Story
Rocky is a nearly 6 year old chihuahua mix who was transported to Town and Country from Texas with his two fur siblings after their owner relocated over seas.  Rocky is a tiny guy so we will be focusing on optimizing his nutrition.  Rocky adores his fur siblings and seems to follow the lead of his more dominant brother, Benjamin.  As is typical for his chihuahua personality, he is a playful and vocal guy.  He has not been particularly interested in toys but loves to snuggle into his blankets or curl up in a human lap.  He may need a structured routine once adopted into a home so that he can perfect his potty training.  He will likely need patient, supervised introductions if he's adopted into a family with resident dogs or cats.  Rocky is ready for a new beginning and eager to meet his forever family. The adoption fee is $300 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2308635##

Story
Bertha is a 5 year old 18 lb chihuahua pug mix who was transported to Town and Country from Texas with her two fur brothers after their owner relocated over seas.  Bertha is a sweet girl with a playful personality.  She loves human contact and is very affectionate.  She has not shown a lot of interest in toys but does like to cozy into her kennel blankets.  She is a bit overweight so she'll be starting a diet and getting needed exercise with daily walks.  Within their pack, she tends to follow her brothers' lead, taking on the role of the more submissive sister.  If adopted separately, Bertha may need patient, supervised introductions to other dogs and cats.  It's unclear if she's done well with children.  She may need a structured transition into a home so she can perfect her potty training skills. The adoption fee is $300 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Story
Benjamin is a 5 year old 20 lb chihuahua pug mix who was rescued with his two fur siblings after their owner relocated over seas.  Benjamin seems to be the ring leader for this pack of three pups.  First impressions find him to have a typical chihuahua personality--a playful, sweet cuddly guy who loves human attention but also has a bit of a feisty side and does not hesitate to use his voice as a powerful tool.  He is interested in short play sessions with the right toys and loves to burrow in blankets.  He is overweight and has started a diet and will be hitting the trails getting some needed exercise once the weather improves.  With the cold temps, he's been hesitant to use the outdoor side of his kennel for pottying and has had a few accidents off his indoor potty pad.  So, his family may need to set up a structured environment to optimize his potty training when he transitions to a home environment.  While these three amigos adore each other, it's possible they may hesitate to welcome other dogs into their world without slow, supervised introductions.  Benjamin, in particular, has been sending some warning signals to other dogs in neighboring kennels.   The adoption fee is $300 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Story
Jerry is absolutely the sweetest dog and really just needs someone to be his best friend.  He is a senior Chihuahua mix (b. May 2012), who was brought to Muddy Paws through a partnership with the Artemis Project - an Arkansas-based animal rescue. After Jerry came to Omaha, he was adopted and spent about a year and a half with someone.  His owner became ill and can no longer care for him.  We need your help to find him a special home to live his best life.  He is a sweetheart and is friendly with other small, laid-back dogs his size (no big dogs!).  He has done well around other small dogs and cats/kittens in his foster home. Jerry really needs to be with someone that will not be gone for long hours of the day.  He would be happy going places with you, on car rides and even for walks in a dog stroller.  If you are working at home, he will be at your feet napping all day.  He really does not like to be left home alone.  He would make an amazing emotional support dog for someone and appears to be very good with people, although young kids should ease into petting him. A few things we've learned about Jerry: He needs a home with a yard rather than apartment living. He will benefit from being with someone that can let him outside every few hours. Belly bands work well if you’re going to gone a few hours. He does well with a meal and potty break schedule. Since he’s an older guy, he needs stairs or a ramp to get on the couch (he has minimal depth perception and gets a little anxious since he can’t jump up). Jerry is a toothless fella, so he'll need a home where other resident pets are friendly, easygoing, and happy to have another senior friend around.  He is a little overwhelmed by small children, but would be okay with older kids in the home.  One of his favorite things to do is spending time curled up with his person!  If you're looking for a sweet little cuddle man, this senior guy might be the one for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jerry is $325. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1410898##

Story
This sweet girl was an Amish puppy mill surrender. She does seem fairly comfortable in the house and is learning more every day in foster. She did well for her groom and bath and seems great with other dogs. She ignored her foster cat. She seems to use a dog door well and is very sweet. She is currently fostered in Sioux City and will come with free bathes for a year if your local!
