Story
Meet Luna (aka Pound Cake, aka Loony Toons, aka Big Tuna), an approximately 9 year old chihuahua mix. Luna was surrendered in Charlotte by her owners due to a move. She struggled a lot in the shelter environment, defensive and too scared to let staff touch her. She was sprung from the shelter by a volunteer and within hours, she relaxed into her cuddly, attention-loving self. After some R&R in foster care, Luna is now ready to find her forever home! Luna is confident, affectionate, reliable, and an excellent companion. This gal has all the basics down - house trained, crate trained, good in the car, and great on a leash. Luna loves nothing more than a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood (she's been known to keep on trucking for up to 3 miles at a time if you let her) followed by a nap on the couch. Luna would do well as your one-and-only or as part of a pack. She's done well meeting other dogs (especially her size or smaller) and mostly carries on with her business - she's an independent lady! She tends to ignore the cats she's met. Although she hasn't met kids yet, Luna would probably prefer older, gentle kids who understand her age, boundaries, and need for a bit of extra care. Luna is a bit overweight at 18 pounds and will need help from her new family to get back to a healthy weight to ensure her golden years are her best yet. We're having her cloudy eye evaluated by a vet, but it doesn't seem to affect her vision. She can also be a bit standoffish with new people and fearful of being picked up, and would appreciate adopters who understand that time is needed to earn her trust. If you're ready for a short-n-sweet nugget of a buddy, Miss Luna is the lady for you! Apply to meet her today.

Story
Meet Emmett, a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix and blanket connoisseur. He was a very shy and scared pup initially, but he has made so much progress in such a short time and is eager to make new friends! He is house and crate trained. He doesn't love being left at home alone, but has been doing well with medication. Emmett is friendly with all dogs. He is intimidated by big dogs, but has done well when introduced slowly. He is also good with cats and chickens! Because of his missing teeth, his lips often get stuck in silly positions, and his tongue sticks out when he sleeps. He may tremble a bit, but he's a brave boy when getting medicated baths for his skin. He's lost some hair on his back end, but he looks very dapper in his sweaters that help keep him warm. Emmett's favorite thing to do is to snuggle up in his blankets. If you hold an end up, he will burrow underneath, and he loves to be tucked into bed at night. If you're looking for a new snuggle buddy with the silliest faces, Emmett is your dog! Apply to adopt today!

Story
Lucy, you got some splainin' to do! How'd you get so adorable?! Lucy is thought to be a 10-month old chihuahua mix, but her foster mom suspects she's a little bit pug too, with cute fawn ears, smokey eye makeup, a curly-q tail, and a cute little underbite giving her that sweet sweet pouty face. She loves playing and exploring outside, does great on walks, and she knows what the leash means! She also really shines as an expert level snuggler, and she is definitely a lapdog! Under the blanket is her favorite place! She is still learning how to alert for potty breaks but she has not any accidents in her crate. Her previous temp foster reported she gets along with dogs of all sizes, and would do well in a home with a canine companion. At her current foster home, she is working on her cat manners, but may be okay with a cat who has lots of dog experience (and is willing to give her a swat if it's warranted.) Her foster sister is just a kitten and is also still learning. Lucy is a lovable, playful, cuddly pup, looking for a forever lap or laps, and she can't wait to meet you!

Story
Are you looking for a little lap dog?! If so, you need to meet Coraline, affectionately known as Cora! At a whopping 6 pounds of tan sweetness, Coraline is a 12-year-old chihuahua who has mastered the art of living her best life. A certified professional snuggler, Cora's ideal day involves being held like the royalty she is, carried around in a stylish baby sling (bonus points if it matches your outfit), or cuddling in the warmest lap available. Cora has some mild issues with her heart that she takes medication for. She saw a cardiac vet specialist who thinks she is at low risk for worsening of her condition if she continues taking her medication - yay! This pint-sized pup has impeccable leash manners and adores her daily walks, proving that even the smallest legs can cover a lot of ground. While Cora loves her foster dog sibling and gets along beautifully with any dog she meets, she's not shy to let you know if someone tries to step on her tiny toes - a chihuaha's signature sass! Cora thrives in a cozy environment where she can bask in attention and affection. She's the perfect mix of low-maintenance and lovable, and she's ready to find her forever throne-err, home. Could that be with you?

