Meet Clementine, the chihuahua mix. Clementine came in with her two citrusy themed pals (Yuzu and Pomelo) as strays. All three were fairly shy and unsure upon arrival to the Shelter. With time and patience, they started to show more of their sweet, than tart sides. Clementine will thrive with a dog-savvy adopter that will take things slow, especially in the transition. She may enjoy a home with another canine companion who is more confident. This will help show Clementine that the world is not so scary and provide her with some same-species socialization. We do not have any history of Clementine with children or other animals.If you have a quiet household and want to see a little pup blossom, consider meeting Clementine today!Clementine is available for preadoption at this time. Come to the Shelter, meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Meet Kissy, the five year old female chihuahua mix. Kissy arrived at the Shelter after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her due to some life changes. She is described as friendly – curious about new people and jump on their laps. She has lived with her sister (Missy, who is also up for adoption) as well as another small breed dog. Kissy has lived with children and has coexisted. She has been around a kitten and coexisted. When left alone, she would sleep. Kissy is trained to go potty on pee pads. She likes to play with toys (primarily squeaky toys). The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption.
