell under the covers. I follow her everywhere and love lap snuggles. My favorite place to sleep is under the blankets snuggled as close as I can get to my person.I have a favorite blanket that I like to suckle and nibble on. I am vocal but not as bad as most of my relatives usually are, I’m more of an alert system. I’m completely house trained and will let you know when I need to go out. I’m great with all dogs and cats but prefer not to share my persons lap although I will tolerate it if I have to. To apply for me please visit STFFAR.
