Story
Lil Miss Gigi is about as sweet as they come. Her favorite thing in the world is to curl up next to the person she loves. Unlike many chihuahuas she’s not a barker at all. However, she will squeal with delight and do a little dance when her favorite person comes home. Unlike most dogs Gigi doesn’t bond with who feeds her but bonds who sleeps with her so if your someone that doesn’t let your pup sleep with you, she’s not going to be the best fit. She’s a dog that needs as much human contact as she can get. Gigi is housebroken but being so tiny she has a small bladder and needs to be taken outside in the morning when she wakes up and a couple times a day. She’s fine through the night. Gigi does fine with other animals but due to her size we’d prefer no rambunctious big dogs as we don’t want her trampled. She still needs to be spayed which the rescue will cover prior to finalizing her adoption.

Story
Life’s just fetching with Finn! Hi, pals! My name is Philly, but you can call me Finn. I’m a fun-loving cuddle bug with unwavering loyalty. I’m a 3-year-old, 19-pound, Chi mix. I’m neutered and I’m a healthy little dude. I was rescued as a puppy but since my family had a human baby and I’m not comfortable around small children, I am looking for a new home that can truly love me furever! I am looking for an understanding individual or family that will allow me to thrive in a new, safe and loving home that gives me encouragement and allows me to show off my best self- the best boy! I’m an active fella who adores frisbee, swimming at the dog beach, and playing fetch all day, every day! I get along with dogs of all kinds but I can get protective over my toys. I also get along with cats! I do well kids (10+ years old) who are respectful of my boundaries. Even though I love having fun, I’m also a big fan of cuddles and pets. I adore my people and make sure to show you my affection. I’m a very good boy who is crate, bathroom, and leash trained… score! I can be a little fearful of new men and may take a bit of time to warm up before I feel totally comfortable. I can resource guard my food/toys and need to work on my sharing. I can get a bit anxious in new settings but with consistency and routine, my confidence will flourish. I do have an independent streak where I do things on my own, but I love a call out and I will come for belly rubs. If you’re looking for an adorable fella to be your bestie, look no further! I’d do best in an active home with teenagers (if any). If younger, as long as they respect my space and leave my toys alone, we will be chums! I would be fine with dogs too. I’d benefit from more positive reinforcement training and a solid routine. So what do you say? I’m a fun, spunky guy who will keep you on your toes and keep your heart full! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/   ##1060291##

Story
The dog of your dreams! Hello friends! My name is Venice, like your dream destination. I am 2 years old, a female spayed Chihuahua mix. I am a light little 10 lb girl. I was found roaming the streets by the San Diego pet recovery specialist Babs Fry. I have been at my foster home since then. I am crate trained, leash and bathroom trained. I am a total cutie, shy initially but energetic once I am comfortable. It will be zoomies all around! Decompression time is helpful for me. I adore playing with toys. Keep those pens away will ya, cuz I enjoy chewing them! I have been lighting up my foster home with my love and affection. I get along very well with cats! I don't have a lot of experience yet, but should be good with dogs too. Same goes for kids, but maybe older ones are better because of my skittish nature.  I am really looking forward to a loving home where I will be treated like a princess. I will make you fall in love with my sweetness! Once I get the potty training and leash training down, I will be the perfect dog. A mellow home, with plenty of playtime will be great for me. If you'd like to me your furever, let's meet! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Cutest tushi in town! Hi guys! My name is Tushi and I am a 3 years old, female spayed Chihuahua mix. I am a smallie 18 lbs. I was rescued from Antelope Valley CA from another rescue group who couldnt meet my medical needs. I have seen a ruff life and I am very touch sensitive. My foster family is working on gaining my trust and helping with touch and leash sensitivity. I am so glad that about their understanding and patience, and hope to have a furever family as amazing as they are! I am a sweet girl and my mama says that I look like a furever pupper! I have a sassy sway to my walk and a calmness about me. Due to me being so sensitive, I have mostly focused on decompression. And my love, sunbathing! Even though they cant touch me yet, I do go and cuddle right next to them and give face kisses! I am good around calm dogs who know how to respect my space. Same goes for sweet kids and I am friendly around them. I am not experienced around cats. I would love a sweet and patient family who will adore me! I would appreciate decompression time and will reward you with the most grateful kind of life. I will do well with mellow dogs and a nice yard since I dont go out on the leash. If you think we will be soulmates, let's meet! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. URGENT! My vet asked for my help in rehoming this angel as her owner is in a comma and not expected to make it. I am pleading for someone to help by adopting or fostering this angel. I usually foster, but my house is undergoing major construction, and I cannot foster the dogs myself. 10 year old chihuahua. Lives with another dog. She seems very sweet. The dog lives in Rosarito, Mexico, but I can bring him to San Diego. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

