Story
Empanada is known affectionately by her foster parents as "Chi-Chi". She is a sweet little 11lb chihuahua who loves her humans. She loves to lay in bed with her humans but also loves to play with her toys. She is very much a protector of her human, typical fiercely loyal chihuahua. She would do best as an only pet or with a home without cats. She likes playing with dogs, but will assert dominance, so submissive dogs are preferred. She is good with children. She is working on perfecting her potty training. She is crate trained. Emmy is finishing up heartworm treatments in Lansing, MI and will need to restrict exercise until she is rechecked in the Spring. Emmy didn't have the easiest start to her life, but she is enjoying rescued life so much. She is the sweetest dog and would be a wonderful addition to your home! She does better with women than men, so being adopted to a female is recommended. A home with a patient man who understands it will take time to trust would be considered. We are dedicated to carefully matching each rescue animal with the most suitable homes. Our adoption process includes an initial adoption phone interview, reference checks, vet checks, a thorough application review, and opportunities for meet and greets. Please note that we have a policy of not adopting dogs expected to exceed 50lbs to individuals living in apartment or condo settings. We are firmly against declawing cats and only endorse adopting our feline friends as indoor cats. If you're interested in meeting one of our wonderful pets, we kindly ask you to complete an adoption application. Alternatively, you can explore the rewarding experience of becoming a dog or cat foster parent. This provides an excellent opportunity to interact with various personalities and animals before committing to a long-term relationship. For comprehensive information and access to all our adoption applications, please visit our website at www.happyfeetpetrescue.com. Story
Button Button is a Female Chihuahua mix DOB: May 25, 2024 Adoption fee: $225.00 I hope I will grow into my ears, but they really do add to my cuteness. I am not as demanding as my siblings, but I am also not as forward about getting attention either. I will need a little more work in the trust category with new people. I will require a physical fence or a secure area to be outside. I am not leash trained and will need help adjusting to leash walking. I would do my best with a person, couple or family with small dog experience. Children should be older or have been raised around small breeds. Pending a meet and greet, I may do well with another dog. I should be fine with a dog friendly cat. If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

Story
Pinky Pinky is a Female Chihuahua Mix DOB: November of 2023 Adoption fee: $150.00 I am a very sweet little girl. I currently weigh about 6 pounds. I am full grown and have typical Chihuahua characteristics in a shelter environment. I am nervous but want to love you. I am timid, but I want to sit in your lap. Big dogs are loud, but I can be just as loud for your attention. I would do my best with someone who is able to get down to my level to get to know me. I would do my best with a secure fenced yard or area which is escape proof for a little one like me. I should do fine with other dogs my size, pending a meet and greet. Children should be older in my new home, visiting grandchildren should be fine as long as they are respectful of my size.

Story
To apply to adopt, complete an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ATHM/Dog Bud is a very special little guy! His mom can't from a hoarding case and he was born into our foster home. He was rhe runt of his litter and has always been a tiny little guy. Bud began experiencing seizures when he was about 12 weeks old. He was put on medication and has done very well since. He has been seen by Blue Pearl Neurology and he does not have epilepsy - he will need medication for his entire life but is a happy and healthy puppy. He has been socialized with dogs, kids, cats, and even rabbits! He is a very well rounded puppy and would like the very best home! Due to the overwhelming number of inquiries and messages, we do not have the ability to respond to each and every one of them. If you are interested in a puppy/dog, please apply to adopt All dogs are vaccinated age appropriately, spayed/neutered, on flea tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and microchipped. We do not require a fenced yard (excluding case specific dogs). However you must have a plan to keep your dog safe and contained which can include an electric fence. We require all dogs be kept on heartworm prevention year round for their entire lives after being adopted. We do not allow force training (prong, shock, choke, or pinch collars etc).

Name: Parker Breed Guess: Chihuahua Mix Age: 4 years old Gender: Male Weight: 14 pounds Shelter Temperament: Sweet and Friendly Children: Good Cats: Can test upon request Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $350 Likes: Going on walks, pets on his rear, and snuggles The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
