Story
NON-negotiable requirements: a fenced-in yard and home visit. We no longer engage in out-of-state adoptions.  Hershey is a Chocolate Chihuahua mix, weighing 8 pounds. He is fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, and microchipped. He is also heartworm negative. Hershey is initially shy but warms up quickly to humans. He will require a potty training refresher. Hershey relates very well with other dogs, loves to play, and once he knows his humans enjoy the company of such. Here is how our adoption process works:   Residents applying to adopt one of our rescues MUST have a fenced-in yard (no electric fences) and be willing to allow us to come with the dog to their residence to complete a home visit. We accept (2) applicantions per dog. Applications are evaluated in the order and stamp time and day they are received. We do not bump residents, nor change the requested dog if somebody has submitted an application for a dog and later wants to change to a different one, your initial application will be used but your will not be considered before a person that had applied for that animal first, you could then become either number 2 or any other number in our list. Residents from Panama City, Panama City Beach, are informed that we will only travel to complete the home visit on Monday’s, and this is assuming we have two applications for this area, otherwise we will complete a virtual home visit WE no longer engage in out of state adoptions.   Interested resident needs to complete and submit this form: https://form.123formbuilder.com/5235602//   Once we receive your application, we evaluate it. If the organization's requirements are met, i.e., fenced-in-yard and willingness to allow the home visit, we then contact you to schedule the home visit. There is no compromise on your part to adopt the dog or on ours to allow you to adopt the dog. This visit could be either in person or virtual, depending on the distance between your home and our location. We travel up to 1 hour from our location to the residents' address. Our primary interest is to meet you, evaluate your yard, and see how the dog responds to you, your family, and any other animal in the household. These visits often occur either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between  10 to 11 am or 3 to 4 pm during the winter season.  If everything goes as expected and the dog appears to be a good match for you and your family, and you feel this to be the case, and we have no objections, we proceed with the adoption. We will provide you with all the pet's veterinary records and any other information on the pet. Our adoption fee ranges from $ 225.00 to $325.00. Adoption Donations (fees)  are determined by the cost of vetting and transporting the dog via airline/ground to our facility. All of our dogs are vetted, current on shots, spayed/neutered, and microchipped!   When visiting your household, we will comply with CDC recommendations. I will wear a face mask and gloves, and we will meet in your backyard. It is as much a precaution to protect you as well as me as I am Immunocompromised. I hope you understand!   ##1223080##

Story
Adoption non-negotiable requirements: a fenced-in yard and a home visit Taina came to us from the Island Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, where an epic animal welfare crisis is present. Taina is a shy, spayed, fully vetted, current on shots, and microchipped Chihuahua Mix. She is very sweet and engaging once she realizes that no harm will come to her from interacting with humans. Taina relates well with other dogs. we don't know how she will interact with cats, or children as we have been unable to evaluate her interaction with either.  Residents applying to adopt one of our rescues MUST have a fenced-in yard (no electric fences) and be willing to allow us to come with the dog to their residence to complete a home visit. Story
Pinki is about two years old, she is really sweet and energetic. She is fully vetted, and microchipped. She is heartworm and intestinal parasites negative. Pinki enjoys the company of humans and other animals.  It is our mission to be the voice for the voiceless. Each dog, cat, or horse that we adopt out has been promised a second chance for happiness and security. We take this promise very seriously. Each potential adopter is asked to complete a PRE-ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE. Following receipt of this document we proceed to schedule what we call a “meet & greet”.   Residents of Panama City, Panama City Beach or any adjacent areas, please know that we will only travel to complete a home visit if we have (2) potential adopters in your area. Unfortunately, you are in CST, and we are traveling from EST, which means that it becomes a day trip to complete a home visit, for efficiency purposes as well as to decrease our traveling expenses we have had to establish this rule. We are sorry! We travel up to 1 hours from our location to bring the pet to your home which allows you to see him/her in a secure environment without external distractions. It also allows us to observe the environment where the dog/cat will live and make sure that it provides all the required security to prevent as much as possible any accident. Given the extraordinary circumstances our country is experiencing we have now also instituted what we call "virtual home visits".  Using technology for "good", we visit your household using a free app called Google Duo. You can install it for free on your smartphone and will allow us to have a "face-to-face" conversation as well as it will allow us to take a peek at your yard. This allows you to see the dog you are interested in, and us to evaluate your fenced-in-yard. After the meet and greet (in your home, adhering to CDC guidelines, I will wear a mask and we will meet in your yard) and the interaction between you and our dog appears to be a good fit, and if you are still interested in our companion dog or cat, and If this is the pet for you we will proceed to complete the formal ADOPTION CONTRACT, residents will proceed to complete the adoption donation at this time,. WE no longer engage in out of state adoptions! We ask from all of our potential adopters to read our adoption contract beforehand and welcome as many questions as you may have after reading it. WE complete home visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 pm, Wednesdays, from 10-11 am, or 3 to 4 pm. Please let us know which one is more convenient for you.  ##1548063##

