Story
Dobby was picked up as a stray by his local shelter.  At first with strangers, he might try to bite, but give him a day or two and then he is usully fine.  He warms up slowly, but when he knows you he likes to be petted and will sit on your lap. He will keep you entertained when he  dances on his hind legs to get a treat.   This is what his foster mom said about Dobby:  "I've been keeping little Dobby while Jan (Jan's Animal Rescue) has been on vacation. This little fella is so cute and smart. He does need time to get adjusted to a new place. He would be great for someone that's at home alot and has no small children. He would also need a slow introduction to another dog. Preferably one close to his size. He's crate trained, potty trained, walks great on a leash. Once he gets used to his new person and his new environment, he's a great lap dog." He is wonderful little dog and deserves a loving home so that he will never have to worry again about being safe, or where his next meal will come from. For more info contact Jan's Animal Rescue. ##1790571##

Story
May need to eventually use a wheel chair due to arthritis in her backI am a sweet 5 yr old girl. I came to rescue via a vet visit. My owner wanted to euthanize me because I was in pain and he couldn’t afford to take care of me. I went into rescue to hopefully get better with medication. It was determined that I have DDD in my back (degenerative disc disease) for about 2 weeks I lost the use of my back legs. I was then placed in a wheelchair which I mastered quickly. My people had come to except that would be my life going forward. Boy did I fool them cause I determined that was not the life I wanted. First I started briefly walking on my knees then I slowly started standing up and taking a few steps. Next thing you know I’m running everywhere. My legs are still too weak to jump or stand up on my hind legs but my place is to always be in a humans lap to snuggle so I’m building those muscles back up. My fosters showed me so much love and patience I just wanted to be better.. My foster mom calls me her shadow.and her bed mole because I like to dwell under the covers. I follow her everywhere and love lap snuggles. My favorite place to sleep is under the blankets snuggled as close as I can get to my person.I have a favorite blanket that I like to suckle and nibble on. I am vocal but not as bad as most of my relatives usually are, I’m more of an alert system. I’m completely house trained and will let you know when I need to go out. I’m great with all dogs and cats but prefer not to share my persons lap although I will tolerate it if I have to. To apply for me please visit STFFAR. Org for an online application. December 13, 2024, 2:07 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Gizmo and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.  If you can't adopt me, but would like to help, please consider making a donation to AAMR in my name to help with my extended needs in foster care.Gizmo is special.  He needs special care, lots of patience and lots of love.  Special pups need special heroes. Mr. Gizmo is a big personality in a little body!  He was surrendered by an owner to a public shelter. They had him for several years after they found him inside a dumpster … so we know his life has been a mix of really good and awful.  He is happy to be out of the shelter and into foster care because he really does want to be near people. A typical Chihuahua, Gizmo has some ‘small dog syndrome’ issues … because he has been allowed to behave badly.  He is a typical chihuahua barker and will not be the best apartment/condo/townhome resident. He wants to be with and near people, but only on his terms.  He protests loudly when you try to pick him up.  He will growl and sound very vicious and, yes, he will bite. He is also on an anti-anxiety medication which has seemed to help a little.  If you talk sternly to him, he will show his teeth and growl.  We see a pup who has been allowed to ‘bully’ his people, and it is going to take to take a strong, determined, consistent new adopter to help break these bad habits.  He is a toy hoarder and will guard his food so he will not be the best companion for another dog that likes to play with toys.  And, it is quite a challenge to get a harness on him to go for a walk, so having a fenced yard is a 'must' for him.  (Small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential damage to the trachea.)  This boy sure needs a wonderful family to love him and help him become a happier boy.  Are you willing to be the hero who gives him a chance? Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2014 Weight/size: 9 lbs Housebroken:  YES (as long as you can get him outside often) Crate trained:  YES (he is not a fan of being crated, but once he is in, he is fine) Personality: cautious, curious, big personality but wants to be boss, vocal (a great alarm system) Energy level:  medium to low ... he is busy trying to watch everything in every room, but he isn't rowdy Fenced yard required?:   YES definitely.  If he gets outside a fenced area off-leash, he will be a flight risk.  He should never be off-leash outside unless he is inside a securely fenced area.  Getting a harness on him to go for a walk can be tricky (he does like to bite), but small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential trachea damage. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES Social with cats: Cats get his attention and he would love to chase them. Good with children:  NO CHILDREN. Adoption donation:  $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Gizmo picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 1:59 pm
