Hi, I’m Trident! My fosters say I’m the quietest Chihuahua they’ve ever had! I’m endless entertainment, let me tell you about some of the stuff I love- TOYS and FOOD! Yes, especially squeaky toys, but I love to take them all out of the basket and put them by the front door. I will play for hours throwing them around and chasing them for myself. I also love food, and luckily, WALKS, too! I’ve been working on my waistline with daily walks so hopefully you can help me keep that up. We just step off into the grass for some space and go at our own pace as bikes, strollers, balls and dogs all go racing past me. I use the bed stairs and snuggle at my fosters feet all night long, the only time bark usually is if someone new comes in the room while I’m sleeping. I like my teens and their friends and all the dogs that have been in my foster home. My foster has always done slow intro with them and I feel more secure that way. Ive played with puppies as little as 5-10 pounds and am gentle with the old gal and give her kisses, she won’t play and I accept that. If you have been looking for a big love bug that doesn’t know his size, is still learning about the world, loves his home and his people deeply, check me out! My fosters adore me, you can ask them! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Serene is a beautiful, playful, super sweet girl who will quickly steal your heart. She's an approximately 4 year old Chihuahua / Terrier Mix (We do not DNA test)   She is completely housebroken and knows basic commands. She gets along well with cats. Her foster home has three cats. She LOVES to go for walks and she walks well on a leash. If you like a good snuggle, Serene is your girl. An absolute cuddle bug, she’ll want to sleep right next to you if you’ll allow her to. We hope that Serene will find a furever home where she will be loved, pampered and spoiled because she truly deserves the best.   Serene is heartworm positive and will receive treatment at the rescues expense at one of our contracted vets.  Applicants should be within a 50 mile radius of our Elgin location and willing and able to take her for the treatment.  Potential adopters will speak with a member of our medical team prior to adoption to fully understand the treatment process   Serene’s adoption fee is $350.  This includes age appropriate vaccines, completed wellness visit, *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Max and Punzel (Maximus and Rapunzel) are brother (brown) and sister (black and white). We have had them since they were little and had them for one of our kids who has since left our home. They are very well trained. When they go out, they will quietly sit at your feet looking up at your face, and when they see you, they start running to the back door, stopping now and then to make sure they are still following. They are very cuddly and are very low maintenance dogs. Because they are little, they don't need long walks but can run around in the house. They enjoy wrestling with each other and chasing each other which is a lot of fun to just watch.

Sonja was adopted 4 years ago in December from heartland animal shelter. My vet thought at time she was three years old so I’m guessing now she’s 6 or 7. Someone to love and care for her. She is trained to use the Peepee pads. She loves to sit on your lap under a blanket, loves kisses enjoys a fenced in yard. She sleeps in my bedroom in her bed. She’s tiny snuggly independent low maintenance. She eats a quarter cup of dry food twice a day and loves her treats!

Max is a great dog loves to play and loves his bones! We have had issues with potty training since the beginning. For the most part he is okay with going potty outside but he wears a diaper inside as he likes to mark around the house. He is also an escape artist so we always take him out on a leash. He’s a great dog. But unfortunately we cannot keep him and we are looking to rehoming him. He knows how to sit, give paw and roll over. Great with kids too
