Story
Sunny was born in a dog shelter. We adopted him for our daughter during an adoption faire at our local PetSmart during COVID. Our daughter is now away in College and we can no longer take care of him. We love him though and would like to find a good new home for him. We believe he had a tough time during the first months of his life at the shelter. He is a loving fellow and deserve the same.

Story
Hello there friends, my name is Kimchi! I'm a 1 year old, 8 lbs., neutered male Chihuahua mix who is ready to steal your heart.  I'm a sweet and adorable boy that starts off a bit shy but as soon as I feel comfortable, I'll hop right in your lap for a good snuggle. I would love to go home with a family that can give me the love and patience I need to break out of my shell and become the outgoing Chihuahua hiding inside. Kimchi ID#A957624Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700 Fable – A Playful Tale in the Making!  Every great story needs a spark of adventure, and Fable is ready to bring that excitement into your life! This 3 month old bundle of energy is the definition of full of life—always ready to play, always eager to explore, and always the first to dive into a new adventure. From the moment she entered her foster home, Fable has been a whirlwind of fun, following her people around the house, tail wagging and curiosity shining in her eyes. Her daily routine is a perfect mix of play, meals, naps, and more play! She wakes up bright and early at 6:30 AM, heads outside for a potty break, then fuels up on breakfast before launching into playtime with her sister, Saga, and her foster family’s dog. After a well-earned nap, the cycle repeats at 12:30 PM and 6:30 PM, and by 9:30 PM, it’s bedtime in her crate—though she’d probably prefer to keep playing! Fable’s favorite things? Toys, toys, and more toys! She especially loves chew toys and is always eager to chase after anything that moves. She’s never met a stranger—every person, dog, and even inanimate object is a potential new friend. While she’s full of energy, she’s also incredibly friendly and eager to learn, making her a wonderful companion for an active family. Raising a Puppy Like Fable Fable, like all young puppies, is still learning the ropes of being the perfect family dog. She’s crate trained and working on potty training (though puppy pads are more like toys to her right now). She’s also discovering the world of manners—learning when to bark (and when not to), what’s okay to chew, and how to respect older dogs. Her ideal home? A family who is ready for fun! She thrives in an active environment where she’ll get plenty of playtime, training, and love. If you’re looking for a puppy who will keep you on your toes, fill your home with laughter, and ensure there’s never a dull moment, Fable is the one for you! Adopting a Puppy – What to Expect Raising a puppy is an exciting and rewarding journey, but it also takes patience, consistency, and lots of love! Fable and Saga are both playful, social puppies who are eager to learn, but they still need guidance as they grow. Their new family should be ready to: Provide training and structure – They’re still learning about potty training, leash walking, and basic commands.Give plenty of playtime – These girls have energy to burn and will thrive with daily exercise and mental stimulation.Teach good manners – Like all puppies, they’re still figuring out what’s okay to chew, when to bark, and how to interact with other pets and people.Shower them with love – Whether it’s playtime, belly rubs, or snuggles, these puppies are looking for a family to adore! If you’re ready to start an unforgettable adventure with Fable or Saga, we’d love to hear from you. One of these sweet girls might just be the perfect new chapter in your family’s story!  Fable is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 5 years. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 7 years.February 7, 2025, 11:11 am

This adorable 9 month old Chihuahua mix weighs in at just 6.6 lbs, making her the perfect purse-sized companion. Thumbelina might be a bit shy when she first meets new people or finds herself in unfamiliar situations, but don't let that fool you – she's a total love bug waiting to blossom in the right home.   Thumbelina's days are filled with fun and cuddles. She typically wakes up between 7:00 and 7:40 AM for a potty break and short walk, followed by breakfast around 8:00 to 8:30 AM. From then until lunchtime (12:00-1:30 PM), she enjoys relaxing with TV or white noise, playing with her toys, and snuggling with her doggy foster siblings while her foster mom works. Lunch is followed by a mile-long walk, and the afternoon is spent playing, napping, and entertaining herself until her evening walk (another mile or so) between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Dinner is at 7:30 PM, and bedtime is around 10:30 PM.   Thumbelina is a tiny dog with a BIG personality! While initially reserved, she quickly wiggles her way into everyone's hearts, both human and canine. She's come a long way from being a loner; now she snuggles with her foster siblings and charms everyone she meets. She may be a bit barky when first encountering new canines on leash, but she's just making sure they know that her tiny self is there!   This curious girl loves to explore but always returns to the company of her foster family. She doesn't need to be constantly glued to a human, but when work is done or the weekend arrives, she's ready for all the love and attention. Due to her small size, a home with larger, highly energetic dogs might not be the best fit, as she could easily be accidentally trampled. Gentle dogs like her foster siblings are ideal companions.   Thumbelina is full of life and eager to experience the world. She's a fantastic car rider and loves going to the park, where she can run and play. However, she can be easily startled and might 'pancake' to the ground if she feels unsure in new environments or around new people. She also doesn't do stairs.   This sweet girl is a true gem! She knows she's adorable and has a special 'army crawl' she uses to approach you. She knows her name and wiggles with joy when you sing it to her. She's tiny but oh-so-smart! While she can't jump onto the bed, she's clever enough to use a chair as a stepping stone. If you're looking for a loving, portable companion who will fill your life with joy, Thumbelina is the perfect fit! Thumbelina is only an option for homes with prior dog experience. Kids should be gentle and dog savvy.February 17, 2025, 2:01 pm

At just 6 months old and a whopping 4.6 pounds, Fruit Bat is proof that the best things come in the tiniest packages! With her delicate little frame, batty ears, and big, soulful eyes, she’s the perfect pint-sized companion for someone looking for a pocket-sized pup. Whether she’s tucked into a cozy sweater, peeking out from a purse, or burrowing under a blanket like a little bat in her cave, Fruit Bat is happiest when she’s close to her people. This sweet girl has had a whirlwind start to life—she was lovingly surrendered when her previous owner was hospitalized after a car accident, unable to care for her anymore. Despite the sudden change, Fruit Bat has blossomed in her foster home, gaining confidence each day. She’s a mix of playful puppy energy and champion-level snuggler, zooming around with her tiny paws one moment and curling up on a warm lap the next. Her favorite activities include chewing on puppy-sized toys (or occasionally stealing socks), chasing after her cat bestie, and perfecting the art of the burrow. If there’s a blanket nearby, you can bet Fruit Bat will be under it! Still working on her leash skills, Fruit Bat has only recently started going on walks. She may be small, but she’s brave—while new experiences can be a little overwhelming, she quickly adapts when she knows she’s safe. She’s nearly perfect with her potty pad training and is learning that the world outside is just another big adventure. Her daily routine is as cute as she is! In the morning, she patiently waits in her pen at the foot of the bed for her humans to wake up. After a playful start to the day, she crunches on her breakfast before settling in for a mid-morning nap. She spends most of her time curled up on the couch with her foster family, alternating between play sessions, cuddles, and sneaking cat toys to add to her personal collection. Evenings are for more zoomies, snacks, and burrowing under blankets until bedtime. If you’re looking for a dog you can dress up like a doll, sneak into your tote bag, or have as a constant cuddle buddy, Fruit Bat is the perfect match. She may be tiny, but she’s got a heart big enough to fill your whole world. Will you be the one to give this little bat her forever roost?February 17, 2025, 10:09 pm
