Story
Hi, I'm Millie. Are you looking for a new best friend? Need a snuggle-buddy? My favorite thing to do is to snuggle with my person.I would love to be the only spoiled dog in your house, although I don't mind small dogs or cats.I LOVE children, as long as they are gentle.Come meet me soon, won't you?Love and snuggles,Millie Her foster parents are Rebecca K.    The adoption fee for Millie is $250.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Millie. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. The Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offers a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it! Name: Edward Breed Guess: Chihuahua Mix Age: 3 years old Gender: Male Weight: 4.3 pounds Shelter Temperament: Friendly Children: Unknown Cats: Can test upon request Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $425 Edward is not at the shelter yet. He will arrive from Mississippi on 11/03/2024 and will be ready for adoption by 11/05/2024. If you're interested in this sweetheart, please fill out an application today! The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Button Button is a Female Chihuahua mix DOB: May 25, 2024 Adoption fee: $225.00 I hope I will grow into my ears, but they really do add to my cuteness. I am not as demanding as my siblings, but I am also not as forward about getting attention either. I will need a little more work in the trust category with new people. I will require a physical fence or a secure area to be outside. I am not leash trained and will need help adjusting to leash walking. I would do my best with a person, couple or family with small dog experience. Children should be older or have been raised around small breeds. Pending a meet and greet, I may do well with another dog. I should be fine with a dog friendly cat. If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.
