Name: Rex Gender: Male Breed Guess: Chihuahua Mix Age: 5 years old Weight Guess: 8-10 pounds Cats: Yes Children: No Dogs: Yes, requires a dog companion. . Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $350 Hello! I'm a timid guy who takes time to bond with people, but I promise I'm worth the wait! I recently lost my person of many years and I'm still feeling a little sad about it. Right now, I find the most comfort in other dogs - I do great with cats, but having another dog around gives me confidence and makes me happy. I understand that people take care of my needs, but for now, I prefer bonding with my four-legged friends first. I need a quiet and patient home because quick movements and loud noises can scare me. I'm still working on potty training - I know to go outside, but I need a good schedule to avoid accidents. Speaking of the outdoors, I love being outside, but I'm an extreme flight risk. I need someone who is slow and gentle with me, but can also react quickly if I become spooked. A fully fenced in yard is ideal, but even then, I should be leashed at first - if I run, you will have a hard time catching me! When it comes to food, I'm a bit picky. Dry food isn't really my thing, but wet food and hot dogs - now you're speaking my language! Once I start to trust you, I absolutely love car rides, especially when I can look out the window and take in the world around me - just no wind in my face, please! I'm harness trained rather than collar trained as my uniquely shaped head makes it too easy for me to slip out of a collar. I'm crate trained and my crate is my safe place. If you have a loving heart and a whole lot of patience, I might be the perfect dog for you. Just remember that I won't bond with you right away but give me time, and I just might surprise you. I've been at the ARP since 2/24/25 and am currently in foster. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Budgey Budgey is a Male Chihuahua Mix DOB: February of 2022 Adoption fee: $150.00 I am quite the character. I am friendly, curious, and playful. I may be a little nervous at first, but I am just looking for a warm lap to climb into. I do not like this cold weather and am trying my best to be patient for the warmer weather. I am very vocal or some may say talkative. I am a bit of a toy hoard but with a little coaxing I will share, temporarily. I should do well with another dog pending a meet and greet. I do like to snuggle with Hercules. I love my comfy bed and can’t wait to get into a home so I can claim my spot on your couch or bed. I should do well with cats with a slow introduction. I would do my best with a physically fenced yard. I do follow people well but can have a mind of my own. It will depend on previous experience.

Story
Hi! My name is Gisela. I am a 5 year old, 9 pound chihuahua mix. I was in a high kill shelter in Texas, but now I am in Michigan and looking for my forever home. I would love a home where I can be with my person as I love to sit in with my person and snuggle! I can be a little bossy to other dogs but I take correction good and am fine with them. I don't know on cats as I haven't been around any. I am protective of my home and will alert you of someone at the door. I do bark at noises. I like to sleep in bed with you under the cover and since I am small I would do better without young children.. A fenced in yard would be nice, but if no fence I can walk on a leash. I am housebroken, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines. I'm crate trained but I do fine not being crated. My adoption fee is $300.00.If you are looking for a small snuggle buddy I'm your girl. If you have any questions about me not answered in this bio, email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com or to fill out an app to apply for adoption, please visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org.March 22, 2025, 4:24 pm

Story
SPECIAL NEEDS...SEIZURES Beans is looking for a specialhome Beans was found as a stray and never claimed. This little guy is 2 years old and weighs 7#. He is a little Chi mix with some spice thrown in.. Although he is small he is mighty. While Beans can be a little sass butt he knows how to turn on the charm and be sweet and snuggly. While I've been fostering Beans he has had a few seizures. Mostly they have been when he is worked up. Being little and bossy can add up to  butting heads with dogs that are also bossy. He then suffered a seizure. Due to the length and frequency of his seizures it was determined that he needed medication to help prevent further seizure activity. Beans has responded well to his prescription of Phenobarbital. This drug is commonly prescribed for dogs with seizures. We have had one break through seizure that was short lasting and mild compared to previous ones. The cost of his medication was $34 for 1 month supply at my pharmacy. I'm sure if you search around you might find it cheaper else where. Beans will also need to have bloodwork every 6 months to monitor his levels and kidney and liver values. The cost will vary by clinics. Many dogs with seizures can live a long happy life.  While we have covered his medical needs I feel it's important to remember that Beans is a happy, funny little guy. He does well with dogs that don't mind him being the boss. He needs a secure fenced yard and children 10 or older in the home. He is crate trained and continues to work on his housetraining skills. Currently he wears a bellyband when he is free roaming the house and doesn't mind it one bit. Does great with cats. Really he just wants to be with his people living his best life. To apply for Beans please visit www.trackingintheshadows.com Adoption fee. 200We do not adopt to homes with underground/ electric fencingAll pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention Bean's adoption fee is $200. He is fully vetted for 1 year, neutered, microchipped, & on monthly preventatives. Applications for adoption are at www.trackingintheshadows.com.  Please live within 1 hour of Cassopolis, MI or Elkhart, IN.  Once approved, we will set up a day/time for you to meet Jumping Bean.  Please be ready to take him home within 1-3 days. *We do not accept electric/underground fences. All dogs & cats in the home must be spayed/neutered & up to date on core vaccines & preventatives in order for your application to be approved.* ##2299496##
