Story

Duke was adopted 9 years ago from a non-profit rescue. He was about 3 months old and was found with a 2 year old dog. The caregiver did not want to split up the two, so we took them both. His buddy passed about 3 years ago. Duke is a caregiver for other dogs. Any dog we have around, Duke likes to clean their eyes, ears. He follows them and enjoys company of a buddy dog - no matter how large. As you can see, he is a Deer Headed Chihuahua with log legs (#4 leg shot). He has amazing hearing and will let you know when any Delivery person is on the way to your door. Duke has had vet exams yearly and according to our Veterinarian, is a healthy little 10 lb dog. He does not like to be cuddled by humans, but does like to have a fluffy bed, sleep under a blanket or near another dog. He made it out of the Campfire with our family and he is the last dog out of the bunch. We are moving to a Condo in SoCal and cannot bring him. I do not want to subject him to the pound.

Mender is a 6 lb bundle of personality. He loooves to play with humans and toys and makes hilarious growling noises while getting chased around. But his greatest love is of sunbathing. He also enjoys sitting in your lap in the morning as he wakes up. He acts quite catlike in how he cleans himself often. He is excellent on leash, housetrained, and crate trained. He knows sit, paw, and down. He only barks when someone is at the door, but quiets down quickly with a firm “shh!”. He will go into his crate on his own at 9:30pm for bedtime. He loves his routines! He would make an excellent travel companion as he fits well in a pet carrier and is only 11 inches tall at the shoulder. He displays aggression towards other dogs as his now-healed jaw injury was likely caused by another dog, but can warm up to co-exist peacefully with another dog (it just takes a few days of adjustment - see photo!). He is so small that he cannot inflict any damage, so if you have a non-aggressive dog at home, he would do very well.November 6, 2024, 11:54 pm

Mac is a young two-year old male black with white furnishings male dog. He is 50% Cattle Dog and 50% German Shepherd - per Embark DNA. He is excellent on leash but has NO recall off leash - he is high energy, with a fabulous personality. Dislikes cats but is bonded to Flea who is a two-year old pure bred Chihuahua(you will have Mac and Flea, not Mac and Cheese). Flea worships the ground that Mac walks on but he also does not allow himself to be pushed around. He lives to sit on someone's lap and be cuddled when he is not following Mac. These two boys were strays and their owner has never been found. It is time for these two gorgeous boys to go to a home where they are loved and appreciated for their temperaments, intelligence and great looks. Mac weighs about 60 pounds and Flea weighs 4 pounds.
