Story
Spearow is a young Chihuahua mix, born appx March 2022.  He is looking for a new home because his owner became sick and is unable to care for him.  He is fast and athletic.  He loves to go on walks and loves being outside!  Spearow is unsure of new people, but will snuggle with you on his terms.  He's a sweetheart and will put his head in your hand so you'll pet him and give him belly rubs.  Spearow is not a fan of big dogs, but he has participated in dog play groups at NHS and should be okay with smaller dogs in the home.  He does not get along with cats.  Spearow sleeps in a pet bed in his foster mom's bedroom and he likes to have a blanket over him.  Spearow will need a quiet home with people that have experience with Chihuahuas.  He is very protective of his food, space and belongings, so it would be better for him if there are no children in the home.  He prefers women to men.  Spearow is a little guy weighing in at appx 10 pounds, so he won't take up much space!  If you have a lap to share, Spearow just might be your guy!   The suggested adoption donation for Spearow is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Adoptions for Spearow are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Jerry is absolutely the sweetest dog and really just needs someone to be his best friend.  He is a senior Chihuahua mix (b. May 2012), who was brought to Muddy Paws through a partnership with the Artemis Project - an Arkansas-based animal rescue. After Jerry came to Omaha, he was adopted and spent about a year and a half with someone.  His owner became ill and can no longer care for him.  We need your help to find him a special home to live his best life.  He is a sweetheart and is friendly with other small, laid-back dogs his size (no big dogs!).  He has done well around other small dogs and cats/kittens in his foster home. Jerry really needs to be with someone that will not be gone for long hours of the day.  He would be happy going places with you, on car rides and even for walks in a dog stroller.  If you are working at home, he will be at your feet napping all day.  He really does not like to be left home alone.  He would make an amazing emotional support dog for someone and appears to be very good with people, although young kids should ease into petting him. A few things we've learned about Jerry: He needs a home with a yard rather than apartment living. He will benefit from being with someone that can let him outside every few hours. Belly bands work well if you’re going to gone a few hours. He does well with a meal and potty break schedule. Since he’s an older guy, he needs stairs or a ramp to get on the couch (he has minimal depth perception and gets a little anxious since he can’t jump up). Jerry is a toothless fella, so he'll need a home where other resident pets are friendly, easygoing, and happy to have another senior friend around.  He is a little overwhelmed by small children, but would be okay with older kids in the home.  One of his favorite things to do is spending time curled up with his person!  If you're looking for a sweet little cuddle man, this senior guy might be the one for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jerry is $325. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. Story
Meet Huey, an adorable 4-pound Chihuahua with a big personality! This pint-sized pup adores snuggling under blankets and enjoys leisurely strolls. Huey's charming nature makes him the perfect companion. As responsible pet owners, we've realized our household of multiple pets, including three seniors, combined with our busy schedules, prevents us from giving Huey the dedicated care he needs. He's generally quiet, only alerting us when someone's at the door or another dog barks outside – making him an excellent little watchdog without being overly yappy. Huey's potty training is coming along nicely; he signals when he needs to go out by heading to the door. We're still working on getting him to vocalize his needs, but he's a quick learner! This little guy is a true head-turner. Wherever you go, be prepared for admirers to flock around, eager to meet and pet your tiny companion. Huey would make an ideal adventure buddy for someone with more time to devote to his care and companionship.

Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Skeeter is a two year old female Chihuahua who loves to play with all the resident dogs in her foster home and toys. In fact, she will coax you to play even if you’re not all that interested. She is still working on potty training. A resident dog or two is a must! She goes in her kennel when she sees us getting ready to go out. She does prefer to cuddle in foster Moms’ arms at night. Skeeter is very timid around new people and it will take time to warm up but the wait will be worth it. Skeeter will need a patient adult-only family who will allow her to progress at her own pace, and a securely fenced yard (flight risk) with a resident canine companion. The suggested adoption donation for Skeeter is a minimum of $125 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
Georgie, an adorable mix of Chihuahua, Boston Bulldog, and Pittie, was born 9/6/2024.  He was the smallest of his litter, but there has never been anything small about his personality.  When he is feeling feisty, he takes on hia foster sisters in comical ThunderDome style, and it is so funny to watch.  Georgie loves to be held like a baby and be snuggled, and this smart puppy already knows his name.  He will be a prefect addition to a very lucky family. The suggested adoption fee for Georgie is $415.  Bullies-N-Beyond is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation that is 100% volunteer operated. Adoption donation fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. All dogs adopted through BNBR will have been administered their age appropriate vaccines which may include DHPP, Rabies, Lepto and Bordetella. All dogs will also be adopted out as already altered if of age; this for those not of age, a voucher will be provided. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BNBR does not adopt on a first serve basis. All available dogs are adopted based on the needs of the dog since we want to provide the dog with the home that fits it best. ##2219483##
