Story
Sprout is an adorable little guy! Sprout is about 2 years old and weighs about 10lbs. Sprout was attacked by a dog then rolled by a car so he wants to be your only dog. Sprout loves to sit next to you on the couch, he loves toys and yak bones.. he is a happy boy that will follow you around. Due to his accident, it take him a bit to allow you to pick him up so he needs a patient adopter that will go at his pace. Sprout really is a special boy and deserves a loving home. Story
Meet Freckles . . . A 2-year-old Pug/Chihuahua blend that weighs 18 lbs. of pure love. In fact, she loves everyone she meets! General Behavior: Freckles is an energetic and happy girl who loves to love (and be loved in return). Likes & Dislikes: Freckles is a big fan of the outdoors and loves to be outside running and playing.  She scores high marks in the “zoomies” category and is sure to offer loads of laughs. She also loves toys and a good old-fashioned belly rub. Training: Freckles is housetrained, if let out on a regular schedule. She walks well on a leash.  She is still working on basic manners, but training should be easy breezy since Freckles is very food and treat motivated. Medical: Freckles is a healthy girl and will just require her monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Other Animals: Freckles gets along well with other playful dogs of any size so a house with a buddy would be great.  She could also be an only dog as long as she gets plenty of outdoor playtime and exercise.  She should do fine with cats as well. Children: Freckles should do well with children of any age, as long as they are respectful. Home: Freckles likes to follow you around, so you can expect to have a shadow at times. We know she would love a single-family home with a fenced yard for playtime.  She would also be suitable for a condo or apartment, as long as she has plenty of walks throughout her day. After a day of play, she likes to dream overnight in her dog bed. Grooming: Freckles is a low-maintenance gal who will just need regular brushing and nails trimmed. Overall: Sweet, loving, easy-going, entertaining and energetic.  What more could you ask for? Are you the one for Freckles?  Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt.  You’ll be put in contact with her foster family if it’s a potential match.  Freckles is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and just had a dental cleaning.  The adoption donation for Freckles has been reduced thanks to a generous grant from Kia and the Petfinder Foundation, and is $300. ##2074517##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 6-7 yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes; maybe she should be renamed Sweet Pea! She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. Peanut tested positive for heart worm in September, but has been on a protocol since then, so we’re hoping she will be given the all clear soon. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped and alone on a country road at just 3 lbs., obviously starving. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill method, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you think you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations, please complete her app and tell us more about you. November 3, 2024, 8:42 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Beau Jangles (Bo Bo) Hey there, future family. I'm Beau Jangles, but you can call me Bo Bo. I'm a scrappy little approx. 3-year-old chihuahua/dachshund mix with some poodle and Russel-type terrier thrown in, weighing in at a proud 13.5 pounds of sheer cuteness and determination. Let me tell you a bit about my journey and what makes me, well, me! On July 6, I found myself in a pretty tough spot. I was rescued from the woods of Tomoka Park in Ormond after my previous owner decided to leave me behind. Can you believe it? I had to be trapped, living alongside Rocky the raccoon, Ricky the river rat, and even some scary alligators! Not exactly my idea of a cozy home. I still don’t understand why my family left me all alone in that big, scary place. But enough about that. I’m working hard every day to get ready for my forever home. I wear my harness like a badge of honor as I practice my leash walking skills. I’m a good boy, and I know I’ll make my future family proud. I’m crate trained and housebroken, and I absolutely adore other dogs and even cats. I spin in circles when I’m happy, at meal time and when it is time to go outside. I'm still learning to be friendly with strangers, but if you have some delicious dog snacks, I’ll warm up quicker than you can say "doggie cookie!" Sometimes I might guard my toys a little, but hey, who doesn’t love their favorite stuff? I do have a few fears—storms, screen doors, mailboxes and garages can be a bit much for me. But with a little patience and love, I know I can overcome them. Oh, and did I mention I love to swim? Who knew doxie mixes liked water? When it comes to bedtime, I’m happy to sleep in your room or even on your bed. Until I get to know you better, I might prefer to curl up on the floor in my bed right next to you. It makes me feel safe. I travel well in the car, preferring to look out the front window. I enjoy playing with toys, and my favorite thing is chewing on a Benebone. I’m ready to find my forever home, where I can share my love and loyalty with a family who understands me. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who is working hard to be the best boy he can be, I’m your pup. Let’s make some wonderful memories together! Beau needs an adopter experienced with dogs that can occasionally have attitude. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Beau Jangles, complete an app and tell us more about you. November 3, 2024, 8:42 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Shelly - she is almost 6 months old and currently weighs 15lbs. Shelly came to us with her momma Maggie (who found her forever home) and two siblings. She is very sweet, as well as calm and observant. Shelly is playful and friendly, but as much as she loves to play, she will never turn down a good snuggle.  She loves to chew on toys, wrestle with her siblings as well as explore the great outdoors in the yard.  Shelly doesn't seem to mind water and does well at bath time. She seems to be a big fan of children and meeting new people but like most puppies she tends to be mouthy and loves to chew, so she must always be supervised, especially with small children. She does well sleeping through the night in a puppy pen with her siblings. Potty training is a work in progress. She will use potty pads if not brought outside in time but definitely knows outside is meant for potty. Maggie, Shelly's mom, was a petite chihuahua mix. We don't know who her dad is but most likely some type of hound, cur or terrier. We anticipate she will be small/medium sized but can't be certain. Like all puppies she will need to have potty breaks every 2-3 hours and to continue her socialization with people and other dogs. Obedience training is highly recommended. A fenced yard is also important so Shelly can run around and burn off puppy energy. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe your family has the time, energy and love to devote to raising an active puppy, please send in an application and let us know more about your family. Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Joel aka Chunks. Joel is almost 6 months old and currently weighs 21lbs. Joel came to us with his momma Maggie (who found her forever home) and two siblings. Joel is friendly, playful and the mischievous one in the litter. He loves to chew on toys, play with his siblings, getting belly rubs and especially loves to eat. Joel seems to be a big fan of children and meeting new people but like most puppies, he tends to be mouthy and loves to chew, so he must always be supervised, especially with small children.
