Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Female, 7 years old (estimated), 11 pounds The regal Duchess is ready to be pampered in a palace of her own, but could benefit from some time off her throne in order to achieve her optimal health. After living on the streets, it's no surprise that Duchess is relieved to just relax at home. We are confident that some nice strolls around the block will do her a world of good. She gets along just fine with other dogs (including the many dogs in her foster home), but she prefers watching dogs from a comfortable distance. Not a fan of rambunctious puppy energy, Dutchess appreciates creatures that are small, quiet, and as calm as she is. This sweet girl's dream is to find a sunny spot and a soft bed in a peaceful home. She is also looking for a forever person who will work with her on weight management, gently increasing her activity level. After being found as a stray, Duchess came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services.

Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Female, 8 years old (estimated), 9 pounds Jingle Belle is a resilient little lady who we're excited to see come out of her shell more and more in time. This sweet small gal appears to have had a rough past, but she's not letting that stop her. Slowly but surely, we're seeing her let people and other pups into her circle. Jingle Belle needs some TLC and patience, but with the right family, we know she'll thrive! Jingle Belle would do best in a quiet home without children, but we think she'd do well in a home with other dogs, especially if they enjoy snuggling. She also gets along well with cats. This little sweetheart needs a lot of rest and is very low energy, so she needs someone to help her take everything one day at a time. We are continuing to treat her for medical issues in our vet clinic, and it's recommended that she receive prescription GI food as she has a very sensitive tummy. Jingle Belle has grown fond of his foster sibling Winifred, if possible we would love for them to be adopted together. This tiny girl came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was found as a stray.

Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Male, 6 years old (estimated), 8 pounds If you're looking for a snuggle buddy, you've found a perfect pal in Milo. This little ball of affection bonds strongly with his caretaker, so you know that with Milo by your side, you'll always be surrounded by love. This sweet little guy wants nothing more than to spend the day with you, whether that means being at home, on a walk, or on a road trip. Milo will always be ready to cover you in kisses. Milo can sometimes be anxious and vocal around new people or animals and can take a while to warm up to strange situations, so his ideal adopter will need to have some patience to help him overcome his fears. Milo may be happiest as the only apple of your eye, but he might also do well with another calm, small dog in the home. Milo came to us after his senior guardian could no longer care for him.

Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Male, 10 years old (estimated), 12 pounds This fun and active little dude is generous with his tailwags, is engaged, happy, and inquisitive all day long, and will provide undivided moral support to whatever you do. Cadbury loves to hang out with his people, snuggle belly-up on the couch, and soak up all the attention he can get. He enjoys roaming around the yard and going for brisk walks or trail hikes. On car rides, he is an excellent co-pilot, preferably taking in the scenery with his nose out the window. He can be selective about other doggy friends, and he will chase after and bark at cats and is thus looking for a feline-free home. We don't know yet how he behaves around children, but we assume that he will enjoy their company. Besides missing a good number of his teeth, Cadbury is in excellent health. His muscles are toned and his joints are creak-free. With his smiley face and beautiful rich chocolate-colored coat, this lucky little charmer has everyone around him swooning in no time. He is very much looking forward to being part of a loving household and to be your best buddy forever. Cadbury came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services so that we could address his dental disease.

Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Male, 12 years old (estimated), 6 pounds Whoever has had the pleasure of meeting little Chico can certify that he is an expert snuggling lapdog! How he has not been scooped up yet is beyond us! This super sweet, friendly, happy and mellow guy loves to be picked up, held, pet and cuddled by anyone, young or old. Not to mention his fur is velvety soft! At his foster home, he loves to snuggle in his favorite nook on the couch or sun himself outside on the patio for hours. He gets along really well with other dogs and even gets along great with cats. He enjoys walks and is great on a leash, and equally loves being carried in a pouch while his foster runs errands. He's truly the most easygoing companion. His silly tongue often pokes out, which perfectly matches his goofy personality and adorable face. He would love nothing more than joining a quiet, low-activity household where he can spend time with his loving people. Chico came to us from a shelter in Sacramento. We can't wait to see him land with his forever family! Whoever adopts him will truly have hit the jackpot with this boy!

She's happy to be by your side! One of her favorite activities though is joining you for food time! She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, both big and small, although she loves to boss around other dogs that will allow it! We don't know yet how she does around kitties or children. Sweet Miss Darby joined us from an overcrowded shelter in Central California. We're happy to help get Darby the medical care she needs and to find that loving forever home to call her own!

Story
MEET SAMSON! This little 8-year-old boy needs a home! Samson is a Chihuahua mix on paper, but could have some Dachshund in him given his slender nose and longer body. He's got the most interesting color patterns and floppy ears. Whatever his mix, he's cute. Samson is a bit sky & timid at first, but once he gets to know you he will be happy for attention. He gets along great with other dogs, though is more submissive so should not be with an alpha dog. He already had a dental and is neutered, vaccinated & chipped. Samson weighs 10 lbs. He would do best in a quiet home with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. Please email for an application.

Story
**I qualify for the HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS NAME YOUR OWN ADOPTION FEE SPECIAL through the end of the year!**Meet Fawn! Fawn came to the SCSPCA with several of her friends. They grew up in a ‘hoarding situation’, meaning they were living in a less than desirable situation with several other animals. Because of this, they haven’t quite mastered many of the skills and behaviors that one would expect from ‘normal dogs’. We certainly hope that these guys go on to live well-adjusted lives and thrive in their adoptive homes, but there are a few extra things adopters need to consider when it comes to adopting one of these very special miracle dogs! If you would like to hear more about them, please call or stop by the shelter during our Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.

Story
Looks like: Papillon mix Female, 11 years old (estimated), 17 pounds Sprinkles is a true companion. She's happiest when she gets to be by your side. This sweet and gentle pup can take a moment to warm up, but when she does, she wants nothing more than to pepper you with kisses and love. This little ball of love just wants to be your furever friend. This sweet girl is currently overweight and has trouble getting around, both due to her size and possible arthritis. She is currently being evaluated to try and help her get her mobility back. Though she struggles with a lot of movement, she does sometimes get some short bursts of energy. Sprinkles is a very people-friendly dog. Before placing her in a home with children, we'd like to be sure all interactions were monitored and young kids were respectful. Sprinkles may do well as the only apple of your eye, but she may also do well with another mellow pup, especially as Sprinkles does not like to be left home alone. Sprinkles came to us from Sacramento County Animal Shelter so that we could help with her medical needs.
