Story
Goldie came to us at six weeks and will be a year old July 16th. She is very active, playful, energetic and loves to chew on things. She has her quiet moments and loves sleeping under sofas and chairs more so than the cage so its been hard to get her house trained. She likes to explore away from home from time to time and we don’t t have a fenced in yard. She loves belly rubs, tugging, licking and snuggling. Give her affection and you will have a friend for life. She needs training on what not to do but she is really a sweet and gentle pup. She needs grooming of her fur from fleas and her nails are sharp and too long right now. I have been trying to groom her at home but it became too difficult for me. I will really miss Goldie but she needs and deserves a great family who can help her grow into a happy and healthy dog. I tried my hardest to keep her but with my health and my family’s busy schedule it has just not worked out. Please take her in and love her for us. Thank you.

Story
Roxie has been in her new foster home approx 3 weeks. In that time, she has been found to be: independent snuggly when she wants to be.. she will let you groom her she is a quiet girl at first but will let you know when its dinner time she does get along with all the dogs but doesnt really play with them. coexisting is a good word. .she does not need a home with another dog. And no little barky dogs she likes to chase. she walks great on lead. totally housebroken will bark to go out. crates great in an xpen situation. has some barrier reaction in a smaller crate, we are working on that.. something happened to her while she was kept in a small crate. That has pretty much subsided, we do feed in the crate off and on. no children would be best, 16 or up okay.. no cats no chickens. she watches my neighbors like a hawk, good news she calls off she knows her name and has a recall. she does not know sit down etc. and at 10 do you need it? she does not get on furniture. i have 12 dogs here she does NOT get in the mix. Overall Roxy is a nice senior dog, that has had a crappy life. She needs time to adjust to a new home and new people, once she knows you, her tail wags and she dances when you come in. She does need a dog savvy person, she will make a great companion dog for older couple or older single person who wants a dog to walk watch the sunset with or watch tv with. She needs a quiet environ, and a slow consistent person she can learn to trust.. Fostered in Bradenton. Vet visit upcoming. 1/17 vet visit unremarkable. healthy senior pup. no issues.

Story
June Bug is a senior chihuahua whom Ive been told was one of many from a home/ owner surrender situation.. She is very dainty, scared of a lot of things. She doesnt see well, so I think that contributes to her fears. She does love to be held, and I think was a lap chi. She ignores other dogs, has sniffed a few and does not interact. She is very quiet does not bark, does her business out doors or on a pad. She hhas a great appetite, and seems healthy except for her eyesight. There do not seem to be cataracts present. She presents as snarling and mean, but if you talk to her, and pet her she relaxes and comes up to you to be picked up and held. This is a dog that is in need of a chi person. She is not the easiest but she is by far not the worst. She would do well in a home with a senior and one other chi or no other dogs. walks well on lead but does not like her neck handled. A harness would be a better choice for her. She is a burrower and has a chi bed that can go with her. She has an upcoming vet visit to examine her, but we will start taking applications. She will be a great dog for someone experienced with chihuahua. Fostered in Bradenton 9/13/23 UPDATE!! Junie has sight in her left eye only, so some of her cautiousness has to do with not seeing from the blind side. She is doing great with my 10 dogs and they are all much larger.. She accepts sniffs from them and she does interact, but does not play.. She is very alert and very healthy!! Loves to go outside, and now that she is used to where she is she prefers to potty outdoors. I can safely say she is house trained. She will jump up to my lap and hang out for a bit. She does well in her penned area, Ive yet to hear her bark. Loves to be outdoors in the sun. Rides well in the car with a harness. She will do well with an older couple or person, walks are great, and not a lot of activity in the home. Another dog is great for canine company, but not a puppy. She will be okay with older kids 15 and up. Great on walking on lead, harness will be better. She does need time to know new people, the less hands on the better. Let her approach you, she craves affection. Dental coming up and I suspect some pulled teeth. Fostered in Bradenton..

