Story
Looking for an already housetrained little black dog who will brighten your days for years to come? Consider Taurus. Taurus is an 18 month - 2 year old, 17 pound, neutered male Chihuahua/Min Pin/Yorkie mix (DNA tested). Taurus is a fun guy who may take his time to get to know you. He will then want to be your friend, go for walks with you, zoom around the yard whenever possible, perch high on a couch pillow while you watch TV or work on the computer & sleep in your bed (under the covers much of the time). Taurus is cautious when meeting new people. Taurus would love bonding & learning with his best friend while taking training classes. Our limited experience observing Taurus’s reaction to small children leads us to recommend a household without younger children. Taurus would consider a canine playmate a plus. He likes all the dogs he has met. The more time Taurus has spent with the dogs in his foster home, the more he has enticed them to play with him. A small dog secure FENCED yard is a must. Quick Taurus loves to roam & survey his domain. His preferred activity level is higher than average. Taurus is housetrained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on heartworm, flea & tick preventatives. Our vet’s exam showed Taurus to be 18 months to 2 years old & in excellent health. Taurus may not be a health food nut, but he considers broccoli as good as a few of the treats he has been offered. Oddly enough, although a chewer of sticks outside, we have not found a crunchy treat Taurus wants. He has favored several varieties of the soft ones. Taurus's adoption fee is $500. If you’re interested in Taurus, first you may want to see him in action & learn more about him on his public Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61566382906267) or search on Taurus of Heather’s Foster Dogs. If then you’re even more interested, then go to heathersfosterdogs.org. Using the menu at the top of the page, click on “Adoption Application.” Complete & submit an adoption application online. You will be contacted after it is forwarded to Taurus’s foster grandpa. No meeting will be scheduled before he has had an opportunity to review an application. *** Foster Location: South suburbs of Chicago. Please no applications outside the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area (within 2 hours) ***

Story
Meet Sally, a 2 year old, 8 pound Chihuahua mix. Sally was dumped at a local animal control when her family no longer wanted her. Why she was dumped I have no clue since she’s a great girl. She was of course extremely scared and confused. But you would be too if you had no clue why you were being left in a noisy place with strangers. We promised her we will find her perfect forever family where she will be loved and treasured for the rest of her life. So far she has liked everyone she’s met. She even liked a gentle child. With this being said, if you have kids they need to be gentle with her and respectful of her space, also over the age of 8. Sally is housetrained with reminders. Sally loves to be held & loves car rides. She just wants to always be with you. Just so you are aware. Sally is a bit of an escape artist. A small dog SECURE fenced yard is preferred for her. For walks she ALWAYS needs to be on a leash so she doesn’t run off and get hurt. Sally gets along great with the other small dogs in her foster home. She is, however, not fond of large dogs as she is afraid of them. There are times she can get a bit bossy with another dog but with a firm no she then does fine. Though not required, Sally would like to have a doggie playmate. Sally is spayed, vaccinated against distemper/parvo, rabies & bordetella. She is heartworm negative & on heartworm & flea preventatives as well as microchipped. Sally’s adoption fee is $495. You must complete and submit an adoption application before a meeting with Sally can be scheduled. The application serves as a basis for a conversation. If you believe this wonderful little girl is for you, then go to heathersfosterdogs.org. Then click on Adoption Application in the menu at the top of the page to find our electronic application which serves as the basis of a conversation. Submit it & you will be contacted. No meetings will be scheduled without a reviewed application. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Under normal circumstances, we serve only the greater Chicago metropolitan area.***

Story
Sweet little senior chihuahua who has been through so much. She found herself at animal control and we quickly swooped up this gentle senior girl. Bobbi needed the majority of her teeth pulled and had a broken jaw. After recovering from surgery, she needed ANOTHER surgery to remove mammary masses. This girl is all healed up and just the loveliest little girl! She gets along with other dogs and can’t wait for someone to look at an older girl with so much love to give!

Story
FOSTERED IN: Oak Forest, IL 60452 ESTIMATED DOB: 2017 WEIGHT: 8 lbs KIDS: Visitors Only DOGS: Yes, Calm Only CATS: Unknown HISTORY: Pickles came to us from an Animal Control Facility. ABOUT: Pickles is a special little girl who will need a very special adopter who is willing to manage her heart condition. (See more below) Pickles is such a sweet little girl. She can be a little apprehensive of new people at first but after a few moments she wants everyone to give her love and attention. Pickles has a special affinity for men! Pickles will bring love and joy to any home that adopts her. Pickles is housetrained, does well in the car, and walks well on leash. She is generally very quiet and only barks at normal dog things like the doorbell or an unusual/loud noise. She is crated in her foster home and does very well. She actually spent most of her time in her crate the first few days, so she does appreciate having a safe place to call her own. Her foster home said she is such a good, easy dog. Her foster said it is hard to remember she is sick because she is so happy and full of life. Pickles does well with other dogs, but can only be placed with calm dogs who will not encourage excessive activity from her. We also think Pickles will be best served in a calm, adult-only home due to her medical needs and restrictions. She will likely be fine with gentle child visitors. Pickles has a congenital disease called Reverse Shunting Patent Ductus Arteriosus. Her life expectancy was listed as 1-24 months on her cardiology report, but because she responded to the medication well, we are hopeful she will have a longer life span. Her foster home said the medication made a noticeable difference. Pickles is already quite the survivor at 6 years old! Her cardiology report states that ⅔ of dogs with her condition do not survive past 1 year. Pickles will need an adopter committed to her medication regimen as she receives 5 different medications. The cost of her medications is approximately $80-90/month. Her food also needs to be specific due to elevated kidney levels. She is currently doing well on Purina Pro Plan dry. Pickles is also to remain on an exercise restricted life, she should avoid heavy activity, a lot of excitement, and temperature extremes. Her adopter will need to expect to keep up with regular veterinary visits including potential future cardiology appointments if/as needed. Pickles is not spayed, and cannot be safely sedated for the surgery. Her heat cycles will need to be carefully managed. If you think you have the room in your heart and home for this special-needs girl, more information on our adoption process and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.
