Meet Barney! Professional Snuggler Seeking Full-Time Lap Position Are you looking for a roommate who doesn’t party, won’t chew your shoes, and thinks you are the most interesting person on the planet? Meet Barney! Barney is a distinguished senior gentleman who has officially traded toys for "The Simple Life." He doesn't care for bouncy balls or squeaky rubber chickens—he’s far too sophisticated for that. Instead, he specializes in: The Post-Poop Zoom: A rare, majestic burst of energy that proves he’s still got it. Aggressive Napping: Usually in a sunbeam or, ideally, directly on your lap. The "Sniff-ari": He enjoys walks, but he’s not training for a marathon. He’s there to read every "p-mail" on every blade of grass. He’s a "Velcro pup" who wants to be wherever you are. Barney is a social guy and gets along great with the whole crew—dogs, cats, and even smaller critters! While he’s happy to share his home with other furry friends, his true heart belongs to his humans, and he’ll always be the first in line for a lap session. While he’s a bit shy with strangers, once he knows you’re his person (and that you have the "good" wet food), he’s your shadow for life. If you have a quiet home, a sunny spot on the floor, and a lap that needs filling, Barney is ready to retire with you. Barney has an adoption fee of $100, if you are interested in Barnet please reach out to aareed0@outlook.com or petassist@hopeanimals.org. This is a courtesy listing, meaning this dog is not part of Hope Animal Rescue’s foster program. We cannot attest to the temperament or suitability of this dog for your home.

Story
Meet Susan — the 10 year old, 10lb brown short-haired chihuahua with a platypus-like front snoot that’s impossible not to adore. Delightfully unique, Susan is an older gal who moves at her own gentle pace (no sprints, please). Susan is an independent lady who prefers sleeping outside the bedroom, and isn’t a big snuggler — perfect for someone who enjoys a calm companion. House-trained in good weather, when it’s freezing she appreciates a pee pad. Food is her true passion — treats and meals make her world go ‘round. She’s warming up to affection and absolutely melts for ear scritches. If you want a low-key, well-mannered buddy who shows love on her terms, Susan could be your perfect match.

Meet Javier 🐾 This handsome boy is searching for his forever home and has so much love to give! Javier thrives with a good daily adventure — think 3 miles of exploring, sniffing, and taking in the world together. He walks beautifully on a leash and is a total pro in the car. After a satisfying walk, there’s nothing he loves more than curling up close to his favorite human. The perfect balance of go-getter and couch companion. Javier is extremely food motivated — which makes training an absolute joy. He already knows sit, down, shake, and touch, doesn’t resource guard, and is working on a few finishing touches like waiting at the crate and front door. With treats involved, he’s making great progress! Javier is potty trained (with some occasional marking indoors he’s still working through) and his crate training is coming along nicely. He may voice his opinions a little when first settling in, but he calms down — especially with the TV on in the background. When he’s genuinely tired, he’ll put himself to bed like a champ. 🏆 Javier is a sensitive guy who can take some time to feel comfortable in new spaces and with unfamiliar people. Patience and long decompression walks work wonders for him. Once he feels safe and loved? He blossoms into the silliest, sweetest dog — digging into blankets, rolling around, and just being his goofy self. His Ideal Home: ✅ Active individuals or families who enjoy daily walks ✅ Someone who can give him plenty of 1-on-1 attention and love ✅ Patient adopters who appreciate a shy dog coming out of his shell ✅ Small dog friendly household ❌ Very busy households where he’d be alone for long stretches Javier has so much love to give — he just needs someone willing to meet him where he is. Could that someone be you? 🐶❤️ If you are interested in Javier, click Apply for Adoption! If you're on Adopt-a-Pet or PetFinder please visit https://www.hopeanimals.org/ to apply!

Story
Bubbles is truly one of a kind. She's got a signature look and a personality to match her one of a kind eyebrows - She’s playful, quirky, and enthusiastic. Bubbles loves to follow you around the house. This queen can be nervous, especially at first. and needs a patient home who can help her feel safe. Once she settles in, Bubbles is a very sweet, and loyal gal. She may be considered a senior, but Bubbles is active and enthusiastic, especially when it comes to play time! She loves toys and equally loves curling up on the couch to watch tv. She is potty trained and crate trained. She seems to prefer wet food (will not even dignify kibble with a sniff) and a quieter home (so no young kids). She is learning to feel safe and working on her social skills. Treats, toys, and blankets help her relax and she takes a minute to warm up to new people. This little star would do best with an adopter that is committed to continuing her socialization and helping her feel safe and calm.

Story
Tito is a tiny 5.5-pound Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger story. This little survivor was originally found living on his own in the woods, and it took rescuers quite a bit of time to safely capture him. By the time he arrived at the shelter, Tito had clearly learned how to take care of himself — and he carried that “big dog” attitude right along with him! Like many Chihuahuas, Tito has that classic spicy charm. He knows what he likes and isn’t shy about letting you know. He’s currently living in a foster home with several other dogs and has happily taken on the role of the boss. Tito is looking for a special adopter who understands Chihuahuas and appreciates their bold personalities. He has been adopted twice before and returned, so we want to be completely transparent: Tito needs an experienced Chi owner who knows and loves the breed’s quirks. He does best in a home where someone is around a lot, or in a home with other small, very submissive dogs for company. Tito doesn’t enjoy being left alone as the only dog and may bark if he’s lonely, so apartment living may not be the best fit if he’ll be alone for long periods. The good news? Tito has plenty of wonderful qualities to balance out that sass. He walks nicely on a leash and has the cutest little prance when he strolls along. Even better — when he gets excited, he smiles! It’s absolutely adorable. Bedtime is Tito’s favorite time of day. Like any true Chihuahua, he loves to burrow under the covers and snuggle up close to his person to stay warm. He is house-trained and goes outside, but since small dogs have small bladders, he’s also comfortable using a pee pad. If there are other dominant male dogs in the home, he may mark, so a belly band or little pants may be helpful. Once Tito bonds with you, he becomes incredibly sweet and loyal. He’s the kind of dog who will be your constant companion — a sometimes spicy, always devoted best friend. Tito would thrive in a quiet, stable home without small children. Cats are okay! After being moved around so much, he deserves a place where he can finally settle in and feel secure. Adoption Fee: $200 Tito is fully vetted and microchipped. If you think you might be the right match for this tiny character, please reach out to mjrsince1975@yahoo.com learn more about adopting Tito! Story
Meet Pepita! Part chihuahua, part Velcro dog, part tiny potato…Pepita truly has it all. 💕 At 7 years old and just 8 pounds, Pepita is the perfect little companion. She’s potty trained, mostly crate trained, and a professional cuddler. Her favorite place in the world is in your arms...or tucked into a cozy bag so she can go wherever you go. If being held isn’t an option, she’s happy soaking up sunshine like a baked potato or burrowing under a blanket for maximum coziness. Pepita has done well meeting other dogs and kids, and her gentle, snuggly nature makes her an easy little addition to the right home. How she does with cats is unknown, but she has been know to try to chase down a bird or two. She does have a bit of a bougie side: this girl strongly prefers wet food (and honestly, who can blame her?). It may also be due to her dental health, as Pepita will need a spay, dental work, and removal of some mammary masses, all of which will be covered by the rescue. She’s already proven she’s a tough cookie and handled her vet visit like a champ, even when she wasn’t feeling her best. Pepita is looking for a forever home that will cherish her, spoil her, and treat her like the tiny queen she is. 👑 If you are interested in Pepita, click Apply for Adoption!
