Story
Bubbles is a 11 year old, 14 pound Chihuahua mix. Bubbles is an older chi who loves taking walks and taking naps on her fluffy bed. She is house trained, crate trained, and doesn’t mind other dogs as long as she gets her walks and pets. While Bubbles is low energy, she still likes to get out to the play yard and to walk a few times a day. She will go and jump near the door when she is ready. She is a pro at walking on a leash.  Bubbles has overcome some hurdles in the past, but seems to be well adjusted and ready for her forever home. She would probably do best in a mature home with teenagers or adults. She connects to females easier than men.  Bubbles prefers slow movements while you are working on her trust. She can be food reactive and should be fed separately from other dogs. Please consider opening your heart to love this precious deserving senior lady. She has also had a low grade cancer mass removed, there is a slim chance of it returning.  This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.    November 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Jett is a 1 year old, 11 pound, chihuahua/terrier mix. Jet is a delightful young boy with typical puppy energy!  He absolutely loves his toys and running around the yard !  He has tons of energy so he's ready for big adventures!   Jett would do fabulous with an active family.  He's a little guy who enjoys the company of other dogs and people alike.  Sometimes he gets a little carried away with his foster siblings, but he takes the hint quite well after being put in his place!  He holds no grudges!  On the flip side, he loves to cuddle on the couch for a good Friday night movie and he sleeps very well!  He is almost 100% housetrained and is working hard on leash training and is doing well.  He was born w/ small malformed eyes, but he is able to see.  There is no treatment, however, his eyes will need to be monitored by a vet regularly.  He doesn't let it slow him down! If you think Jet would be a good fit for your family and would like more information, please apply online at Dog Adoption Application - CrisisDogsNC to be considered. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Karma is 1.5 years old, 17 lbs., and a Chihuahuas mix.  Karma came to as a very scared dog. She is learning what it is like to be part of a family that loves her and will keep her safe. For Karma all new experiences are scary. She is decompressing but is still a timid dog. She gains more confidence every day, and in time we think she won't be afraid of car rides, and that she will make a good walking companion. We are starting to see her goofy personality, she is great on a leash, she is working on basic commands, her potty training is going very well, she is starting to show an interest in toys, and likes chew sticks or a Kong. Karma enjoys food and works for treats but will shy away if she believes you are unhappy with her. She is agile and can jump a baby gate. A six-foot fenced yard is preferred. Karma is also a very smart dog and seems to learn fast. Karma does like cuddling with people and other dogs.  She sleeps well in a crate or in the bed with her people. She has a laid-back temperament and does well with all dogs, although she has not been tested with dogs larger than her. and she is good with kids ten and over but, she has not been tested with large dogs or cats. She does get anxious in a crate when she is left alone, and she has managed to get out of the crate a few times. Karma does well in the house when left alone as long as all food on the counters has been put away. Karma has so much potential and would make a great addition to a family that understands her fears and insecurities and can help her become the best dog she can be.  Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Brownie is a 10 year old Chihuahua that weighs about 8.3 pounds. A spirited opinionated Senior Chihuahua, Brownie would be great as your only dog . He is housetrained and crate trained and would enjoy a fenced yard that is very secure. When he is walked he is fine with a secure harness. His foster writes, “Brownie is a sassy boy who is excited to go out for walks but spends a lot of his day snoozing under the blankets. He enjoys short periods of play and cuddling, but appears to get overstimulated easily. He is very independent, is very well-mannered, and does fine alone in the house. He has a short attention span for cuddles and play at this point. He loves food time, and is protective of his food, so definitely no children.” Brownie has a dominant personality and can be bossy so he needs an owner familiar with chi’s who will love him and give him clear expectations for his behavior! This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog's description.
