Story
We have had "Buddy" since he was about 6 months old from a shelter in Tennessee. Buddy is now about 8 years old. We have to find a new home for Buddy because we are moving overseas. Buddy has always been around our cat and children with no problems. Buddy loves affection. He stays on our property and does not wonder away. He uses the doggie door just fine.

Story
I've had Ruby for a few years, she is around 15-16 years old. I believe he is going blind and losing hearing. As long as she is left alone, she is a good dog. I've seen her get agitated when other dogs want to play with her, but she really just tries to show them who is boss. She is older so obviously doesn't want to be messed with. She loves her bed and sleeping.

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Peanut Butter is the sweetest girl! This 5yo, 7.6 lb. Chiweenie is very timid at first and will need time to get to know you before she will commit to being your friend. But once she does, she is your bestie! She favors women, is skittish around men and may never warm up to a male in the home, so for that reason we are preferring to adopt her to an all-female home. She loves to cuddle in the human bed at night (this is a must for her) and sleeps all through the night under the covers. With her short legs, she will need stairs or a ramp onto the bed and couch. She is house trained and loves, loves her daily walks, doing a happy dance when the harness and leash come out. She enjoys her brisk walks, except to stop and sniff, and is energized when she sees a squirrel teasing her. She also loves searching out lizards. She is non-reactive to people and dogs on her walks. Belly rubs are also a favorite. She is dog and cat friendly (ignores a cat), and gains comfort from having another friendly dog (large or small) in the home, so that will be given preference. She loves meal times and getting treats. She cutely stands on her hind legs waiting for her treat. She loves chewing on a Benebone or chew bone. One of her favorite things is sun bathing on the screened-in porch area. She isn’t a big barker, but does bark when she perceives danger. She does well riding in a car in her doggy booster seat. Once she gets used to her new situation and comes out of her shell, she is a happy and fun little dog. She is sad when she is left behind, and cries for a little while, so we are wanting someone for her who is home most of the time. We want a smaller fenced yard for her to run around in, but with her tiny size, it must be totally secure with no gaps where she can squeeze out. Due to her small size, we prefer an all-adult home for her, but if the home has a child, an older respectful child will be considered. Whoever adopts this sweet girl is truly getting a gem. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, match all of her qualifications in this profile, and believe you have the perfect home for Peanut Butter, please complete an app and tell us more about you.  February 18, 2025, 11:29 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Frankie is just the most precious boy! He is around 2yo and weighs 15lbs., and is probably a chihuahua mix of some sort, with a gorgeous brindle, black and white coat and warm brown eyes. Frankie loves the company of other dogs, kitties and adults. He has been with kids ages 5 to 10yo and did great. He loves chew toys and is very food motivated. He rides well in a car. He's just an all-around fun guy and will bring joy to you every day. Frankie is crated when his fosters leave the house, and he cries a bit at first but settles down. For that reason, apartment living would would not suit him. We prefer a fenced yard, or someone who can provide him with lots of exercise and a place to run and burn off his energy. He is active in the morning, then settles in for nap time. He may mark once or twice in a  new environment, but he learns very quickly and is potty trained. Frankie loves to sleep snuggled up right next to his foster parents at night. He just wants to be as close to you as possible and likes to show affection with gentle little kisses. Frankie is heartworm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. He can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Frankie, please complete an app and tell us more about your family.   March 6, 2025, 6:55 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Fiona is the sweetest little chihuahua mix girl! She is around 6 months old and weighs 11 pounds. She is so very affectionate and cuddly; she’s a little shy at first, but still trusting as she will give you her belly every time. Fiona has beautiful shiny black fur, a long sleek body, and big floppy ears. She is friendly to everyone - people and dogs. She hasn't been tested with cats  while with our rescue. She loves to play with three foster puppies that live with her, they do zoomies, tug-of-war and play with chew toys. Fiona is house trained, sleeps quietly all night next to her foster mom. She loves her walks and is friendly to everyone she meets on the walks. She sits quietly on car rides and is not a barker. She is a sweet, quiet, friendly and calm little girl. She would love to have a young fur sibling playmate. Fiona is very active so a fenced yard would be ideal for her. Since she is still a puppy she will need to continue her training and socialization. Fiona would be a wonderful addition to any active family as she is a truly loving baby girl and just wants to be loved back. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Fiona, please complete an app and tell us more about you. March 6, 2025, 6:55 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Nikky, a loving and affectionate approx. 3yo, 12-lb. female chihuahua mix looking for her forever family where she can soak up all the attention. Nikky is very timid at first, and will need someone who can just let her "be" until she feels settled and comfortable in her new home. Once she gets to know you though, she is a true companion who adores being around people and thrives on love and affection. She has a big heart and plenty of love to give—she just wants a family that will cherish her as much as she cherishes them. She enjoys cuddles, belly rubs and spending quality time with her favorite humans. She is house trained, walks well on a leash, rides well in the car and sleeps through the night. She's not much of a toy gal, but does love a yak chew. Nikky would do best either as the only dog in the household (she prefers to be the center of attention) or if another dog, they have a calm personality and not an in-her-face style. She ignores cats. She would do best in an all-adult home. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate and devoted best friend, Nikky may be your perfect match. She’s ready to fill your home with love and happiness—are you ready to make her part of your family? If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Nikky, please complete an app and tell us more about you. February 28, 2025, 4:25 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PJ came to PRBJ when his family had to move and they were unable to take him. He is a shy dog that takes some time to warm up to new people. He is not used to being on a leash and is pee pad trained. We are working to get him potty trained outside. Going out with another dog is a big help for him as he tends to imitate.  Due to his nervous behavior, we are recommending an adult only home with someone who is patient and willing to give PJ the time he needs to come out of his little shell.  Foster update: It takes PJ a while to warm up. He was very scared and unsure when he first arrived. We fed him by hand for a couple of days and that helped!  He is also very treat motivated though if he is scared he may not take offered treats.**Since his neuter, he has gone backwards a bit and is not wanting to sit on laps or go outside.   We are working on it! He likes to be close to people but not necessarily to be touched.   He will shriek if you try to pet him when he does not want to be.    We have been working on "touch" training.   We say kiss or touch and he comes up and boops our hand.   His body language is getting better and better with it and even acting a bit playful.  He spooks fairly easily and needs to be on a leash or in a fenced yard as he can slip out of his collar. We recommend a slip leash or harness as he would be very difficult to catch...running away is his first instinct.    He does not like being picked up. He can be very underfoot - on or off leash, so this is something to consider for anyone not steady on their feet. He is not fully housetrained, but is learning the concept of going outside.  Because he does not like the leash we would recommend that he have a home with a fenced yard where he can be let outside to continue on his housetraining.   PJ can tend to get distracted and forget why he is outside so it's best to supervise whether he has gone or not!   His crate is left open when he is not in it and he likes to go lay in it, especially in the evenings before bed time.   His foster home has small and larger dogs and he is not a huge fan of the big dogs if they are running around.    He has been sleeping in a dog bed in the bedroom at night.   We do close the door or he likes to wander.    We have a pee pad in the hallway and some nights he makes it through dry, others he will use the pee pad.     He just had a dental, so his pearly whites are looking good!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 3, 2025, 9:18 am
