Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Barrel is a 10-year-old neutered male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix with a tan coat and a heart full of love. Weighing just 8.4 pounds, this little guy is house-trained and uses a doggy door like a pro. Barrel is scheduled for a dental cleaning and an ECG to ensure he’s in tip-top shape for his forever home.   Personality: Barrel is a certified cuddle bug! While he can get a little anxious when being picked up, it’s only because he’s so excited to be loved. He’ll wag his tail and do a little happy dance but might run off if approached too quickly. With patience and a calm demeanor, Barrel will come right to you if you kneel down and extend your hand. At night, he loves snuggling up between your legs and burrowing under a blanket for warmth.   Favorite Things:      •      Soft, squeaky toys      •      Quiet, cozy spaces      •      Cuddling with his favorite human   Ideal Home: Barrel thrives in a calm, quiet environment. He experiences anxiety with loud noises and gets nervous around young children, so a home without kids or with older, respectful ones would be best. He hasn’t been around cats, so it’s unknown how he would react.   What He’ll Give You: Barrel will love you unconditionally and shower you with kisses. His gentle nature and love for cuddling make him the perfect companion for someone looking for a low-energy, loyal friend.   If you think Barrel could be the snuggle buddy you’ve been searching for, apply to adopt him at Tired Dog Rescue . He’s ready to find his forever home!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2025, 12:56 am

Story
NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Bentley! This sweet boy is a dachshund mix who is being surrendered by his family because they can no longer provide for him. He’s 1.5 years old and around 15 ish lbs. He is a sweet boy but is a little timid meeting new people but opens up quick. He’s great with other dogs and does well in the house. He will complete his vetting 5/1/24 and will then be adoption ready.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 Meet Dixie! She is part of a hoarding situation we helped the Mobile county shelter with. Dixie is an adorable chiweenie mix. She is 12ish years old and 6 lbs. She’s a bit timid at first but wants nothing more than a lap or a comfy fluffy bed to nap in. She’s recently had a dental and lost most of her teeth so her precious little tongue sticks out. She’s utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained.
