Story
Meet Alvin (12 pounds), a small senior boy looking for a home (and a hula hoop) for the holidays! Alvin can be slow to warm up to new people and tends to be picky about new friends in general. Once he is comfortable with you, be prepared to have a little shadow! With his buddies, Alvin loves to be doted on, held and petted (but please don’t assume he wants your friends to do the same). Since he can`t tell us exactly what his likes and dislikes are, we are looking for humans who can read his body language and advocate for him out in the world when needed. We think his ideal home would be on the quiet side, with adults or older teens only, and without a lot of strangers coming and going. Alvin finds it challenging to share his prized items and people with other dogs, so he may be happiest as your one and only. If you think Alvin is the type of guy you`re looking for, stop by the shelter and ask to meet him! Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Cherry, a 5 yr old chihuahua-Beagle mix weighing approximately 18 pounds. Despite her rough beginning in a hoarding situation, and her fearful nature, Cherry has proven to be a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys snuggles, pets and attention from her human. She’s dog and cat friendly and would do well in a quiet home with a low key canine companion. In addition, she’s potty trained, non destructive and enjoys sleeping in her dog bed, on your lap or beside you, or snuggled up in bed with her human at night. Cherry’s best match would be in a home with a fenced in secure yard. Cherry requires an adopter that is able and willing to give her the time and patience she will need to overcome her fear of new humans, trust her adopter and adjust to new surroundings. Once you’ve gained her trust, she will reward you as a loving, protective and loyal companion. She will shower her adopter with affection. Please note she is leash and crate resistant. An experienced adopter with fearful, but non aggressive behavior will take preference. Additionally, Cherry is extremely fearful of men, so it's preferred her adopter is female and home for most of the day. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.

ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Lucía is a 9-month-old puppy who loves being snuggled. Her personality is a mix of adventurous and loving. She enjoys sleeping in the same bed as her foster. She sleeps through the night and behaves very well. Initially, she can be a bit shy, but with time, she opens up and welcomes you with lots of love. She is a bit small in size, weighing 8 pounds, and she won’t grow any bigger. As her foster, my biggest wish is for her to be adopted along with her little brother, Lolo, because they love each other so much. All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Hello there! 👋 My name’s Abby, what’s yours?? I’m a 9 lb, 5 year old Chihuahua who is looking for my forever family. I was a local surrender when my family moved and could not take me along 😢. But I have so much more love to give! ❤️ I’m such a snuggly pup, who will take all the pets, kisses and belly rubs I can get!! And don’t worry, I’ll nudge your hand and let you know when I want more 😂 I’ll even hop up and down on my back legs - I’m a really good dancer!! I’m working on my potty training and walk great on the leash. ⭐️ Now, I am a bit skittish when meeting new people. It takes me a while to warm up and know I’m safe. And nothing against men, but they scare me at first too. But with patience and TLC, I’ll let them love me too! 🥰 I am great with other dogs and cats! So what do you say?? Apply to meet me today and let’s get this cuddle party started!! 🐾

Story
Hello World! My name is Fibi Dove and look at my BEAUTIFUL hair!! I mean look at it! It is all coming in and getting longer and longer!! And I love it!! It may seem a little weird that I am so happy to have hair, but it has been a long-time coming in. Let me tell you, my story. It was a dark and stormy night in a little town in Texas.... Well, I don't really know if it was dark or stormy, but it was in Texas. Anyhow, I was picked up by the dog police in a little town and I was very naked with infected itchy skin that made me nuts. I didn't have very much hair on my body and from my looks of me, it had been that way for a long time. The rescue pulled me from the dog place, and I started on my journey to get well. They tried this med and that antibiotic and this itchy treatment and that shampoo, but nothing worked until they figured out that I am probably allergic to beef and chicken, and who knows what else. My beautiful hair started to come back in when I started eating Salmon and lentil food and getting medicine for allergies from the vet. Finally, the itches were going away!! Yay!! I also was found to have the dreaded heartworms which I have undergone the slow kill treatment for, and I am all finished with that as well. Heartworm medications will be sent with me to continue my treatment routine for a year. During my many vet visits, it was found that I have a 5/6 heart murmur that is being treated with a pet heart medicine for life. I didn't have any symptoms, but they wanted to keep my heart strong, so the medicine was ordered. Because I was on the street for who knows how long, I am a little possessive of my food bowl at feeding time. I live with 3 other chihuahuas and we all eat out of separate bowls in the same room. I will growl at the others if they finish before I do and come to look in my bowl for more. But at 7.5 pounds, I am not much of a threat to anyone, but they listen to me and back off. I also live with cats and several other non-chihuahua dogs, one is 97# and I get along with them all. Personality wise, I am very sweet to people. I love to share you bed or lap and now that my skin is healed up, it is a lot comfier for me and for you to put me there. I do know how to go in and out the doggie door and when that isn't available to me, I have been known to use the potty pads that are out for the 18-year-old chihuahua that lives here with foster mom. Because of my medical history, I will need an adopter who understands my needs and is willing to follow through with my medical routine. If you think you can put up with giving me the pills, which I love in canned cheese on top of my kibble and green beans, then please fill out an application and let's talk! I will be waiting and growing more beautiful hair! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

I.am.LEGGO!! No, not the kind you step on in the middle of the night with many expletives!! I am the GOOD kind of Leggo :) No foot pain, all love and cuddles! I am a great boy, I came from a sad situation and I am so so glad my "mom" saved me! I was left at my foster home's gate in my crate, after her neighbor fled her abusive marriage. Apparently all of my friends (4 other dogs) were killed by the abusive husband :( and I was saved..... So, let me tell you.. I LOVE my FOSTER MOM and her DOGS and KITTIES!! And GLORY is my FAVORITE friend! We are kind of bonded and we want to be adopted into a non abusive home with a really really nice family! Glory came from a neglectful situation so she loves having me around to play with and to cuddle with and I give her confidence that she needs. We are an adorable couple and we are ready for YOU! So PLEASE adopt us!! Local adoption- together- is $400 (in TX) Out of state adoption- together- is $800 (includes transport to your area)
