Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Franklin is a sweet little senior that came to PRBJ after his owner became very ill and could no longer take care of him. He is house broken and seems to be fine with dogs and cats.  Due to his age, we are recommending an adult only home. He only has a couple teeth but that doesn't slow him down from eating. He cannot hear well and does have cataracts but he is still a spunky little guy. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 25, 2025, 1:50 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 7yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes, but she will still need patience and time to trust in her new home because first meets with strangers are difficult for her and she will be reactive. She just needs someone to give her the chance to get to know them, and know that they won't hurt her. She will then give you her heart. She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted with an in-your-face type dog, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. She will also tolerate being on a leash. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped, starving and alone on a country road, severely underweight at just 3 lbs. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only, a single story home with no ground-level pool, and no stairs/steps to get outside. She will need an uncluttered living space. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you believe you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations and chihuahua personality, please complete her app and tell us more about you. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Eve, she is  8 months old. Eve came to us with her momma Maggie (who found her forever home) and two siblings. She is the runt of the litter, currently weighing in around 16 pounds. But don't underestimate Eve based on her size because she has the heart of a lion. And don't tell Eve she's small because she thinks she's big stuff. She stands up for herself and can be mouthy when other dogs come up to the pen. She is brave, playful, friendly and spunky but she is also sweet and sensitive and enjoys a good cuddle. She loves to chew on toys, play with her siblings as well as playing and exploring in the yard. Eve isn’t a fan of water, so bath time is definitely not her favorite activity. If you’re in the Orlando area and believe your family has the time, energy, and love to dedicate to raising a puppy, we’d love for you to send in an application and share more about your family! Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Hi - my name is Chico. I’m a male 2-year-old, 11-lb. possible chihuahua and dachshund mix (some people call that a chiweenie, though I look more on the chi side). After a short time to warm up to you, I’ll be your best friend and shadow. I love cozy blankets, and playing with my toys. I’m working very hard on my potty training, am mostly crate trained but prefer being out and about, and walk AMAZINGLY on a leash. I'm a medium-energy kinda guy, so if you love walks then cuddle time I’m your man. I’m great with big and small dogs, and have been introduced to cats and did well. If the home has kids, I would do best with older children, since young kids make me nervous. I’m also nervous around new things, but with love and patience, I quickly learn to not be afraid. I’m a happy, sweet boy when I’m given just a little time to get to know you. For my young age, I’m a calm and relaxed dog and I actually don’t bark all that much. I know sit, down, and a recall, and do fine riding in a car. I have gone through training to help me learn how to meet strangers so a family who is willing to continue that on is a must. If you think you are the perfect family for my cute self, and you live in the Orlando area, complete an app and tell me how you would make me your special little man. January 27, 2025, 11:13 pm