Story
Gracie is a wonderful and joyful girl. She is slowly warming up to people and will need patience to adjust. It will take time to gain her trust. She still not not approach anyone other than her preferred person. She is timid in new situations, but with consistent reinforcement, she has made great strides and is now walking on a leash every morning with her foster buddies. With patience and love, she will come out of her shell. Right now, her preference is for women. She is in a foster home with cats, small and medium dogs. She is a peaceful coexister more than a playful friend. She LOVES to go for walks. She goes outside to do her businesses. She keeps a clean kennel over night or while you are at work, preferring to go potty outside. She is very treat motivated. She should be ready to go Mid-June after her spay appointment. She is being fostered in the Jacksonville, FL area.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    Ryan is a shy with people does well with his pack friends. Ryan was left out side when his owners moved. He was on his own for about 11 months when animal control finally caught him. No one could touch him. He has come a long ways but needs someone who understands that it will take time for him to warm up to them. He does sit on my lap now and will sit next to someone he knows. He is an extreme flight risk until he can trust the person he is with.  He would do well if he has a playmate his size. He needs an experienced owner. He is not overly affectionate but loves to come on my lap and loves his back rubs and head scratchs. He also needs a secure fenced yard. He does not do well on a leash. Only experienced people with this type of dog will be considered for Ryan. Will not answer any emails just applications will be reviewed and considered. Ryan does not do well out side his environment. Needs someone who will be with him most of the time so he can start to feel secure not taken on trips or watched by other people. It will take time and he will come around to be a wounderful companion.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    July 1, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Macky Mack Mack came to us and landed with one of our awesome fosters at the end of March. At the time of his intake he had almost no hair on his body. He had lived outside on a lanai with minimal care and interaction for the majority of his life. Fast forward a few months and he's a little spitfire he is a little shadow and loves nothing more than to be with his people. Mack is estimated to be about 1-1.5 yrs old and is a chihuahua mix - perhaps a little papillon there too. He loves other dogs, knows how to fall into his pack spot very well and learns very quickly. He is left out during the day with no, well minimal destruction... paper towels, socks, perhaps a shoe are fair game! He gets you in the habit of keeping things picked up and put away pretty quickly! He is still in his puppy stage for the most part so playing with his mouth, jumping, needing to hear "no more than once are still in his day to day activities, but you won't find a better cuddler or side kick that will follow you everywhere! He is only about 15-20 lbs, so he's a little guy! Mack LOVVEEESS cats. But that love includes a bit of racing, tackling and snuggle love so any future kitty siblings must be willing to accept his version of love! He is a little skittish with new people so he will need a family with the patience to help him adjust. He plays rather rambunctiously and does jump some so we think he would do best with older kids. Mack's awesome foster has spent the last two months giving him the love and care that he needs and we are so impressed with the progress he's made. He isn't ready to be adopted today, as he still needs additional routine vet care, but he will be ready to go home soon!! If you are interested in adopting Mack please complete an adoption application at the link below. https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adoption-process

Story
Bengie is a cute, compact little guy with adorable spiky hair. He was very fearful when he arrived so he has been spending time in a foster home. We have learned that he can live happily with other dogs and also with cats. He enjoys going for walks and does not pull on the leash. He can still be very timid with new people, but he does become more comfortable in time and with patience. He is crate trained and generally very quiet except he barks with excitement when his foster mom gets home from work. Bengie longs to be your best friend and is very loyal and loving once he bonds with you. For an appointment to meet this special boy please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, https://satchelslastresort.org/adopt/.

Story
Pablo is a senior chihuahua with a ton of spunk and personality. He loves the outdoors. Whether it's laying in the sun in the backyard or taking walks, he's down with whatever. He loves to cuddle and will paw for more scratches if you dare stop. He sleeps the majority of the day but make no mistake about it, he will let you know when it's dinner time. Pablo gets along with other dogs and even toddlers. He is not tested with cats. Since Pablo is a senior, he has a heart murmur which is common with older chihuahuas. He also has a cherry eye which doesn't bother him. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. He is the perfect companion on road trips as he loves to go on car rides. He does well in public spaces and is very fond of the dog park. Pablo would fit into just about any family situation. Maybe yours?? Story
Meet Hunter! He is about 13 years old and weighs 12 lbs. He is in excellent health, neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations. Hunter LOVES people but does not like other dogs so he would be best as an only dog! He loves his foster mom's grandchildren, neighbors, family and friends and is very affectionate and loving. Hunter loves to sleep with his human and follows them around wherever they go. Hunter loves his walks. He is house trained and has never had an accident. Hunter is also crate trained but would prefer to lay on your couch. Hunter's mom is in hospice and wants to see him find a loving home. Could that be your home??
