Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Louie is a fun, sweet, adorable Chihuahua mix. He's 2-years-old, and weighs 11-pounds. Louie gets along with people, kids, dogs, cats, and birds! He is okay on car rides, walks, and being crated. He will beg for attention all day if you don't give it to him. Essentially, he wants to be your lap dog. Taz is a 1-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's a very thin 8-pounds, but he's already filling out with good food and lots of love. Taz was terrified at animal control, and with his foster for the first couple of days. He needs to figure out you're not trying to hurt him, and then he will come BEGGING for the love and belly rubs. He still gets a little overstimulated at times. So, you just have to follow his signals. He will crawl into your lap and lick your face until you're sure you have no face left. Ha! No young children in the home please. This poor guy has suffered enough in his short life. All he needs is a loving home with pawrents who can continue to help his trust of people grow every day. Taz gets along well with other small dogs, is pretty quiet so far, and rides fine in a car. He does well on a leash also. Taz has really come out of his shell. He loves playing with other small dogs, and has filled out nicely. He is now a healthy 10-pounds. This young cutie is going to make someone very happy! New gal in! This gorgeous love is Daisee Mae. We have two Daisys now, sorry for any confusion that may cause. Daisee Mae is a 10-year-old Pomeranian mix. Her mama recently passed away, and she came to be Deeby's in a search for her new home. Daisee Mae was quite hefty at 18-pounds. She should be closer to 12-pounds. After just one week, she is down to 17-pounds. This is just from a proper diet without a bunch of added people food. She is so incredibly sweet, good with dogs and so far people. Though we were told she prefers women, she has been great with the men she has met. Daisy Mae also has diabetes. It is easily controlled with a proper diet, two tiny shots of insulin daily, and a daily pill. Don't overlook this beauty simply because of her medical needs. Anyone can easily learn to care for a diabetic dog. We LOVE this dog!! She is a true staff favorite. Daisee Mae likes other dogs, cats, people, cuddling, car rides, walks, all the good stuff. She's so quiet and easy. She just wants love. Location: Decatur, IL leiashope.org Tinka is a very sweet and loving little lady. She came from a puppy mill and she is soaking in all the love and attention she can get! Tinka follows foster mom wherever she goes and as soon as she sits down she is at her feet ready to get some love and attention. Tinka can be a little scared of sudden movement but she recovers quickly once she realizes it's not a threat. She has been around older children and enjoys the attention she gets from them also! She is good with other dogs and tries to play, but foster mom's dogs are older and not very playful, so Tinka gives up and settles for more attention from foster mom! Tinka arrived in rescue with some hair loss, likely to being shaved down so many times. Her hair is a little thin and we are hoping with time and a good diet her coat will grow in and be fluffy. Tinka likely has not had much experience with a leash, so a fenced in yard is preferred. If not, she will need to be walked with the martingale collar she will go home with and someone who is patient to teach her and go slow. Tinka's adoption fee is $275. She is spayed, received a dental and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