Story
Lucas is a 1+y/o, male Chi/Terrier, weighing 8 pounds. He was somewhat timid until he gets to know the person. He is fully vetted, current on shots, and negative for Heartworm. He has been dewormed. Lucas relates well with other dogs, and uses a doggie door.  YCMAD has two non-negotiable requirements to be considered as a candidate for the adoption of any of our rescues: the presence of a fenced-in yard (no electric fences) and the completion of a home visit. Our adoption process includes (3) steps: First, you complete and submit the Pre-Adoption questionnaire available at this link: Pre-Adoption Application Form (jotform.com). completion of this questionnaire does not indicate you will be granted the adoption.  (2) We evaluate your application and inform you of our decision; either (a) we ask for a time and date that is convenient to complete a home visit at which time you will meet the animal of your choice or we will provide you with the rationale as to why we believe this animal may not be a good fit for your home, (3) We travel up to 1 hour from our location to bring the pet to your home which allows you to see him/her in a secure environment without external distractions. It also allows us to observe the environment where the dog/cat will live and ensure that it provides all the required security to prevent as much as possible any accident. Given the extraordinary circumstances our country is experiencing, we have also instituted what we call "virtual home visits.” We complete home visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 pm and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 am or 3 to 4 pm. Other times and days may also be available depending on our work schedule. Please let us know which one is more convenient for you.  We will bring the animal in question to the home visit. We will complete the adoption if it appears to be a good fit. Residents of Panama City, Panama City Beach, or any adjacent areas, please know that we will only travel to complete a home visit if we have (2) potential adopters in your area. Unfortunately, you are in CST, and we are traveling from EST, which means that it becomes a day trip to complete a home visit; for efficiency purposes and to decrease our traveling expenses, we have had to establish this rule. We are sorry! In these cases, we adhere to completing a “virtual home visit.” Again, thanks for your interest in one of our adoptable furry babies. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 850-792-2152; this is my direct line, and if I happen to be busy, your call, on average, will be returned within 2 hours. It is our mission to be the voice for the voiceless. Each dog, cat, or horse we adopt has been promised a second chance for happiness and security. We take this promise very seriously. ##1874269##

Story
Adoption process : We do require an approved application for meet and greets. Why? Because otherwise we would be meeting with people who we would not adopt to and it would use a lot of time and resources. Since I do 99.9% of the meet and greets it's my time and gas, remember, we are a self-funded organization, we are judicious in the use of our funds. Though donations are accepted we have not been blessed with receiving many. Remember we do not have a physical facility you can visit as the insurance companies want us to pay $10,000 dollars to allow visitors. Our rescues are housed in insulated buildings, they enjoy heat and air condition as required. They are not locked up in kennels, although we have them available in the event of need, i.e. surgeries, behavior modification, etc. They have ample space to run and rest, as well as to interact with each other.  We have chosen to use the money that the insurance demands to save more lives. Once they graduate from this accommodations, they are housed in our home, they are all house in what used to be a three-car garage that was transformed into an apartment with all the associated commodities. This allows them to learn how to live in a house, not to eat cables, or urinate inside, etc. They also learn how to use a doggie door to use the bathroom.   We do require a fenced yard. Why? Because dogs deserve a safe open area to play in off leash. We do not expect dogs to be left alone in the yard or to be outside dogs. I often hear that. That is not why we require a fence. We do realize this will exclude some people, nonetheless, it is still a requirement. Dog parks are not considered a fenced yard. They can be a very dangerous place for a pup especially when they are puppies. We also require a home check. Why? Because we want to make sure the home is a safe environment. We do not come to inspect your home for cleanliness or being spotless. Our concern is that it has to be a safe environment. If the adoption fee is an issue please address that before all other steps are taken. Adoption fees are required to keep the rescue open. We only exist because of adoption fees and our yearly donation to the organization. We are a small rescue with limited funds. Adoptions are never ever first come first serve. We evaluate two applicants at a time, and reserve the right to choose which applicant in our opinion is the best fit for the dog/cat. Applications are accepted until we get a good match. It may take 1 application for that or it may take 10. We try our very best to get forever homes not right now homes. Oftentimes people do not research breeds before applying and they are not the best match. If you have questions about a dog know that comments are missed if you write them on Facebook, or any other social media site where our dogs/cats are promoted, so please message the page or send an email to ycmad2733@gmail.com, if you chose to text us, please include your name and the name of the dog/cat you are interested in, unfortunately, I can no longer remember what telephone belongs to you. Otherwise, call 850-792-2152, or email ycmad2733@gmail.com. We appreciate your assistance and understanding! Tito came to us a transfer from another rescue. He is about 1 year old, male, current on shots, neutered and microchipped. Tito relates very well with other dogs, is very loving towards humans and wants to please. He learned very quickly how to use a doggie door, He is energetic and likes to learn new activities. Tito interacts very well with both male and female humans. He would be an asset to any household.  ##1918373##
