Story
ChooChoo Miniature Dachshund Spayed Female 13 years old, 12 pounds Meet Chewy, affectionately nicknamed ChooChoo! She was loved by her previous owner, who resided in an assisted living facility, but when ChooChoo was diagnosed with diabetes, a variety of factors led to her being surrendered. We were told our beautiful girl is a Chiweenie (dachshund/chihuahua mix), but she definitely looks and acts more like a mini dachshund. ChooChoo is 13 years young and loves everyone she meets. In foster care, she resides with another senior dog and a cat. ChooChoo is a shy, quiet girl that loves walks in the morning, time to roll in the grass, stopping to smell the flowers and a nap in the afternoon. She is a low-key pup that would do best in a home with another dog to follow around. She does enjoy children, but we think she would prefer a home with school-aged kids or no kids. After all, she’s in her senior years and deserves a quiet place to nap. A work-from-home person or retiree would be ideal since ChooChoo does get anxious when left by herself. She gives so much love that you might not want to leave the house, but you definitely won’t know what you did without her. We will provide coaching on how to manage her diabetes, which is easier than you might imagine. If you do want to go on vacation, no problem! Her current foster family is willing to keep her while you are traveling. If you are unsure about the care diabetic dogs require, please submit an application or email the rescue at: info@NebraskaNoKill.org and we will call to discuss. Suggested adoption donation: $200.00  October 21, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Finnley Chihuahua Neutered Male 5-6 years, 7 pounds Finnley is a long-haired, neutered male chihuahua seeking a quiet home due to the passing of his previous owner. He’s almost 6 years old and he weighs 7 lbs. He is sweet, shy and content to sit next to you on the couch for some petting. Although somewhat timid, Finnley is also quite friendly, just not the most confident. He will play with other dogs, but would probably prefer they snuggle next to them. Finnley is both house trained and crate trained, but he hasn’t been in a crate for quite some time because he was  rarely left alone. He seems to like having a fenced yard but he is also leash trained and would enjoy walks in a quiet neighborhood. Since he is fearful of loud noises like thunder and fireworks, we think a low-traffic home would be ideal for Finnley. Adoption forms available at nebraskanokill.org. Suggested adoption donation:  $300.00  November 13, 2024, 7:58 pm

Story
Have you ever had an underbite melt your heart? If not... meet Scooby! This little fella's a Chihuahua mix, just over 5 years old, and 15 lbs of pure love. He's as sweet as can be and would love to find a calm, laid-back home where he can finally settle in for the long haul! Over the past couple of weeks, Scooby has been getting used to his new environment and routine. He's just about potty trained (only a couple of accidents here and there) and the resident dogs have helped him learn the potty ropes in his new place. Scooby is enjoying his daily walks and has excellent leash manners. He also loves car rides so if you're a cruiser, well, you've got a match right here. Scooby gets anxious and startled by loud noises and fast movements so, for this reason, we think a kid-free home would be best. Right now, Scooby has a couple of senior canine roommates who are gettin' fussy in their old age, but this easy-going boy takes it in stride. He's used to sharing space with other small dogs so we think he might enjoy having another relaxed, friendly dog in the home for company. Scooby has been experiencing some separation anxiety so he's taking a very low dose of Trazadone in the mornings to help him relax while you're away. The Trazadone has been working well for him and, with time, we hope he can be weaned off so he can just be relaxed and know you'll be back home soon. We've also learned that Scooby is an excellent climber, so if you think a baby gate or a chain link fence is gonna keep this boy boxed in, well, you got another thing comin'! He's fine as long as someone from his human family is outside with him, but potential adopters will need to be vigilant about keeping an eye on Scooby while he's outdoors.... think about it as a chance for you to get some fresh air too! Scooby bonds strongly with his human(s) so a work-from-home situation or a family that has plenty of home time and love to share would be perfect for this little guy. We'll continue to share updates as Scooby offers up new info about himself and his furever needs... The suggested adoption fee for Scooby is $365.  Bullies-N-Beyond is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation that is 100% volunteer operated. Adoption donation fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. All dogs adopted through BNBR will have been administered their age appropriate vaccines which may include DHPP, Rabies, Lepto and Bordetella. All dogs will also be adopted out as already altered if of age, for those not of age, a voucher will be provided. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BNBR does not adopt on a first serve basis.
