This sweet guy loves soft blankets, easygoing strolls, and soaking up affection from anyone willing to offer it.Chester is friendly, and incredibly affectionate. He has a big personality in a small stature and wants to be wherever you are. He's working on trimming down a bit, and he's more than happy to join you on short walks. Most importantly, Chester is deeply bonded to his brother, Linus, and these two are looking for a forever home as a pair. They are each other's comfort, nap buddies, and favorite playmates. Seeing them play together is guaranteed to melt your heart. Please note: we are only considering adopters that are willing to keep these two men together**Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. Story
🏠 Currently in a Vancvouer foster homeHi… my name is Kkamang 🖤I’m a 1 year and 6 month old Chihuahua mix boy, just 5kg (11 lbs) — small enough to fit in your arms, and hoping to fit in your heart too.I was rescued from a dog meat farm. Since the day I was born, I didn’t know what it felt like to have someone call my name. No warm arms. No soft whispers. I wasn’t a “someone” — I was just… there. Inside a metal cage, each day wasn’t about learning. It was about enduring. I learned how to be quiet. How to wait. How to survive. So when I first meet someone new, I pause for a moment. It doesn’t mean “go away.” It means, “Is it really safe this time?” But if you offer me a gentle voice… a small treat… a little patience, my tiny wall falls very quickly. Because the truth is — I like people. I always have. Once I know you, I’m much more affectionate than you’d expect. I’ll press my little body right next to you, sit close, and look into your eyes as if I’m asking for love. No one ever taught me how to be loved, but somehow, I know how to want it.I get along quietly and peacefully with other dogs too. I don’t cause trouble. I know how to share space and not feel lonely.Home life, though… that will be new for me. A house. Daily routines. Rules about where to potty. Time spent alone. I may make mistakes. I may be clumsy at first. But those moments won’t be because I’m lacking — they’ll simply be signs of a life I was never given the chance to learn. Please wait for me. Please teach me slowly. If you do, I will trust you with my whole heart. I will become a deeply loving, loyal little family member who believes completely in my person.I was born just to survive. Now, I want to live. I want a life where I don’t fear being sent back to a cage. A life where I don’t worry about being abandoned again. A life where someone calls my name every day. That’s why I’m looking for a family who will be patient as I learn home life step by step, who will use gentle voices instead of force, and who will promise that I will never return to a cage again. Will you be my very first family? Please let the rest of my life be remembered not for sadness — but for love. 🖤🐾

Story
Hiya! My name is MOY. Me and my pal POPEYE are a BONDED PAIR and MUST go to a home together! Here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Chihuahua mix Age: Approx. 1 year old Gender: Male Weight: 8.4 lbs (3.7 kg)  Height: 33 cm (paws to shoulders), 43 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 48 cm (head to butt) Neck: 23 cm Chest: 38 cm Current Location:  Mexico City RESCUE STORY - Me and Popeye were rescued together two months ago. We used to live on the street with a few homeless alcoholics. It’s believed we taken from somewhere else, as the homeless people didn't have us one day and then showed up with us the next. Unfortunately, we were mostly tied up and had little chances to move. Me and Popeye were kept hungry and dirty. At rescue, we were both dirty and underweight but fortunately, had no serious health issues. Our rescuers have searched for our "original owners" (if we had any) but nobody has come to claim us. SO... now we're hoping and praying that a lovely family in the Pacific North West will want to give us both a loving home together! After all we've been through, we have kinda "trauma bonded" together and are inseparable now. I get pretty stressed out when we are separated (video). TEMPERAMENT - I am friendly and very affectionate with people I know and trust (video) and am more reserved with people I have never met (video, video 2, video 3). I am pretty chill (for a chihuahua) and don't appear to bark much or show any aggressive behaviours. I am curious when outdoors and hope to have more opportunities to explore nature when we go to our forever home. I am dog friendly and absolutely need my buddy Popeye as my companion; we walk (video), play, eat, cuddle (video, video 2), and sleep next to each other. We have shown that we are essentially each other's "emotional support animal", so our rescuers want us to be adopted together.   We were only recently rescued (Sept. 2025) from pretty unsafe and unstable conditions, where our movements were quite restricted. We are getting used to the new environment of the shelter. When together, we are way more confident. I think the ideal adopter for me and Popeye should be aware that we will need some time to get used to a new home, but also expect us to grow into very affectionate, playful furry companions with time! :) ENERGY LEVEL - Low - Both Popeye and I are pretty chill, low energy dudes! Once comfortable in our new home, I'm sure we'll come out of our shells a bit, but I don't think we'll ever be crazy energetic boys. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs –  Yup! At the shelter, Popeye and I live with dogs of all sizes. We get along with everybody. We eat together with other dogs and show no resource guarding. We can be a bit uneasy when meeting doggos when on leash, but you can see here we warm up pretty quickly. Proper introductions on leash (parallel walks etc.) and advocating for our space will be essential to us getting comfortable! Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress! I don't get to go out on walks very often, so I will need some leash work (video). I'm curious when outdoors and don't appear to be bothered by fast driving cars or noise. I am hoping to find an adopter to help me become more confident and find the joy of going out on walks! Here are some videos of me and Popeye walking together on leash (video, video2). A calm, confident owner will be helpful in us learning to walk confidently! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My bonded pair adoption fee (with Moy) is $1,568.00 CAD including tax ($1400 + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes both of our adoption fees, vet costs, and airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. **Note: Currently, Juhee is in Korea, but upon adoption she will arrive in Vancouver. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.BackgroundJuhee was rescued from a puppy mill in Boryeong, Korea in the summer of 2023. After her rescue, she stayed at a local shelter before moving to our partner boarding house. Since then, she has been living quietly alongside other dogs, slowly discovering what a safe and loving life feels like.Personality and SocializationJuhee has a moderate energy level and a soft, gentle personality. She is a sweet and easygoing girl who is a pleasure to be around. She approaches both people and other dogs in a calm and friendly way. Juhee enjoys affection and loves being close to her people, often choosing to stay nearby and share quiet moments together.Around other dogs, Juhee is polite and respectful. She gets along well with others and enjoys their company. While she is not the type of dog who actively seeks out play, she is comfortable simply spending time alongside them. She prefers calm companions and is not a fan of overly vocal or dominant dogs. She has no experience with cats or young children, but with a proper and slow introduction, she will likely adjust well.BehaviourJuhee does not show signs of separation anxiety. She is calm and cooperative during vet visits, walks nicely on leash, and behaves well during bath time. She also travels quietly in the car. She is trained to use pee pads and also does well with outdoor potty. Juhee is not vocal and has a relaxed, easy nature. She may feel a little nervous in a new environment at first, but settles in as she becomes more comfortable.Health and DietJuhee is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and on regular parasite prevention. She has a mild tracheal collapse (grade 1). She was on medication for two weeks, and her coughing has now stopped. She may need medication again, or she may continue to do well without it. Sudden changes in environment, stress, and weight gain can contribute to this condition. In any case, her future family should be aware of this condition and be committed to providing her with the care she may need. Juhee currently eats kibble. She is healthy and ready for her forever home.Ideal HomeJuhee is a gentle and adaptable girl who does not ask for much. She would do well in many types of homes. What matters most is a family who can spend time with her and not leave her alone for long periods. She is a loving, snuggly companion who enjoys being close to her people. Juhee has so much quiet love to give, and the family who welcomes her will be gaining a deeply devoted and gentle friend.**Note: Currently, Juhee is in Korea, but upon adoption she will arrive in Vancouver. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.

Story
Adopt Bibi   Bibi is a sweet little Pom mix who survived a city shelter euthanasia list and is now waiting for a loving forever home. She may be a little shy at first, but once she trusts you, her affectionate and loyal personality truly shines.   Name: Bibi Age: 6 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Pomeranian Mix Color: Black/Brown Weight: 6.2 kg Height: 31 cm   Rescue Story Bibi was rescued from a city shelter before euthanasia.   Personality & Socialization with People Bibi can be slightly shy when meeting new people, but treats quickly help her warm up. Once comfortable, she allows handling easily and becomes very attached to the person caring for her. She enjoys following her trusted people around and has a gentle, affectionate nature. She can be picked up comfortably with arms under her belly, and once bonded, she will even show her tummy. She has not yet been tested with children under 13 years old.   With Other Dogs Bibi politely greets unfamiliar dogs but prefers spending time on her own rather than actively playing. She tends to feel uncomfortable around large dogs or very high-energy, pushy dogs and usually chooses to avoid them.   With Cats When she sees cats during walks, she stays focused on her handler rather than reacting strongly.   Energy Level & Walks During walks with unfamiliar people, Bibi tends to move slowly and focus on sniffing. However, once she bonds with someone, she becomes much more cheerful and enjoys walks happily. After settling in, she walks very well.   Other Notes • No food guarding toward people or dogs • Quiet and calm personality • No separation anxiety observed • Calm inside a kennel/crate • Nervous about getting into cars and prefers being carried in • Currently uses both pee pads indoors and potty outdoors   Bibi would do best in a calm and patient home that can give her time to build trust and confidence at her own pace. Once she opens her heart, she becomes a truly loving companion. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram!
