AVAILABLE AGAIN 💔😔 *SPECIAL HOME REQUEST* Lucy came to us from a shelter partner so she could live in a foster home as she was an owner surrender and used to living in a home. When she went to the vet we learned that she has kidney disease. She will be a hospice adoption. She's currently doing well but we are unsure if she will continue to do well for 6 months or 3 years. Lucy loves short walks, belly rubs and anything to do with food. She will sniff the whole kitchen over while you're cooking just in case you might drop one little piece. She says being on a diet is for the birds. She also *might* make this really cute snorting sound when looking for food. She is good with dogs, cats and kids. Lucy loves cuddling with you and will let you know if you stop too soon on her belly rubs. She's a very quiet girl and was living in an apartment previously. Lucy's past owner did have her using potty pads and we currently are using diapers. Lucy also enjoys going for car rides and short walks. If you think you can give her a retirement home please reach out today.

Story
Hi! My name is Seymour I’m a 6-month-old Chihuahua mix, weighing about 13 lbs, and I’m a big fan of snuggles! I love being close to my people and enjoy spending time with my foster dog siblings. I also do well with children who are gentle with me. Cats? They confuse me a bit, but I don’t mind them at all.I’m looking for a home with a safe, fully fenced yard where I can play and explore. I also require lots of hugs and kisses—and I insist on sleeping under the covers in your bed. I’ll happily use a crate when you’re not home (I’m told it’s for my safety), but when you are home, I want to be right by your side.I love wearing cozy sweaters and fleece jackets and look pretty adorable in them, if I do say so myself. You may notice that I’m missing of one of my back feet. I was either born this way or had an injury when I was very young—but it doesn’t slow me down one bit! Sometimes I walk or run on three legs, and other times I use all four. The vets say it’s callused and causes me no discomfort. I run, jump, and climb stairs just like any other pup.If you’re searching for an energetic little snuggle bug, I might be your perfect match.Oh—and I almost forgot! I am fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.Could I be the one to complete your family? My adoption fee is $350.00. Please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com if you have questions about him.  If you would like to apply for Seymour, please visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org.  March 9, 2026, 5:54 pm

Story
We are now accepting applications on Diesel!   This little Diesel engine is 10 yrs old & 8 lbs.  Don't let his age fool you!  He is quite spry & runs around with dogs 1/2 his age just fine!  Diesel is a velcro dog & really just wants to be adored by his person all day long.  He is dog friendly but would also be fine as an only dog.  He can be cat tested if needed.  Diesel is doing fantastic with house training; he'd do best with a regular potty schedule.  There may be some potty accidents as he adjusts to your schedule but he wears belly bands like a champ!  He does fine in a crate as well.  We were told Diesel was around children in the past.  He can get nippy when he is scared so children 12+ who know to give him space when needed should be fine.  He will need slow intros to new people. Diesel walks well on a leash.  He does not need a fenced in yard but should always be kept on a leash when outside.  Diesel is a happy & healthy boy with a lot of love to give!  If you love chihuahuas as much as I do, he will be a great addition to your family.  Applications to adopt are at www.trackingintheshadows.com.  Please live within 1 hour of Elkhart, Indiana.  Diesel's adoption fee is $150.  He is fully vetted for 1 year, neutered, microchipped, & on monthly preventatives.  He also recently had a dental with 15 extractions so keeping up on his dental hygiene is a must. Once approved, we will set up a day/time for you to meet Diesel.  Please be ready to take him home within 1-3 days after application approval. *We do not accept electric/underground fences. All dogs & cats in the home must be spayed/neutered & up to date on core vaccines & preventatives in order for your application to be approved.* ##2679072##

Story
Chico, 10lbs, Male Chihuahua mix, may only love one person — but he will love them with his whole heart. When Chico first came into rescue he was extremely overweight and struggling to move comfortably. He couldn’t navigate stairs, couldn’t really play, and life had become very small for him. Since then, his foster family has taken his health journey seriously and Chico has already made incredible progress. He’s now navigating stairs, playing with toys, and showing the joyful personality that was hiding underneath all that extra weight. Chico forms a deep bond with his person and becomes a loyal little shadow. Once Chico decides you are his human, he will happily follow you from room to room, celebrate your return home with enthusiastic zoomies, and settle in beside you for cozy evenings. His favorite place in the house is the couch (as you can see in his photos). Like many Chihuahuas, Chico can be cautious and a little grumpy with new people at first. With patience and time, Chico forms an incredibly strong connection and becomes deeply devoted to his person. Being chosen by Chico is something special — once he trusts you, he will shower you with the love only a tiny, loyal Chihuahua can give. Chico does well with other dogs but should not live in a home with cats. Chico does not require a fenced yard, but he should always be leash-walked outside. Don’t let his short legs fool you — Chico is quick and has shown a bit of an escape artist streak in play yards. Chico will crate for short periods of time, though it isn’t his favorite. In his foster home Chico is typically left out during the day and has very few accidents. Like many small dogs, Chico does best with a consistent potty routine and regular opportunities to go outside. Chico would thrive in a home where his person is around often and can enjoy the companionship of a devoted little sidekick. Story
Jake, a 10-lb long-haired Chihuahua mix, is a sweet senior gentleman with plenty of spunk left and a big heart ready for his forever person. At 10 years old, Jake is the perfect blend of relaxed companion and cheerful little sidekick. He’s a quiet, easygoing dog who enjoys the simple things in life — leisurely walks, car rides, and spending time close to his people. Jake gets along well with cats and enjoys playing with dogs his own size. He would likely do best in a calm home with an older person, a couple, or a family with older children who will appreciate his gentle nature. Jake is housebroken and very well-mannered in the home. He recently had a dental and lost several teeth, so he prefers wet food, though he can also eat small kibble just fine. He’s also currently working on his figure and could benefit from losing a little weight — something that will come naturally with regular walks and a healthy routine. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily ride along on errands, join you for walks, and curl up nearby at the end of the day, Jake may be your perfect match.
