Story
Sprout is an adorable little guy! Sprout is about 2 years old and weighs about 10lbs. Sprout was attacked by a dog then rolled by a car so he wants to be your only dog. Sprout loves to sit next to you on the couch, he loves toys and yak bones.. he is a happy boy that will follow you around. Due to his accident, it take him a bit to allow you to pick him up so he needs a patient adopter that will go at his pace. Sprout really is a special boy and deserves a loving home. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Janet is a very small, wiry, little chihuahua mix. She is around 1 1/2 years old and weighs around 5-6lbs. She had a very rough start in life. She came from a hoarding situation and they had very little human contact. Janet needs a patient, experienced dog family to show her the ropes. She can be fearful at first, but warms up in a few days or so. She may react with barking at strangers. She gets along with all of the other small dogs in her foster family – young and old alike and she is cat friendly. When she feels confident, she is the sweetest little girl in the world. She walks well on a leash and she is potty trained to pee pads. She does moderately well in a crate and will be quiet after some time. Janet loves all treats and loves to play with toys. Her absolute favorite is a sock to carry around. She is very proud of that trophy! She will do best with someone who is home most of the time. She is such a loving, kind, funny little dog. She is scared of men and needs an all-adult, female-only home where she can blossom and root for a lifetime. She has so much to offer! If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, and believe you have the perfect home for Janet, please complete an application and tell us more about you.  July 2, 2024, 11:43 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 6-7 yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes; maybe she should be renamed Sweet Pea! She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. Peanut tested positive for heart worm in September, but has been on a protocol since then, so we’re hoping she will be given the all clear soon. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped and alone on a country road at just 3 lbs., obviously starving. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill method, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you think you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations, please complete her app and tell us more about you. July 2, 2024, 11:43 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Say hello to Nino!  This handsome little fellow was surrendered to Animal Services because his family no longer wanted him. His family said he is 14, but he behaves like a much younger dog. Our vet estimates Nino is between 8-10 years old. He weighs almost 7 pounds and has a striking salt-and-pepper colored coat.   Nino loves going on walks. He walks great on leash but gets excited if he sees a squirrel or dog. He may bark and pull so it’s important that his harness fits securely. Nino is easily redirected and the more experience walking outdoors, the less excited he gets upon seeing new things. Nino is sometimes startled by ordinary household objects. For example, he is convinced the vacuum cleaner is a monster and he loudly barks at it. Over time he should become accustomed to seeing the vacuum cleaner and lose interest in barking at it.   Indoors Nino gets along well with his smaller foster siblings. He craves attention so sometimes he will push in front of his foster siblings for pets or treats. He enjoys playing with his foster siblings but they don’t always reciprocate.  He loves to snuggle next to his people during TV time, and he sleeps quietly through the night at the foot of the bed or snuggled next to his people. Nino is house trained and crate trained. He doesn’t love going into his crate. He may bark or cry at first however he soon settles down. Nino has not shown destructive behaviors in the house. He is separated from his smaller foster siblings with a gate when his foster parents run errands but he does not need to be crated.   Nino is small enough to take just about anywhere, but he is also big enough to be able to go on a good walk outdoors when the weather is moderate. Due to his small size, Nino needs a home without small children. His ideal home would have adults only with just one other dog about Nino’s size, or no other dogs. This way there would be enough laps for everyone.   If you think you have the perfect forever home for Nino and you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, please complete an application and tell us more about your family. