Milo does well with other dogs but prefers to do his own thing rather than play. Story
Apply to Adopt Me!Age: 11 years oldGender: FemaleBreed: ChihuahuaColor: White and BlackWeight: 3.7 kgAbout Me: Meet Lulu 🐾Age: ~11 years | Breed: Chihuahua | Location: Nanaimo, BCLulu is a tiny old lady with a big personality and very clear opinions—especially when it comes to treats! Since settling into her foster home in Nanaimo, she’s been feeling much better. She’s now on a special vet-recommended diet along with her injections, and the improvement has been wonderful to see. She’s very food motivated and has one specific type of treat she absolutely loves. When she thinks it’s time, she’ll dance around, follow you everywhere, and is also known to give a determined nose-boop to your leg as a reminder. In her foster home she eats separately so nobody steals her food, which helps keep everyone happy. She loves to sit beside you on the couch and happily sleeps in bed—preferably right on the pillow if you’ll allow it. 💛 She is well-versed in doggie stairs and ramps to get up and down, but if you forget to put them back into place, she will use all her might to leap onto the couch—and usually makes it.Lulu coexists with the dogs in her foster home but isn’t particularly impressed with the young, energetic one. She would likely prefer a calm home with older dogs or possibly being the only pet, where she can enjoy a quieter lifestyle. She watches the cat in her foster home but has not tried to interact with him at all—he is bigger than her and dog-savvy.Potty training has improved significantly. With no carpets in her foster home, she’s had only one accident (when her foster mom slept through Lulu’s usual 6:30 wake-up call 😅). She’s very close to being house trained but will still need routine and gentle reminders in a new home. She’s mostly a chill girl who naps much of the day but has bursts of funny, puppy-like energy. She walks on leash, though she has strong opinions about weather—rain, cold, or wind are often met with refusal and strategic “driveway pottying” to make a speedy return indoors.During low light she can startle easily, but if you wake her slowly or let her know you’re there, she’s happy to accept gentle pets and reassurance.Lulu is a quirky, lovable companion with so much charm to offer. She’ll make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and snuggle into your heart if you give her the time and space to trust. 🐾📍 Currently in Nanaimo, BC✈️ Transport available to approved adopters

Story
Chihuahua mix – White Male 10 weeks 4 pounds At Rancho Coastal, puppies become available for adoption starting at 8 weeks of age. Many of these puppies have spent time in loving foster homes, with some even being bottle-fed during their earliest days. As they grow into adulthood, puppies require ongoing training, socialization, and enrichment to thrive. Adopting a puppy is a significant commitment, and we encourage potential adopters to carefully consider their schedules, time spent away from home, and the ages and needs of all family members before making this life-changing decision. Most puppies arrive at the shelter as strays, so their histories are often unknown. Enrolling in a puppy class is highly recommended for all puppies in our adoption program to build a strong foundation for good behavior and bonding. To support this, adopters who complete a minimum 4-week introductory training course with a science-based dog trainer are eligible for a $50 rebate on the adoption fee.
