Poptart weighs 20 lbs. and was surrendered by her previous family to a local shelter. Her foster family describes her as a medium level activity goer and she doesn’t require long walks. The key to happiness for Poptart is to be where the people are and to nap someplace warm like in front of a fireplace. She loves treats! Poptart gets along well with other dogs; she doesn’t play much but may even cuddle with them once she gets to know them well. Introductions to other dogs should be done calmly, and she doesn’t like a new energetic dog right in her face jumping or barking at her. Poptart is potty trained and has done well with older children. She isn’t a fan of being picked up and prefers to get herself into a cozy spot ready to snuggle. If warm cuddles sound like a perfect match for you then Poptart is your gal! Tanner is a 4 year old chihuahua. Trying to explain how amazing Tanner is feels impossible. He is beyond wonderful with our children, and gets along great with dogs and cats. He is the most patient and kind dog I've ever met. Choosing to rehome him is not a decision that has come lightly. We had a baby in November and Tanner is just not handling it well. I worked from home for 4 years and Tanner was with me all day every day, sitting on my lap, keeping me company. Now that I have a baby, Tanner is having a very hard time. He seems sad most days, and will try to get in between me and the baby while we play or while I'm feeding her. In addition to this, he has started marking. This is not his normal behavior, as he is potty trained. A good friend of mine took him for a week, and he didnt mark, so I am confident the marking wont continue once rehomed. If you are looking for a best friend that wants nothing more than to just be with you, Tanner is the perfect fit.

When Lola came into the rescue, she was a hefty 12 lb chihuahua. Her former owner became ill and could no longer care for her. She is spayed, current on vaccines, and preventions.  Lola is looking for a foster/adopter who is committed to helping her lose weight and getting her socialized.  Ideally, this would involve hand feeding so that she can start to build a bond with her foster/adopter. Since coming into rescue, she has lost some weight and is becoming more active.  We have learned that Lola will play with your feet and that she is a huge fan of pizza crust.  She loves her doggy bed, too! She is pee pad trained and goes to the door to poop - but won’t go outside - and prefers to use the peepad.  This girl is slow to warm up but does want to be loved. She likes attention and even talks back when talked to. She is head shy, so if you go towards her with your hand, she lets you know that she does not like that and will use her teeth. It will take a special foster/adopter who is willing to work through this issue with her.  An ideal home for her would be an adult only home.  She is dog friendly.November 6, 2024, 9:04 am
