Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650   Meet the Charlie Brown puppies: Linus, Lucy, and Peanut — a trio of tiny Chugs who may be small in size, but are already big on personality. Rescued from the shelter at just six weeks old, these little peanuts have now reached 8 weeks old and are in the 4–6 lb range. Much like their Peanuts namesakes, they each bring something very different (and very entertaining) to the table.       Daily routine (because even puppies appreciate a good schedule):       The day starts bright and early between 6–7am with everyone heading outside for potty time. Once business is handled, the puppies usually romp around together before heading back inside for breakfast at 7am. After that, it’s a classic puppy cycle of nap, play, potty, repeat. They eat lunch at 12pm and dinner at 6pm, with frequent outdoor potty breaks and playtime sprinkled throughout the day. In the evening, all the pups pile onto the couch for movie-time cuddles before heading back into their x-pen for bedtime at 9pm. While the family is at work or school, they stay safely in their pen and are taken out regularly for play and potty breaks.       From scared shelter pups to confident little characters:       When they first arrived, the puppies were understandably overwhelmed. The first few nights included some middle-of-the-night crying as they adjusted to a new environment. After a few days of decompressing, and especially after their first week, their true personalities began to shine. Now they are confident, playful, affectionate puppies who clearly feel safe and loved.       Meet the cast:       Linus is the perfect balance of calm and playful. He enjoys wrestling with his sisters just as much as he enjoys settling down. He is a great communicator and will always let you know when he's ready for some snuggle time.       Lucy lives up to her name as the outspoken one. She is spirited, brave, and loves playtime. Lucy is always ready for adventures, exploring new things, and making new friends.       Peanut is the quiet observer and resident cuddle expert. She is happiest curled up in a lap or nestled into a pile of blankets. She’s calm and gentle, until her siblings push their luck— then she’ll remind them she can hold her own.       Social skills:   These puppies live with two resident dogs (one tiny, one about 20 lbs) and generally do very well with them. They especially love playing and wrestling with the smaller dog. They also live with two boys, ages 11 and 13, and get very excited to see them— expect enthusiastic face-licking. Like most puppies, they do enjoy chewing on hands and fingers, but they redirect well to bully sticks and toys.       Energy level:   Linus and Lucy are the more energetic duo who love to play and wrestle, while Peanut is more of a couch-loving lounger who prefers cuddling, especially with kids.       Potty training and habits:   They are familiar with potty pads and a doggy door. In their pen, they consistently potty only on the pads and never on blankets or bedding. Outdoor potty training is underway and improving, though weather has made consistency a bit challenging. They usually potty quickly when taken to grass or turf.       Ideal home:   A home with kids and/or other dogs would be a dream for these puppies. They thrive on interaction, play, and companionship, and would love a yard where they can zoom, wrestle, and explore.       Why they’re special:   These puppies are affectionate, playful, and easy to care for—just good, loving pups who want to be part of a family. One of the foster’s favorite moments is watching them wind down and fall asleep in a tangled pile of tiny bodies, which feels very on-brand for a Peanuts bedtime scene.       Whether you’re looking for a Lucy who keeps life lively, a Linus who brings balance, or a Peanut who excels at cuddling, this trio is ready to bring a little comic-strip joy into your home.January 7, 2026, 11:46 am

To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $600 Meet Harley! Harley is a 4 year old, 5 lb (TINY!) Chihuahua who was rescued from a noisy, overwhelming shelter — a scary place for such a little girl. But once she left that behind, her true personality started to shine! Harley is gentle, loving, and devoted — a little shadow who just wants to be near her favorite person.   Her foster says Harley is a total sweetheart who has quickly adapted to home life. Her mornings start around 6 a.m. with a quick potty break in the yard, followed by her favorite ritual: snuggling back into bed with her humans. Breakfast is served around 7, and she loves hunting for her kibble in a snuffle mat or treat puzzle. Harley enjoys a few short, brisk walks throughout the day, with plenty of time for cuddling in between. Her evenings end with dinner, a cozy lap session, and curling up in bed — ideally tucked under the covers beside her person, her absolute favorite place to sleep.   Harley’s personality is calm and affectionate. She’s a true lap dog and Velcro companion who thrives on closeness and attention. She loves being praised and melts into your arms for cuddles. She’s a low-energy, low-maintenance girl — more of a lounger than a hiker — who still enjoys sniffy strolls and the occasional chase after a squirrel. She’s alert and will give a few barks to announce visitors, but quiets quickly once she knows all is well.   Harley is working on her housetraining and doing well with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement. She’s fine with gentle children, though their high energy can make her nervous, and is fine coexisting with other calm dogs, though she's not interested in playing and may be a bit put off by dogs with a ton of energy. She's a low-key lady!   What makes Harley special is how deeply she bonds with her person. She’s incredibly sweet, obedient, and full of love — the kind of dog who makes every day brighter just by being near you. Whether she’s snuggled into a blanket on the couch or curled up in bed, Harley’s happiest when she’s close to the person she adores.   If you’re looking for a tiny companion who will love you with her whole heart and make you feel like the most important person in the world, Harley is waiting to meet you.  December 22, 2025, 4:49 pm

Not good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Cisco  is a playful, affectionate, happy little guy who enjoys chasing balls (his favorite) or small plushy toys, sofa cuddle time, long walks, playing at the dog park, treats, and mealtimes. He needs a little time to build trust with his humans before his wonderfully sweet and cuddly personality comes out. The short wait is so worth it! Energy Level?  Medium  House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash?   Cisco  pulls a bit on the leash, but otherwise does very well.  Describe how they are with other dogs?  He generally ignores other dogs at first, but when he encounters one he feels comfortable with, he initiates play. If  Cisco  feels the other dog has crossed a boundary by playing too roughly, he will try to correct them. He's small but mighty! Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  He's good with respectful dogs. He has met one dod savvy cat, and he initially barked at him.  Commands they know? Sit What are their favorite things?  Playing fetch with balls (his favorite) or small plushy toys, sofa cuddle time, long walks, playing at the dog park, treats, and mealtimes. What do they need to work on?  Building confidence with new people, and would benefit from more obedience training. He is a very smart little guy and would learn quickly. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  He's fine being left alone. He will sleep.  Where do they sleep?  He is fine sleeping in a crate or just on a bed on the floor. What is their ideal home?  He would do well in a quiet, adult-only household, either as an only dog or with other respectful dogs. Cisco is 6 years old and 7 pounds.
