Story
Diego and Dora came to us as unclaimed strays, ready for a fresh start! Diego is a 1-year-old chihuahua mix, weighing around 17 pounds. He's a very sweet guy, who will jump up for attention and pets. He enjoys his walks and sniffing around. Diego can be a little mouthy when he's excited. He is looking for a home without other dogs and older kids.

Story
Dora came to us as an unclaimed stray, ready for a fresh start. Dora is a 1-year-old chihuahua mix weighing in at just 7lbs. She can be a little shy at first but is the cutest and sweetest little lady! She allows us to pick her up and carry her if necessary but is squirmy and would prefer to walk. Dog meets are welcome. Dora seems to do well with small dogs but does not like big dogs. She does not tolerate harnesses/collars or having them be put on, so will require a slip lead.

Story
Meet Whiskey, a male chihuahua pup who is around 6 months old and weighs about 7 lbs. He is being fostered with his sister Daisy but is looking for his very own forever family. Whiskey & Daisy are super cute puppies with lots of energy and very needy with people. They love their humans. They want to be as close to you as possible and prefer to be in the same room as you. They will cry if left unattended or try their best to get to you. They are great with dogs and cats. They love to play with balls, chew on bones and chase each other around the yard. They still need help with using the pee pads and going outside and they hate collars and leashes so we do need to have their new families have a fenced in. yard.  *They will not be adopted together, please apply for only one* Kids and visiting grandkids 10 or older only please  If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!   *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2024, 10:32 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Mabel and I am an incredibly sweet and affectionate gal. My background is unknown and the vet thinks I am about a year. I am likely a terrier Chihuahua lab mix. I weigh about 22 lbs and will need to gain weight but I am most likely fully grown height wise (about a foot and a half tall and small to medium sized). Everyone loves my derpy smile, but I love sleeping in my Foster's lap, cuddles, and playing!! Since I am young I have LOTS of energy! I generally keep a clean crate overnight but am still working on potty training when it comes to peeing in the house. I am very friendly to other humans and I want to play with every dog I meet! If you would like to meet this dog please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
People often ask us what kind of dog Milo is, and we could try to guess what breeds he is (your guess is as good as ours), but we’d rather just tell you about his personality. Because he has a pretty great one! Milo is above all things, a lapdog. If there is a lap to be cuddled, he is there to curl up on it, and soak up all the love. And he isn’t picky. Be it his forever family that he is bonded to, or a friend visiting for dinner. Milo doesn’t discriminate. If you are a willing participant, he’s happy to share his snuggles with you! Milo doesn’t mind meeting new people, and engages them with happy tail wags both inside and outside the home. How dog friendly he is is a bit of an unknown as his foster home doesn’t have other pets, but we would be happy to explore this with purpose if a family that applies has other pets. He does show interest in seeing other dogs on walks, but has not met any of them. Milo very much enjoys his walks, and gets so excited when he realizes it is that time! He’s fairly low energy in the home, and doesn’t need a fenced in yard, but a walk or two a day would be necessary, along with other potty breaks. He doesn’t prefer his crate but will go in it when his foster family leaves the home. As is common with little dogs, Milo is working on his potty training, and shows continuous improvement. As for his eye, Milo likely sustained an injury to it before he was found as a stray. It was removed to prevent further issues down the line, such as glaucoma. It does not impact his daily life, and he is a normal guy! The adoption fee for Milo is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Milo please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team members.
