Xander is about six-month-old, small-sized dog, expected to weigh under 25 pounds. Recently neutered, he's doing well with house training and signals his need to go out by trying to go upstairs. Xander takes a few minutes to settle in his crate and only barks at strangers, dogs, and loud noises. He loves treats, prefers to graze at mealtimes, and responds well to his name and the command "no."During the day, Xander enjoys napping on the couch and loves to snuggle, often preferring to sleep on his back in your arms. At night, he sleeps in a crate since he's not fully potty trained yet. Xander learns quickly and behaves well on walks with a harness. He enjoys exploring the backyard but tires quickly and likes to be held. While he meets small dogs smoothly, he initially reacts strongly to large dogs until he feels safe.Xander gets along well with children and loves all types of toys. His greatest accomplishment is his love for laps; he prefers to be in your arms or on your lap. His small size makes him prone to fitting through most fences, so he needs close supervision outside. Unique for a Chihuahua mix, Xander is sweet, loves people, and is very tolerant of young children. Oz settles in his crate after a few minutes and only barks appropriately at strangers or loud noises. Meet Patches Patches is a cute, tan and white Chihuahua Mix, estimated to be about 2 years old, weighing 15 lbs. She is very cute, and good with most other dogs but sometimes is selective about her friends; she was confiscated along with several other dogs, ended up in a downstate animal control, and finally found her way to BAARK. Patches is well behaved, affectionate , an overall nice girl. However she has many traits typical of a Chihuahua….can be dog selective, can be bossy with other dogs, and will not back down if another dog challenges her. So, if there is another dog(s) in the household, he or she should be mellow and laid-back. While affectionate, Patches is not fond of cuddling. She’s an independent spirit and prefers to do her own thing. She will surely make a great companion for adults familiar with the breed and able to appreciate the Chihuahua personality. Sophie Marie arrived at BAARK Dog Rescue along with her housemate after their mom went into a nursing home. While we were able to bring both girls into our Rescue, they do not appear to be bonded to each other, but greatly enjoy the company of other dogs. Little Sophie is about 11 years old, a sweet female Chihuahua who has had a tough life when it comes to her health, Sophie was stricken with glaucoma and required removal of one eye; her other eye has limited vision. Despite her limited vision however, she is very confident in moving throughout her foster home, and loves to be front and center in the household. In addition, Sophie is diabetic, and requires a prescription food along with insulin injections twice daily after meals. In spite of her issues, Sophie is quite a little character, deserving of a forever family of her own, able to meet her medical needs as well as her need for an active social life…as well as a cozy place to rest her body when the day is done. Sophie is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. Rusty is a cute little guy, believed to be a ChiBo, that is a Chihuahua-Boston Terrier. He shows the appearance of both breeds and temperament as well! Rusty’s estimated date of birth is 10-14-2023. He’s currently only about 12 lbs. We expect his adult weight to be under 20 lbs. Rusty is a typical puppy. He is a ball of energy, and loves to play with other dogs. And really loves running and playing in the secure above-ground fenced yard at his foster home. He also enjoys cuddling, and loves attention from his human friends. Rusty is fine with older children but is afraid of the energy of younger children. Typical of a puppy, Rusty does enjoy chewing; it’s important to be alert to such behavior, so he does not get into trouble or get hurt. He’s working on his housebreaking and is doing well. Rusty has been vet-checked, and is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. His neuter and microchipping are included in his adoption fee. Hello world, my name is Micah! I am a very special 9.5 year old, 6.5 pound, Chihuahua mix. Why am I so special, you ask? You see, I am both blind and deaf, so I move through my day differently than most dogs! Don't worry though, I am getting the hang of things in my foster home and I'm sure I will do the same in my forever home, as long as my future family understands that I will need to learn the lay out of my new environment. My foster family can give you tips on what has worked here for me, such as using "starting" spots on the floor so I can orient myself. So far, so good! Since I can't see or hear, I will need a securely fenced yard in my forever home to make sure I stay safe and sound. Which will be great since I love to wander outside! I am great with other dogs, they don't bother me at all. I'd prefer to be around older kids who will understand my needs. I'm getting the hang of spending time in my crate by myself, and I'm doing well with potty training as long as I have frequent trips outside. I will need continued help along the way! My absolute favorite thing in the world is to snuggle with my person. If you are looking for a little snuggle buddy companion, please consider me because I promise I fit the bill. When I'm getting comfy, I contort myself so I'm almost doing a headstand to ensure I'm properly buried into my cozy blanket. My foster mom says my bark is more like a squeak, and my sweet demeanor makes me impossible not to love. I am looking forward to being someone's forever cuddle buddy and I hope you'll apply to meet me if you think I could be the right fit for you! My adoption fee is $250.

Poppy is an adorable senior Pomeranian Mix, estimated to be 11.5 years old and 11.5 lbs. He’s a very cute, sweet dog but he is a little old man who just likes to hang out with his favorite human(s). he’s not a cuddly lap dog, and is not especially playful pup. His favorite activities are napping and watching what’s going on around him…without necessarily engaging in any activities. He’s more of an observer vs a participant! Poppy would sure love to be an only dog, but, would do ok with another quiet senior who would not bother him with play or cuddling. He’s looking for a place to just chill and hang out in his twilight years, not being bothered by lots of people or by children. Poppy is in overall good health but he appears to have poor eyesight. He just had extensive dental work. He is of course neutered and microchipped and is up-to-date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on year-round heartworm prevention.