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application Seniors make the best friends. Hi, I am Pocko and I lost my home when my mom had a health crisis and could not take care of me any longer. It was very hard on me when I was taken from my mom, but finally ended up with a foster family who welcomed me and loved me like their own. Now I just need someone that will give me unconditional love and a safe spot to call my own for the rest of my life. So a little about me, I am approximately 8 years old and I weigh 8 pounds. I am not very big and I will not take up too much space. I am a Chihuahua and I love people. My last home could not take care of me, so I suffered for a while with flea infestation, long overgrown nails and no vetting, but my new foster mom has taken care of my health and physical needs and I am feeling great. I love to cuddle and will stay by your side as your trustworthy companion. I still have a love for toys and I love to play. I get along with most dogs and have never shown aggression towards people, except when getting my nails cut. I do well with going outside to potty, but I need to go out frequently. I will use a pad if that is what my new family wants. My ideal family would be those that would take me places and spend a lot of time with me. I am an older dog, but I promise to give you an amazing amount of love. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 3, 2024, 10:27 am

Story
Meet Juliet! This 3-year-old Chihuahua blend weighs 11 lbs. Juliet is looking for a dog-savvy human who can provide her with love, stability, and, of course, lots of snuggles. General Behavior: Juliet, while timid at first, is a true snuggle bug once she has determined you to be her "person". She is wary of strangers and needs time to trust that you are a friend, not a foe. She can often be found happily sitting in her human's lap, watching the newest sitcom while getting those highly sought-after ear scratches. Likes & Dislikes: Juliet loves the outdoors! She enjoys chasing lizards in the backyard and going for walks. Juliet likes things to be calm and laid-back in her life. She is not a fan of big changes, frequent visitors, or visiting dogs as they give her anxiety. As long as Juliet has her person and snuggles, she is happy. Training: This adorable girl has been working hard on her training in her foster home. She has good leash-walking skills and is a polite passenger in the car. She is still working on her social skills and general basic manners. She will require a family that can commit to continuing the training she has started in her foster home. Medical: Juliet is a healthy gal! She does take daily medication to manage her general anxiety. The cost of this is approximately $8 per month. Aside from this, she requires her monthly heartworm and flea preventative, like any other pooch. Other Animals: Juliet will require a home with no other animals. She prefers to have her humans to herself. Children: A home with no children is required for Juliet. Home: A single-family home or dog-friendly apartment living would be just fine for this beautiful pup! She requires a calm and laid-back home without frequent visitors and a dog-savvy, snuggle-loving human. Grooming: As a short-haired pup, Juliet does not require any frequent trips to the groomer. She just needs her regular baths and nail trims. Overall: Juliet is sure to thrive in a calm and loving home with a human who loves her just as much as she loves them! Are you the one for Juliet? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with her foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. Her adoption donation is $300. ##1938332##

Story
Meet Simba! This 9-lb Chihuahua blend is 11 years old. This little guy is so laid back, "Hakuna Matata" is definitely his catchphrase. Simba just can’t wait to be king… of a forever family’s hearts! General Behavior:  Simba is an active and curious fellow. According to his foster, he is the perfect chihuahua for people who don't like Chihuahuas: he is calm, inquisitive, and eager to greet new people and dogs while outside. During the day, Simba prefers to know where you are, but he's not a clingy guy. He will follow you around, but once he gets to know the routine, he's content to be in the same room. Likes & Dislikes: Simba enjoys long walks and meeting dogs and people of all sizes. After a stroll, he likes to snooze. Expect a tiny snore, not a roar. Night or day, blankets are a must for burrowing! Training: Simba is a good boy! He is housetrained if let out regularly, he walks well on a leash, is well-behaved in the car, and generally has good basic manners. Medical: Simba is a healthy boy! He just needs his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Other Animals: Simba needs to be the only dog in his home. He is, however, good with cats! Children: This chill Chihuahua is good with children of all ages. Home: Simba needs a home without stairs or with someone who can carry him. Right now, he needs to be carried up and down regular stairs, but can descend 4" stairs without difficulty. Other than that, he would fit into most any type of home. He doesn’t bark much, although this little lion gets sad when you leave: he will bark, but he settles down and should be fine in an apartment or condo. Grooming: As a short-haired dog, Simba won’t need much elaborate grooming. He sheds mildly. Overall: Simba will make a wonderful companion for someone who can take him on walks, give him lots of blankets to burrow into, and love him forever. Can you feel the love for Simba? Are you ready to welcome Simba into the circle of your life? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $225. ##2008942##
