Story
Adoption Fee: $475 All animals are UTD on vaccines (may need boosters) and microchipped *Rosie is special needs. She will only attend adoption events if she has an interested family signed up to meet her* From the foster: Miss 109 is a small but spunky pup and is the perfect mix of chill and playful. She loves nothing more than curling up with you for snuggles, but is excited to joyfully bounce around and play when you toss a toy. She’s great with small children (no nipping or food aggression here). She’s got a sweet and silly nature and would be the perfect companion for cozy nights and playful afternoons. **From VRCC Cardiology: Rosie has 1. Double chamber right ventricle (DCRV) - mild 2. Ventricular septal defect (VSD) - mild, perimembranous left to right shunting Assessment: 109/Rosie's heart murmur is due the presence of two congenital heart diseases: 1) double chamber right ventricle (DCRV) and 2) ventricular septal defect (VSD). Congenital means that Rosie was born with these heart defects. Prognosis: The short term prognosis for Rosie's congenital heart diseases is currently good since her heart diseases are mild. Rosie's risk for developing cardiac complications in the near future is low. The long term prognosis for Rosie's heart diseases is currently fair to good but will ultimately depend on whether or not her DCRV progresses. Rosie's VSD is unlikely to progress, but Rosie's DCRV may worsen as she continues to grow. If Rosie's heart diseases remain mild, then Rosie's heart diseases are unlikely to affect her quality or quantity of life. If Rosie's DCRV becomes severe, then she will be at risk for developing cardiac complications such as fainting, right-sided congestive heart failure (abdominal fluid accumulation), abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), and sudden death. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE Medications: No cardiac medications are currently indicated. If Rosie's DCRV worsens, then cardiac medications and/or cardiac interventional procedures (minimally invasive procedures) can be considered. Activity: Rosie can continue her normal activities though I recommend avoiding very prolonged, strenuous exercise. Monitoring: Please monitor for abdominal distension, exercise intolerance, labored breathing at rest, coughing (progressive, worsening cough), episodes of collapse, lethargy, poor appetite and call if noted. PLAN FOR RE-EVALUATION As long as Rosie is doing well, I recommend a recheck echocardiogram with VRCC Cardiology in ~1 year to monitor for any worsening of her heart diseases, or sooner if concerns arise. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Dobby has been in our family for five years. We love him! However, we moved into a rental home that does not allow pets. We were able to find him a temporary home with friends who gracious enough to take him in. They are expecting a new child in a couple of months and feel that they cannot keep Dobby. We hate that we cannot keep him, but want to find him a loving new home. He is incredibly loyal and energetic. We rescued him from a shelter in Idaho and have kept his medical care up to date. We think there may have been some trauma in his earlier life as he is quite anxious. We think he might benefit from a home with calm people who can care for him.

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post.   Meet Ben, a 5-year-old Chihuahua and Pit Bull mix who has endured the unimaginable. Despite being tragically shot by a neighbor, Ben's spirit remains unbroken. This courageous canine has a heartwarming blend of loyalty, affection, and resilience that shines through, even in the face of adversity. Ben is currently recovering from his injuries and has partial paralysis. However, his sweet and loving nature remains undeterred. He is a gentle soul who enjoys the company of both humans and other dogs. Ben is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has a history of being kid-friendly. While Ben requires special care, including regular medications and assistance with expressing his bladder, his wheelchair provides him with mobility and independence. We are searching for a compassionate and understanding foster home or adoptive family who can offer Ben the love, patience, and support he needs to thrive. A donation will be offered to the adoptive family to help offset the costs of Ben's ongoing care. If you are interested in providing Ben with a loving home, please reach out to us. Let's give Ben the chance to experience the joy and companionship he deserves. highcountryvet@gmail.com 719.390.7995  December 22, 2024, 10:52 am

Story
As this statuesque   23 -pound brown beauty grows comfortable in her foster home, her sweet nature shines through. She enjoys cuddling, giving hugs to her foster humans, and playfully asking for love with her paw or by rolling over for belly rubs. Six year old Jasmine Jane loves to burrow under blankets, typical of her Chihuahua breed, and also delights in interactions with her canine foster siblings. Together, they play with toys, fetch balls, and go for walks, where she is honing her leash skills. Highly motivated by food and treats, Jasmine Jane is eager to please and is a quick learner. She has already mastered commands like “come,” “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “no,” and is nearly fully crate and house-trained. Jasmine Jane will thrive in a loving household, ideally with another playful dog, and patient adopters who can help enhance her socialization with people and other dogs, complete her training, and show her the joy of companionship!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Once past her initial shyness, little 5-year-old Lucy showed her foster parents how sweet she truly is. A natural born people pleaser, she puts all of her 15 pounds into LOVE, LOVE and more LOVE! The adored apple of her fosters’ eyes, she loves giving them kisses, snuggling and cuddling with them, resting her head on them and having her belly rubbed. When she’s not faithfully following after her foster mom, she’s learning to read the cues of her three canine companions, slowly growing more comfortable in their company while being cleverly outwitted by the dog-savvy cat. Moderately energetic at the moment, Lucy enjoys going for walks, walking excellently on leash, and then happily entertains herself by playing with toys, especially ones that squeak, hiding some of them in her crate and one in her foster mom’s closet. New to the joy of burrowing her way under the covers of her fosters’ bed, she’s just as new to knowing her basic commands, but since she’s highly motivated by love, toys and food, she should prove ever so easy to teach. Crate trained and almost fully house-trained, Lucy will do best in a particularly loving home, preferably with older children and possibly an easygoing dog, that will patiently bolster her confidence, continue her socialization and complete her training, including her commands, in return for a lifetime of Lucy LOVE.
