Story
If you’re looking for a young, adorable, super sweet and loveable little guy, Howie fits the bill. Although he loves to snuggle and keep your lap warm, he’s a lot of fun too! He enjoys playing with the other little dogs, his toys and exploring the yard and he’s active without being hyper. He’s always a happy boy and he loves everyone that he meets! Howie will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family! Howie is 8 months old (dob 7/27/25), weighs 11 pounds, has been neutered, 4DX heartworm tested, microchipped, fecal tested, is current on all vaccinations, worming, heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Howie is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area every week and his fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

Story
Juan is a very active and playful 11 year old Chihuahua. He loves to go for walks and play fetch, and gets all the zoomies of a much younger dog. He is currently in a foster home in Glastonbury with cats. Juan's person recently passed away, and he is doing his very best to pick up the pieces. He did not get a lot of socialization in his original home, and he will need patience and grace as he works through the changes in his life. Juan is truly a good boy who will thrive in a home familiar with Chihuahuas. His heart is huge and he very much wants to be a part of your life. He is triggered by fast, unpredictable movements, and would not be comfortable around children. He is currently in a foster home with cats, and wants to play chase with them, which is generally not welcomed. He would be most successful in a household without cats. Juan was seriously injured in a surprise attack by a large dog, and is now understandably wary of larger dogs. However, he is very active and playful, and would probably enjoy the company of another playful small dog after a gradual introduction and acclimation period. Juan is a marvel. He is a resilient, optimistic, joyful guy that needs thoughtful guidance from a loving and attentive owner. If you are that person, we would ❤️ to hear from you! Juan is neutered and vaccinated.

Story
Twinkle’s story is as heartbreaking as it is inspiring. She came to us after someone claimed to have “found” her wrapped in a soiled diaper. But after a little digging, we discovered the truth—it was actually her owner who had abandoned her under false pretenses. Even more devastating, she had posted online about Twinkle’s injury but waited too long to get her proper care. By the time she came into our care, it was too late for surgery. Despite that neglect, Twinkle has held onto her spirit. She has hind leg paresis, meaning she has partial mobility—not full paralysis. And while surgery was no longer an option, she’s made incredible strides through supplements and alternative therapies like acupuncture, electromagnetic treatment, massage, and physical therapy. She’s showing steady, meaningful progress. She does need her bladder and bowels expressed 3–4 times a day, but she’s a total champ about it—cooperative, patient, and even helps by posturing. The process takes just a couple of minutes. ? More about Twinkle: • Resilient, loving, and full of personality • Great eater and enjoys all the things mobile dogs do • Gets along well with other respectful animals • Best with older, calm kids (10+) • No other health concerns Twinkle is about 5-6 years old, She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases. Twinkle needs a special adopter—someone experienced or willing to learn about special needs care, with the time and dedication to help her thrive. She’s been let down before, but she hasn’t let it define her. She’s ready to love and be loved in a home that truly sees her. If you’re that kind of person, Twinkle is ready to be your shining light. Story
Welcome Draco to CCPAL foster program. Draco is a 3 year old 7 month old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund). He weighs about 9 pounds. He is very social and loves cuddles. He loves the good Samaritan that found him on the streets in the Texas snow storm. Draco is great with other dogs and we think his best home would be with another playful dog or a person that is home and would love to play ball, walk and cuddle Draco. He doesn’t dig or tear up anything in the house and he does his business outside. He will use a potty pad if it is too long for him to hold. He is an opportunist when a gate or door is open and will take that opportunity. He will stay behind a baby gate if there is one and his foster is also going to introduce him to a crate. Right now he is allowed partial free roam while she is away at work. He is super social and loving so he would be fine around children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is neutered, microchipped and will have all vaccines topped up before he leaves the Rescue. He likes strangers but will bark if someone is at the door. He is lower on the shed scale but he does shed. His arms curl around your hands when you pick him up. He really likes being held. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See his cute video!!

Story
Welcome Corporal to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 6-pound Chihuahua mixed with mini schnauzer. He has the look of the Chihuahua more than the schnauzer momma. He should be 10 pounds or less full grown. Corporal has some really neat looking multicolor feet. His mom looks exactly like a high mixed schnauzer. Corporal is flat coated and while he likes being held, he is playful. He is crate trained, good with his siblings, good in a car and uses potty pads. He isn’t overly vocal and is less assertive than some in his pack. He has a tough stance but he is a marshmallow. He is not a shedder at all that we can see. His coat is soft and flat and the schnauzer in him will make him less of a shedding dog as he grows up. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older, due to his small size. Puppies are best with someone not working all day every day. He needs time with his human and time to finish up his puppy training. He is small enough and social, so he would be a good one to take places with you. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.
