Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Smithers, and his sister Jenny, are adorable Shiba Chi puppies.  They are happy, bouncy pups with personalities to keep you entertained.  Both are doing great with potty training and crate training.  Both have been residing with cats, big dogs and small dogs, even goats and chickens, have done well with all of the animals. mom was a Chi and Dad was a Shiba Inu / Chi mix. They are waiting for their next adventure with the adoptive family...could that be yours. Jenny and Smithers had their first vet visit and received appropriate vaccines and microchips.   Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Tuesday!  This little cutie is a 17-pound Chihuahua mix.  She is a spunky little pup that  loves to play fetch, bones that are bigger than she is, and kids; although she is skittish initially when meeting new people. She likes toys, taking naps, long walks, and sleeping in your bed! She is crate trained but only when left alone at home. She does not like to be left alone for long periods of time so would not be a good fit for someone who works all day. It is reported she does not like dog parks because it takes her a long time to warm up to other dogs. Tuesday may do best as an only dog, or possibly with another dog her size after slow and appropriate introductions. Tuesday is UTD on vaccines and already spayed.  She will be microchipped before going to her adoptive home. If you are looking for a little cuddle-bug, Tuesday may just be the one for you!     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Murray! Murray is a senior Beagle/Chihuahua/Doxie mix estimated to be about 10 years old.  He was brought into a rural OH shelter along with his two canine friends. Murray is a gentle dog and, despite his age, has a spring in his step and can run surprisingly fast.  He displays those lovable [but occasionally annoying] Beagle behaviors such as magically appearing when there is food to be had, letting his nose direct his steps...usually in haste to the tantalizing smell, lavishing his affection on humans and efforts to 'escape' his harness and/or collar to follow his nose, hence the need for a securely fenced yard.  Murray enjoy walks and does well on leash.  He also enjoys just running around at his leisure for a bit before tuckering out and taking a nap.   He sometimes takes a bit of time to feel comfortable in his environment and runs to his crate, his 'safe space', when unsure of things.  Once comfortable, he wants to be wherever his human is.  He does exhibit mild separation anxiety, but relaxes when he can see you.  He has no aggression. He requires gentle verbal correction and cringes when approached from above, which may indicated he was hit.  He would do best with another canine companion around his size as he lights up when he meets another dog.  He currently lives with a 10 pound Pom mix and loves his company.  Murray is a solid 22 pounds.   Murray has no teeth so his tongue hangs out all the time.  His whole mouth was filled with rotted teeth and all had to be removed.  He also had fistulas where his upper canine teeth were, which were successfully sutured closed.  He eats only soft foods, but still has a healthy appetite.  Murray is UTD on vaccines, had a negative Heartworm test, is neutered and microchipped.  Murray would love a retirement home where he will be safe and comfy for his remaining years. Good With Kids: No young kids Good With Other Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Unknown Housetrained: Workin’ on it Crate Trained: Yes Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes Knows Basic Commands: Workin’ on it Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate Special Needs: Physical Fence: Preferred Favorite Toy / Activity: Playing outdoors with dog pals. ARRIVAL STORY: Was relinquished by owner due to too many dogs in home. AGE / WEIGHT: 1.5 Yrs Old and 9lbs. PERSONALITY: Jake may be just 9 pounds, but inside that tiny frame is a heart waiting to blossom in the right hands. At about 1.5 years old, this sweet, soulful boy has already been through more than most pups ever should. Jake spent his early life in a home with too many dogs and not enough human love to go around. Despite that rough start, he’s learning every day what it feels like to be cherished — and he's ready to keep learning with you. In foster care, Jake has discovered the pure joy of playing tug with his dog pal Remi and the hilarious thrill of burying his favorite treasures in the yard. While he’s still working on a few basics like housetraining and commands, he’s already showing us his gentle, quiet spirit. You may never hear his unusual bark, but you’ll see his personality shine in the small moments: a tail wag in the yard, a happy trot beside his dog buddy, or a shy glance that slowly turns into trust. He’s a handsome mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, Mini Schnauzer, Pomeranian, Toy Poodle, and a sprinkle of a few other breeds — a true one-of-a-kind companion! New Home: Jake is looking for a calm, patient home — ideally with a woman and another confident dog who can show him the ropes. He can be a little fearful, especially around men (he never really got to know them before), but he’s never shown any aggression. With time, understanding, and lots of love, Jake will reward you in ways only a dog who has truly learned to trust can. If you have experience with shy or unsocialized dogs, and your heart is open to watching a once-nervous little boy learn to feel safe, Jake will be your greatest joy. CONTACT: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website for the date and time of the next adoption event. Arrangements can be made to meet a dog outside of adoption events after an application is submitted and approved. Our adoption process includes an application and in-home meet-n-greet with the dog. -Adult Dog Adoption Fee - $250 -Senior Dog Adoption Fee - $125 -Pup Adoption Fee - $250 plus $50 spay/neuter deposit refunded upon proof of surgery by 6 mos.
