Story
This sweet little 4-year-old Chihuahua is in search of his forever human, and he has so much love to give. His devotion and loyalty are unmatched, and he dreams of forming a deep, lifelong connection. Trotter’s journey hasn’t been easy. He originally found himself in a shelter alongside his cherished companion, but when his friend was adopted, Trotter was left heartbroken and alone in a noisy environment. The fear and sadness he experienced led him to chew anxiously at the bars of his cage, leaving him exhausted and injured. When we learned of his situation, we knew we had to step in and bring him to a safer, loving place. Now, Trotter is vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. He thrives on the love of his person and would do best as the only dog in a quiet home, as he can still feel overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of life. This little guy is a true velcro dog who simply wants to be by your side. If you feel you can offer Trotter the peaceful and loving environment he deserves, we invite you to apply and welcome him into your family. www.hillhounds.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please read the bio of the rescue you are interested in to insure you are a match if you are a match the first step is to complete the online adoption application  Mimi is a young female Chihuahua who came to our rescue very pregnant. Her pups have since been adopted and now its her turn to find her furever family.   She can be a bit shy at first but once she warms up she is your best buddy.  Full of kisses and follows you everywhere. She is doing very well with her crate training and has been started on leash training.   With a good schedule I'm sure her training will go well in her new home.  She would need to meet any potential new pet siblings.   No small children.  Mimi is up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines,  tested for heartworm negative and now current on preventatives. Microchipped and spayed. If interested in possible adoption please go to www.DelawareRescue.com and complete the online adoption application Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
*Bonded Senior Pair* Dog Name: Archer (tan) & Zoey (white&black) Breed: Chihuahuas Sex: Male & Female Age: 8 Weight: 8 & 10 lbs, respectively Medical Needs: Zoey is heartworm positive & has a heart murmur, so the fast kill option to treat the heartworms is not advised at this time. She will be rechecked in a few months to see how she has responded to just being on preventatives. Archer is missing most of his teeth and has lost most of his lower jaw because of it, so he needs to eat wet food. They both have luxating patellas and will occasionally walk with one back leg in the air. Housebroken: No. They will use puppy pads, but if given free roam without supervision they will absolutely go anywhere they please. Crate trained: Yes. They love their crate. Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: They don't really understand what it is and will freeze if you try to pull them along. Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: Unknown If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Older teens only. They are scared of fast movements and loud noises. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Archer and Zoey were rescued from a hoarding/neglect situation in GA. During this time, they were house in a kennel with several other dogs with limited human interaction. They understand that people bring them food, and that's about it. They are not snappy or bitey, preferring to run to the safety of their crate when scared/nervous. They deserve so much better than what life previously gave them, especially now in their senior years. A quiet home with people who are willing to accept that these 2 seek affection only from each other initially and will need an extensive warmup period before they get comfortable in a new home. They absolutely love to stroll around the yard in the warmer months and roll around in the grass. They also love beds. The fluffier the better. They really just seek out any and all sources of comfort they can find now that they know what it feels like. Fosters Location: Dover Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2175361##