I am helping my vet find homes for 2 dogs. Their owner is in poor health and not expected to live for much longer. I am unable to foster due to a large construction project taking place in my home at this time. I know that the dog is a 10 year who gets along with the other dog that lives in the home. Please help me find a foster or adopter. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Story
Meet Minnie!  She was seen being tossed from a vehicle in a rural part of the county.  No one could find her and assumed her dead in an area thick with predators (owls, coyotes and cats of all sizes).  Days later she popped up, frightened and ran if anyone approached.  After reports of repeated sightings she was humanely trapped and her new life began.  No owner came claim to her so she went to foster where she decompressed and started to learn about love.  She was under a year old and clearly knew little of human touch or kindness.  After several months she learned to trust, walk on leash, bond and love.  Due to foster circumstances her time there had to terminate and she has continued her journey on site at the rescue facility.  After a year she tugs the heart strings of all volunteers with her sad dopey eyes, desperate need to love and be safe.  She loves her "normal".  She is always eager to go on her walks and does great with those she can trust.  She struggles with new people but is eager to please, treat motivated and warms up quickly if you go slow and let her lead.  She wants to snuggle.  Pillows are her favorite spot in bed.  She wants to be your shadow.  Despite her fear of people she is happy to go on adventures and enjoys her time in the company of those that make her feel safe.  She can be around dogs but does not share so can't live with other pets because she guards her stuff and people with animals (NOT people).  She has the little dog complex and no fear when taking on an animal challenge, which for sure is how she survived her time amidst the wilderness.  She continues to work on her world bravery with pack walks and outings but has done her time and is due for her home.  She has recurring cherry eye on both sides.  One has already been addressed surgically but came back.  Vet recommendation is to leave it alone if surgery did not cure and it presents no discomfort or irritation.  It comes and goes and does not bother her.  Vet's words were it looks worse to us than it feels to her.  Can you be patient, love unconditionally, have no expectations other than a deep soul connection?  If so, this girl is for you. Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Must be aware of open doors and windows.  Can NEVER be offleash in unfenced areas for life.To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1318876##

Pattie is a 2 year old, 18 pound mutt who likely has some Pomeranian and maybe some cattle dog in her.  This sweet girl is friendly and playful with other dogs, but also knows how to be calm and neutral when passing them on walks. She’s a people-lover too—she recently joined a run club and happily soaked up attention from everyone!  Pattie has a medium energy level: she’s up for a longer hike but is also content with a solid morning walk and then snoozing while you work. She was left at the shelter with no background info, but in just a few days, she’s already learning her name and basic commands like "sit" and "down." She’s also potty trained, good in the car, and sleeps in her own bed at night. Pattie may take a little time to warm up in new situations, but once she does, she’s an affectionate and loving companion. She hasn’t been tested with cats, and has had limited interactions with kids. She’s still learning to feel confident when left alone but will settle with time. Pattie will be a great companion for someone who works from home, or someone who is willing to work to build her confidence when left alone.  If you’re looking for a smart, sweet, pocket-sized adventure buddy, she could be the perfect match!  She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog.