Story
Meet Tippy! Tippy is a sweet 7-year-old Chihuahua mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love. Don't let her age fool you-this little lady still has plenty of playful energy to share! Whether she's lounging on the couch with you (she's the ultimate cuddle bug) or chewing on her favorite toy or bone, Tippy knows how to make every moment cozy and fun. Short walks with plenty of sniffing stops are her idea of an adventure, and she'll happily join you for a leisurely stroll. But her true passion? Blankets! Tippy is a self-taught burrito expert and can wrap herself up with precision-she might just steal your heart and your throw blanket! Tippy is wonderfully house-trained, crate trained, gets along well with dogs of all sizes, and has excellent manners. She came to us with some arthritis in her back left leg, but thanks to medication, she's feeling so much better-she's more active and ready to explore. Tippy does have a soft spot (literally!) for her meals and prefers her kibble softened with a little something special to make it extra tasty. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who can bring joy to your home and warmth to your heart, Tippy is ready to snuggle her way into your life. Apply to meet her today!

Story
I'm Wiley a Chihuahua-Staffordshire mix, and I am the whole package! I am very affectionate, smart, & brave! I live with three BIG dogs, and I'm not afraid to tell an 80 ILB Greyhound he's not playing with me enough. I'm high-energy, but when I'm tired- prepare for snuggles! I'm very food-motivated. I have three more weeks of training at All Dogs Allowed. I will need more training as I am a mix of at least two loving, but stubborn breeds and I am quite fearful of new things. I'm catching on to potty training quickly & I'm already crate-trained! My foster wants me with the best dogperson she can find. A person who is fun, responsible, commited to positive reinforcement training and ready to spoil me! Already have pets? Share your current veterinarian's contact information so my foster can confirm if your pet is up to date on vaccinations & spayed/neutered. I will only be adopted out to an indoor dog family.

Story
Meet Molly - a sweet, playful and sometimes goofy Chihuahua mix. She suddenly lost her dad, my brother-in-law, in June. He adopted her about four years ago from a man who had to leave town quickly for a job transfer. We recently brought her in for a rabies shot and nail trim, and the vet estimated she is between 7 and 8 years old. My brother-in-law cherished her deeply, and we are looking for a person or family who will give her the love and attention she deserves and has grown accustomed to. While she can be a bit timid and slow to warm up to new people, she is incredibly affectionate once she gets to know you. She likes to stay close - even right in your lap! She loves to play fetch with her favorite her toy (called Barney) and will bring him to you when it's playtime. Molly is spayed, house and potty trained, and good with other dogs. We do not know how she is with cats as she has never been exposed. Please reach out if you'd like to meet this sweet little girl!

Story
Lora Breed: Chihuahua mix Gender: Female, spayed DOB: 03-15-23 Weight: approx. 8 pounds Microchipped Adoption Fee: $400 We first heard about Lora as one of a group of stray dogs that had been dumped in a neighborhood. We were able to trap Lora and her brother, Rowan, but were unable to locate the other three dogs. While scared before being trapped, once out of the traps she and her brother proved to be happy, friendly, and lively young dogs! Both Lora and her brother had been hit by a car at some point when puppies. They had never been treated for their injuries. Luckily for Lora, her vet was able to perform surgery on her hip to repair the old damage and she recovered well! Lora runs with the other dogs in her foster home and walks nicely on a leash. She still limps on occasion, but this should get better as she continues walking and playing. Slow walks uphill help a lot with this recovery! She does not need further surgical intervention. Lora is looking for an adult home that is relatively active and will take her out on walks and adventures! She loves her people and foster siblings! She's a great companion! Story
Rowan Breed: Chihuahua mix Gender: Male, neutered DOB: 4-2-2023 Weight: approx. pounds Microchipped Adoption Fee: $400 Rowan and his sister were dumped in a Raleigh neighborhood with two other dogs. While we were able to trap Rowan and his sister, the other two dogs disappeared. Once trapped, Rowan turned out to be a wonderful little dog with a big personality! We we first saw Rowan, we noticed he had a limp. We discovered during Rowan's care that his limp was from a long ago broken femur! So long ago broken that the pieces had fused to his pelvis. Unfortunately, due to the level of damage to both the femur and his pelvis, his leg could not be put back together, despite the efforts of his vet. Ultimately, his leg had to be removed. Once recovered from surgery, Rowan forgot he ever had a fourth leg and is now running around like a mad man playing with his foster buddies! He's had to learn a lot about living in a home and is doing well. He still has more training ahead of him and we know he will find a great family to teach him! Rowan would like an active home that will take him for daily walks and weekly adventures! He likes the NC Museum of Art, the Greenway near his foster home, and Lake Johnson Park! He has also tried to stay quiet while his foster family ate dinner at Craft Public House! He's a good little trooper and will delight his new family! Evenings in the back yard enjoying the sounds of birds and cicadas, while his family chat and watch the dogs play is another joy for Rowan!
