Story
Kivo is a little 10 pound 5-year-old chihuahua mix boy that was a stray and never claimed. He's now looking for a family and home of his very own. He is a curious little boy and can be tentative at times but once he warms up to you he will stick to you like Velcro. He also graduated with honors from lap warming school, which may come in handy this winter. If you would like to provide Kivo a loving home, here is a link to our application that you can print out, complete and email (ocadoptions@aol.com) or text (585-752-2588) back to us as a jpg. http://www.friendsoftheocas.org/uploads/3/4/7/0/34700641/interest_application.pdf Give us a call or send us a text if you have any questions.

Story
Amber is just a little doll! She is about 7 pounds and approx. 6 years old. She is so endearing, cuddling in to snuggle in your neck and wagging her little tail. What she wants more than anything else is cuddles and kisses and soft, gentle belly rubs. Amber is a quiet girl who gets along well with other dogs and cats. Because of her small size she would do best with older children. She uses potty pads at the shelter and does very well with them. Our adoption fee is $400 and unless otherwise stated all dogs and puppies have been spayed/neutered, 4DX tested(if age appropriate), Put on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked and flown from Puerto Rico. For more information on adopting please email madrescueofwny@aol.com and fill out our online application at https://form.jotform.us/70927213338153

Story
The smallest of dogs can fill a heart with love and healing. This cute little guy hopes for your love and healing. Target (or Tarzshjay) is an adult neutered male Chihuahua mix found as a stray. He needs hip surgery and he needs you. VFA will pay for all of his medical care. He needs a foster or adoptive home to provide recovery care. Love is the greatest healing therapy and Target hopes for yours. If you have love and care to share, please contact us at info@vol4animals. org Target has had his surgery and is currently recovering in a foster home.   Adoption Procedures Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.      Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.November 2, 2024, 4:17 pm

Story
Introducing Scrappy!! This little guy is an 11 year old terrier mix, 10-15 lbs and quite the cutie!! Scrappy was brought to the local shelter after his owner had passed away and found himself with nowhere to go. He was completely broken down and had little trust in humans. He needed some obvious dental work, and seemed to be in some pain. We knew we had to help this guy out and get him feeling better! After spending time in a foster home and having oral surgery, Scrappy is a new dog! He now only has a whopping 4 teeth, but is pain free! He is dog friendly and currently lives with multiple dogs in a home! They may be bigger than him, but this spunky man can definitely hold his own!! We recommend Scrappy live in a home without children! This little man is just looking for his “retirement home” to relax in! Please contact us if you’d like to set up a meet and greet! petstophererescue@gmail.com

Story
Sharky 🦈 is a rescue from a local shelter and looking for his perfect forever home. 💙 This little guy was found running scared downtown and picked up by animal control. Poor little guy was petrified at the shelter 😢 and OFR saved him. 😍 He is around 1 year old and 5lbs. Sharky is sweet, shy, and playful. 🥰 He is potty trained to use pee pads and will sleep in his open crate inside his pen. He is learning to enjoy the outside and how to just plain dog in this big world. 🤗 Understandably, Sharky will take a few days to warm up to new people and places. Sharky’s perfect home will be with someone who will work with him while learns he's safe with you. He also would like to be your only pet and due to his anxiousness, no kids. If you're ready to show Sharky how great life can be 💙, apply below! He can't wait to meet you!

Say hello to Gunny! 😊 He is a senior love, around 9 years old and an owner surrender. When he arrived to OFR, he was malnourished. 😥 Foster has been working with him to put on a few pounds. Gunny is housebroken and crate trained, but not currently using a crate. He LOVES food and treats! 🥰 Gunny takes a little bit to settle into his new home, but then he is your bestie! 💙 He is the perfect snuggler! His foster says Gunny gets so excited when she gets home. When carried, Gunny will nuzzle his head into her neck. 😍 He is extremely low-key, great in the car and LOVES toys, especially the squeaky ones! 🤗 He's also a fan of lunch dates and pup cups! 🤭💙 Gunny has a neurological disorder which gives him a little wobble. He does not require any assistance or medication for the disorder, just lots of love! 💙 It doesn't hold him back, but hard floors can be a bit tricky. Blankets and runners will help him to move along! 😘 The disorder does prevent him from jumping. He is dog, cat and kids over 9 friendly, due to his disorder. To meet this love, looking for his forever home, apply below!

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 8 or 9 years old according to the vet I have seen, and am in pretty decent health although a little on the chubby side. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. Foster mom also has an 18 year old chihuahua, and sometimes I use her potty pad to potty but I love to go outside too! But with the new floors in the house, she makes be wear a belly band when I am in the living room! How embarrassing. Foster Mom noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I had worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy gave me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I got the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. The heartworms are all dead and gone, and I am done with all the treatments now. So I am free to travel anywhere I want to. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State adoption fee with $50 temporary fuel surcharge.
