Story
Bandit is a very loving, sweet dog. He is playful, especially likes to play fetch. All vet needs are up to date. He loves to curl up on your lap for a nap. His previous owner could no longer care for him. Bandit is housebroken and does great as long as you offer lots of breaks and notice his cues of needing to go outdoors. It takes him a while to warm up to new people. Bandit has some very chihuahua behaviors, he loves "his" person and will keep others away by doing a dance around the feet of the stranger and he "might" take a nip at the ankle. It's not representative of Bandit's overall super sweet and enjoyable personality. He likes to get up by your face and lay his head on you and then takes his paw and pats you on the face. Its darling, and almost cat-like. If you’re looking for a great companion, Bandit would be great for you. Bandit just had his teeth cleaned at the vet and he is current on flea and heartworm meds as well as routine vaccines. He's not a big eater, he does like treats, and he is crate trained. He is fine with other friendly dogs. Bandit's adoption fee is $350 and he's ready for adoption now. Fostered by sphil

Story
Champ came to rescue with his mom Sassy, dad Jake and brothers Chico and Tango from a loving home after the passing of their owner. Champ was very content with his brother Tango, and it was the intention to have the boys be adopted together. Unfortunately, Tango fell ill, and he was not able to recover. Champ has bounced back from the recent loss, but it would be great to find him a stable loving forever home. Champ is a little on the shy side but tends to warm up quickly. His personality and temperament are his best features! He is low maintenance, has a medium energy level, travels well, no behavioral issues or concerns, and is very obedient. Champ is a mellow companion who will be great company. Champ is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, has seen vet and is healthy. Champs adoption fee is $300 ***He qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program. *** ***ask about Seniors for Seniors***

Story
Feta Cheese was surrendered, along with his sibling Gouda, to the Muncie Animal Control shelter. Gouda got adopted, but Feta didn't. He did not do well in the shelter environment, so he came to Chihuahua Rescue. Although he was neutered in Muncie, Feta's shots were not brought up to date; we fixed that. Feta's crate training has insured his potty training! You just need to put him in a crate when he will not be supervised. He's not thrilled to go into his crate, but if you toss a small treat in there, he will go right in. He LOVES going for long walks on a leash or doing zoomies in a securely fenced backyard. He is very interested in wildlife, especially squirrels, mice, rabbits and toads. Unfortunately, he's pretty hard on them. When he's frightened, Feta can be a bit snappy so his adopter will need to go slowly in establishing a relationship with him. Once he trusts you, which happens fairly quickly, Feta's warm and snuggly. Feta is a smart dog, and he needs to be kept busy. He will find something to entertain himself if you don't provide it. He completed Beginning Obedience Class at PetSmart in December 2023; he needs continued practice to be sure he retains and improves on his lessons. In the meantime, approved chew toys for "aggressive chewers" are must (he will come with his current black Kong). While he's not a fan of big dogs, Feta gets on well with the other 5 small dogs at his foster's house, except he is concerned about his bowl at feeding time. Eating in his crate keeps that issue under control. Feta hasn't been tested with cats or children yet but should do well with older kids who can take the time to get to know him. Story
Meet Bella. This beautiful girl is 3.5 years old. She is an active and independent dog who thrives with walks, training, and a little bit of alone time. Do you work in an office but would love to have a companion to come home to? Bella may be your girl. She is completely house-trained and can be left alone for 8 to 10 hours if needed. She thrives on a routine that involves morning and evening walks and adventures. Bella is about 7lbs. She is spayed and current on vaccinations and prevention meds. Bella has some sensitivities that her family will need to understand and work with her on. She has some visual impairment, so it takes her some time to feel confident in a new home and around new people. Quick movements and unpredictable environments still scare her, so a home with small children or a busy household would not be ideal for her. She is being fostered in a home with dogs and a cat. She will need very slow introductions with new friends, and the same applies to quick or unpredictable movements, so older, more relaxed, and confident animals would be best. She has also been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is on high-quality food and supplements to manage any symptoms. She is also on doggie Prozac and will need to continue this until she is settled in a new home and a vet clears a weaning plan. Bella has spent five weeks at Paws and Play Training program and is really coming along with her confidence, but this work and socialization will need to be continued in her new home. Bella was surrendered to rescue almost a year ago. She has been in and out of numerous homes due to her fear response, which has resulted in reactivity. However, after training and now that we know her much better, we are confident that with continued training and a confident family to lead her, she will thrive and make an amazing companion. She loves to be social and experience new things, just on her own terms. Bella would not work as an emotional support dog; she needs an emotional support human who will advocate for her and give her the space she needs to navigate the world. Does it sound like she could be the girl for you? Please apply, and we’d love for you to meet this special girl. foster/SAT

Story
What a GREAT pet Budders is. He is happy and active and friendly, in spite of a physical condition. He lost his R rear leg after we tried to save it, and our efforts weren't successful. We have had him with us for several months. We've learned his personality characteristics. What we know for sure is that this guy loves his person, he is not a fan of sharing his space with other dogs and doesn't love big dogs. He loves to share a bed with his person. He is pretty well house trained and having 3 legs doesn't slow him down much. He will let you know when he doesn't like something or wants to be left alone, but he's not a mean dog, not ever. We LOVE this guy. He's had great vet care with us, prior to being with us he was vaccinated annually but there's no evidence he got annual vet exams, though we don't know that for sure. He is in super good shape at this point and his adopter will need to keep up on his exams and dental care as well as heartworm and flea prevention. Budders must stay on a high-quality diet, and he can't gain weight as that would be too hard on his three legs, (it's not good for any dog). If you think Budders would be a good fit for your home, please apply and let's get a meeting time set up! He is a special boy that will definitely light up your life! Budders is about 3 years old, He weighs around 14# and his adoption fee is $400.
