Meet Parker! This precious little guy is 4 years old and about 12 lbs. Evidently Parker did not have a very good life prior to joining Critter Cavalry. We think he was bullied by another dog. He is a 'sit on the sidelines and watch' kinda guy who doesn't really want to play with anyone. He doesn't mind the other dogs and definitely is not mean. He would just rather be with people. Parker is super sweet and loves people. He just wants to be where his foster mom is. Parker would be a wonderful companion for someone that just wants one dog and who would like a dog they can take places. He would love that and would love to be friends with all your friends. He is just precious and very friendly. He gentlY smells you to make sure you are OK and then he is good. He was smiling during his photo shoot and seemed to enjoy all the attention. If you are looking for a loyal companion then you have found him in Parker. Parker is doggie door trained, neutered, current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped. Meet Curious Puppy Coco. This beautiful brindle boy is only 17 weeks old and 7 lbs. Just look at that face. It definitely tells you that this curious little guy will be in the middle of everything. This little boy is all legs. You just want to smile when you look at him. He is at that awkward stage in life with legs and feet going every where. Coco is a very sweet boy. He is super friendly and does not meet a stranger. He happily goes up to everyone to be petted. Coco loves other dogs and has a big time playing with his foster brothers. He is a bit of a pest to the older dogs though as he always wants to play. Coco would love to have another young brother or sister to play with. He definitely needs a companion to keep him busy. When Coco does settle down he is a great little cuddle boy and will curl up in your lap or beside you to go to sleep. This little guy is doggie door and crate trained. He walks OK on a leash but does need some additional training. He is very smart though and catches on quickly. He will be an excellent addition to the right family. Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for critter.Cavalry turquoise noticed her profile in the shelter and realize that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public. This young foster woman is making sure that Anna is gaining much needed weight slowly. She’s starting to put on weight and enjoys her meal times-with the occasional treat of whipped cream. While she is timid at first and a little wary of quick movements, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and become your best snuggle buddy. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She seems to be good with other dogs and initiates playing, though she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is catching on to potty training (another example of her neglected past) and we are wanting someone who works from home or is retired as she does exhibit some separation anxiety in her first week with us. She has found the cozy comforts of warm blankets and fluffy pillows and burrows underneath. Anna has lots of love to give and deserves a family to spoil her. The Vince we know today has already undergone such an unbelievable evolution from the one that arrived on the farm. He had an at-times snappy aversion to touch. He trembled, hid and withdrew, the results of past trauma we wouldn't want to imagine. Thanks to patience, freedom of choice, and some encouragement from his doggie friends, Vince has allowed us to peel back the layers and show his funny inner personality. If this little guy knows one thing for sure it's that he likes to stay active. After a period of familiarization with the presence of the leash and the motion of putting on said leash, Vince has grown to become quite the walking partner. He can often be found on pack walks with his head held high as he surveys his surroundings. When he's not out on a stroll, Vince can be found zipping around the play yard with his friends...though he's not quite sure how to do this whole "play" thing just yet and will happily take a break from the action to explore his environment on his own. Vince also loves his toys; it brings such joy to watch him toss them about with a jolly demeanor that can't help but make you giggle. Vince still has a great deal of learning to do in how to be a pet dog. The structure we have provided, paired with a gentle approach, has allowed him to understand where he fits in the daily routine. Though he has become quite bold in his now comfortable surroundings, we know it will take a great deal of patience to welcome Vince into an unfamiliar environment. A home that is dedicated to continuing his growth (a process that is both highly challenging and highly rewarding) would be what's needed for this delightfully playful yet still highly uncertain little guy to blossom into his fullest potential. ___ THANK YOU for your interest in a rescue dog! Gandy is a solid delightful spunky little chi mix that was originally surrendered to a southern shelter along with 5 other chihuahuas. We took them all and each one was placed in great homes! Sadly after 2 years Gandy was returned to us at Love Dogs due to personal circumstances in his previous owners life. When he first arrived back to us last week after two years in his home, he was one chunky monkey!! We welcomed him back.. he was always much loved here and he did recognize us.. naturally he had to readjust and was initially a bit reserved and cautious ( part of his nature!). He will never be a confident greeter of new people.. but he is able to and actually wants to feel safe and loved. It didn't take long for him to get into our routine and start trusting us again. Right now Gandy's days are filled with positive experiences only! Playgroups with his buddies Hopper, Navy and Ollie.. long walks around the farm property and tours into the barn to explore all the wondrous horse smells! Gandy is so affectionate and loving to those on his inner circle.. often jumping in our laps and rubbing on us like a cat for attention! He has his favorite friends and with them he gives his whole heart!! Gandy would do well in a home with a another dog or cat but children not so much! He prefers calm and gentle friends who will find it easy to give him space time and choices!! With his somewhat challenging start in life our hopeful buddy deserves a sweet happily ever after!
