Story
Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Now be an obedient first mate, and use those big paws to fill out an application and come work for me... your trustworthy Skipper. Sound like a match for you? Then, please apply: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Story
Bugsy Malone is a chiweenie (Chihuahua/dachshund) who is 8-pounds and 7-years-old. Bugsy has the typical big Doxie voice, so he shouldn't go anywhere with shared walls (I.e apartments, condos). He likes to cuddle, will play with other small dogs and toys, watch television while in your lap, walks well on a leash, and likes to cruise around in the car with you. But, he needs a really secure harness as he is a Houdini with many harnesses. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $295. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Story
Louie is a fun, sweet, adorable Chihuahua mix. He's 2-years-old, and weighs 11-pounds. Louie gets along with people, kids, dogs, cats, and birds! He is okay on car rides, walks, and being crated. He will beg for attention all day if you don't give it to him. Essentially, he wants to be your lap dog. Louie does use his voice, so a home with no shared walls is ideal (I.e no apartments or condos). He has totally ingratiated himself with his foster family, and would happily bond with yours very quickly also. Please give Louie the forever home he deserves. You will feel like the luckiest to have him in your life. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. Story
Taz is a 1-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's a very thin 8-pounds, but he's already filling out with good food and lots of love. Taz was terrified at animal control, and with his foster for the first couple of days. He needs to figure out you're not trying to hurt him, and then he will come BEGGING for the love and belly rubs. He still gets a little overstimulated at times. So, you just have to follow his signals. He will crawl into your lap and lick your face until you're sure you have no face left. Ha! No young children in the home please. This poor guy has suffered enough in his short life. All he needs is a loving home with pawrents who can continue to help his trust of people grow every day. Taz gets along well with other small dogs, is pretty quiet so far, and rides fine in a car. He does well on a leash also. Taz has really come out of his shell. He loves playing with other small dogs, and has filled out nicely. He is now a healthy 10-pounds. This young cutie is going to make someone very happy! Apply today Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. Say hello to Bandit! He is a 1.5-year-old, 9-pound goofball of a Chihuahua. When he and his siblings first came to rescue, they were scared and confused. None had proper socialization with people. But, they already loved other dogs! Soon, treats, patience, love, and more treats, won them over. None of the kiddos are bonded. But, we are never adverse to more than one going to the same home. We give discounts for that! Bandit is in a foster with other small dogs and some children. He'd be very happy to have a forever home with either or both, as he loves to play! Gil Gil! Giliam! Mr. Gil! Man oh man where do we begin? It`s hard to find the words to describe the worlds greatest dog.He follows the director around everywhere. He has a truly amazing recall!!! He loves turkey and joining the staff in the breakroom to catch anything that falls. He is so spoiled so he just stays in the director`s office so he doesn`t have to be a victim to the loud kennels. He lives in the moment and chooses to forget how neglected he was in the past. He came in as a stray with HORRIBLE skin issues. He is resilient, hilarious, and the king of the shelter. He is 100% potty trained! If he doesn`t potty outside, it is ALWAYS on a potty pad. We love this handsome man!

Story
Meet Zuko, our handsome 3-year-old Pomsky who weighs about 25 pounds.  Zuko is learning the ropes of trust, love, and companionship! He requires a quiet, calm home with a secure, fenced yard to keep him safe. His new home should have few visitors and an owner experienced with fearful dogs. If there are kids in the home, they need to be respectful teenagers who are able to give Zuko time and patience to adjust. This sweet boy is making progress on his house training and is comfortable in his crate. He gets along well with his foster dog siblings (who are all bigger than him) and would benefit greatly from having a confident canine companion in his forever home, as other dogs help him build his confidence. As his foster mom shares, “Zuko is very sweet but still a very shy. Each day, he’s learning to trust people more. While he’s not a snuggler, he’s curious about being close to people and will follow you from room to room.” Though he’s still figuring out if he likes head pets, he’s showing more interest in connecting with people. If you’re a patient, understanding dog lover with a calm home, Zuko might be the perfect companion to share your life with.  His adoption fee is $295  plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.  He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. To be considered for adoption, you must first submit the application found at:   http://fs16.formsite.com/WishBoneCanineRescue/adoptionapplication/index.html For information about this dog's breed(s), visit: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm Wish Bone Canine Rescue  1303 Morrissey Drive Bloomington, IL 61701 www.wishbonecaninerescue.org           Since its our desire that you have a pet you can enjoy a lifetime of love with you, we take special measures to ensure that the pet is the best match for you and your family.  We require that you complete our online www.wishbonecaninerescue.org (Please give us 24 hours to verify your information).
