Story
Precious is part of a bonded pair. We inherited her from my mom after she went into a memory care facility. Precious is a 10 year old Chihuahua Mix that is fun and playful. She has been known to play catch every so often. She loved sitting close to my mom throughout the day and provided a sweet comfort as only a dog can do. Precious loves going for walks around the neighborhood, eating snacks, and getting lots of attention. About 8 years ago, Precious developed an autoimmune disorder that almost took her life. Thankfully, with treatments, she has been in remission since then; no longer requiring treatments. Something to note is that she cannot get annual vaccinations as this can push her out of remission. Precious remains spry and playful. She and her bonded buddy, Blacky, play randomly through the day with each other. They would be great for any home as they provide much love.

Hello!  We are Buzz and Cody!  Buzz is a 4 year old, neutered Chihuahua that weighs about 16lbs and Cody is a 8 year old, neutered Chihuahua that weighs about 19lbs. We love each other very much and must stay together!  Buzz is more outgoing and enjoys exploring and sniffing everything while on walks.  Cody looks to Buzz for guidance and is more on the timid side but is very sweet.  We'd prefer a family with children 6 years older. If you are looking to add 2 adorable little gentlemen to your home, we might be the perfect fit! Just ask Customer Service about Buzz and Cody! Story
FOSTER CARE! Hello, I'm Artie! I'm a 3-and-a-half-year-old, 13lbs., neutered male, Chihuahua/Pomeranian/Poodle mix with the most adorable underbite you've ever seen! When I came into the shelter, I was really shy, so I went into a foster home, where I could practice being brave and meeting new people. I've made a lot of progress, but I still get nervous when encountering strangers, so I'll need an adopter who will continue working on my socialization. Once we're buddies and I trust you, you'll see that I'm a happy, friendly, playful guy who loves his toys -- especially tennis balls! I do well at the groomer, I'm housetrained and crate trained, and I walk politely on leash. Overall, I'm a silly little guy who loves to play but also enjoys settling down and hanging with my people.  Artie ID#A954638 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650 Meet Toaster Strudel – Your Pint-Sized Bundle of Joy!   At just 9 weeks old and weighing in at a mighty 3 pounds, Toaster Strudel is the tiniest adventurer you’ll ever meet! This Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix may be small, but his personality is larger than life. From the moment he bounces out of bed at 6 a.m. for a quick potty break (followed by a second nap, of course), Toaster is ready to charm his way into your heart. He spends his mornings frolicking in the yard, wrestling with his foster brother Scout, and occasionally taking a spin around the neighborhood in his favorite sling. Whether he's playing tug-of-war, exploring new sights, or attempting to chase his own shadow, Toaster is always the life of the party.   When playtime winds down, Toaster is the ultimate cuddlebug. He loves to burrow into blankets, pillows, or even your sweater, making him the coziest little companion. This green-eyed heartthrob is learning the ropes of crate training and leash manners, and he’s eager to please. He’s also working hard on potty training, with impressive progress for such a young pup. Toaster isn’t just cute—he’s a smart cookie, too! He’s already learning commands like 'sit,' 'leave it,' and 'stay,' fueled by his love of treats and his determination to be the best boy.   Toaster Strudel is looking for a forever family who can keep up with his puppy energy and give him all the love and snuggles he deserves. He’d thrive in a home with another playful dog or someone who can spend lots of time with him. Whether you’re working from home or exploring the great outdoors, Toaster will be your loyal sidekick, running full speed ahead to keep up with the action. Ready to add a sprinkle of sweetness to your life? Toaster Strudel is ready to meet you and melt your heart!   We are looking for a home that has had a dog in the last 5 years. We do require the most experience for our youngest puppies as they need it. If there are kids they need to be over the age of 5.January 26, 2025, 5:55 pm

She's a petite lil gal who weighs about 12 lbs. She's one of those dogs who may not quite stand out from the crowd at first glance, but she has the most amazing personality and is the kind of dog that everyone would want to own!  Vienna is a total sweetheart. She bonded quickly with her foster family, a multigenerational household (grandparents on site). She is a little nervous when she first meets a new person but she warms up pretty quickly, especially with treats. She loves to cuddle and rests on the sofa with us all day, and sleeps on the 9-year-old’s bed at night with him. She does not follow her folks from room to room, but perks up and watches when they go into the kitchen. She loves to go on outings and she is very calm. She rode around in the cart at Ikea one busy day and curiously watched all the activity. She's ready for adventures, wherever they may take you! Vienna eats breakfast when she gets back from her morning walk and jumps back onto the bed where her doggie bed and heating pad are. She rests there while the family gets ready for their day. Sometimes she stays home with her cat brother. She is happy to stay in a crate when the family goes out if she doesn’t go along. She cries a little but settles down quickly. She goes out for short walks in the yard all throughout the day. She eats dinner around 5pm and then goes out for another longer walk. Vienna has the perfect balance of playful and lazy: She is a mix- she loves to lounge but also wants to engage in play sometimes too! Vienna will use potty pads and also tells her foster when she needs to go out. Her bladder is small because she is so tiny! She has access to potty pads during the night and uses them reliably.   She is crate trained. The first night, as soon as the lights went off, she jumped off the bed and into her crate on her own! Since then her fosters have had her sleep with them on the beds because they love to cuddle with her, but she would happily sleep in the crate if that is what her new person prefers. Foster mama says: 'She’s so stinkin’ cute and tiny- when we come in the door, she wiggles around in excitement and pins her ears back. I think it’s funny when she runs at the cat but then when she gets to him, just stops because she realizes he’s twice her size! The cat just looks at her in amusement.' Vienna could be your work from home buddy. She could be an office dog. She could stay home while you work! She could be in a home with dogs and/or cats, or she could be your one and only. She's quite versatile! Vienna is an option for any type of home that is ready and willing to spoil her rotten. She is an option for kids over the age of 6; smaller ones might startle and scare her.        January 29, 2025, 1:49 pm
