Story
Mr Bear is a sweet and shy boy who needs a quiet home with a loving person who can help him transition to the world outside the ranch. A fenced yard is needed because Mr Bear is scared of walking on a leash. Lots of practice is needed in a secure yard first. Mr Bear loves home made food and treats, squeaky stuffies, sleeping under the covers, and loves affection. Mr Bear is approx 8-9 yrs old. He doesn’t care for dogs or cats Apply to: www.embracesociety.ca ##1988866##

Story
Sofia is a gem of a girl – she is approximately 3 and a half years old, 17 lb mix of sugar and spice and everything nice. She is lower energy, and a bit reserved. She doesn’t run up to strangers, she’ll stand back to assess, and then is very friendly. Sofia is good with dogs and cats. She’s a quiet influence at the shelter and not a barker. Sofia was dumped near the SPCA PV sanctuary with her bestie Lucia, and wouldn’t they make an amazing duo? We’d love to adopt them together, but we can’t hold them back from finding a home that loves them if that’s not possible. While at the shelter we can’t confirm if she’s house trained, but it seems she once had a home, so we think its likely that she is. Sofia is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. Sofia is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island). If you think you might be the lucky home for her, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Hello! My name is MOCHA and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Deer head chihuahua Age: 3 years Gender: Female Weight: 9.9 lbs (4.5 kg)  Height: 34 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 46 cm (head to butt) Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My rescue story is one of resilience and hope. Three months ago, I was found abandoned in a cardboard box outside the shelter on a rainy night, heavily pregnant and in poor condition with my daughter, Cappuccina. We were both very skinny and struggling with visible signs of scabies, likely victims of an illegal breeding facility. But I’m so grateful to the caring rescuers who brought us in. With their support, I’ve started to heal and thrive, and now I’m ready to embrace a brighter future in a loving home! Here I am with my daughter at the shelter! And here we are getting treats! We would love to stay together, but this is not necessary for adoption. TEMPERAMENT - I’m a playful pup with a heart full of curiosity! Life at the shelter can be a bit overwhelming—I don’t get to go out much, but when I do, I get super excited by all the sounds, smells, and other dogs. I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, but I promise I’m trying my best! I can be a little shy at first, especially around new people and cars zooming by, but give me just half an hour, and I’ll start to warm up and seek your affection. I love being petted! I share my space with a mix of small and medium dogs, and a big, calm buddy, and we have fun playing together. I’m not picky about food, and I’ve met cats and birds without any fuss. While I haven’t met kids yet, I’m ready to find my forever home where I can grow more confident and show you just how much love I have to give! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I love to play and explore, but I’m also all about those cozy snuggles and gentle cuddles! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown.  Dogs –  Yes. I share my space with a mix of small and medium dogs, and a big, calm buddy dog, and we have fun playing together. Here I am with other dogs. Cats – Unknown.  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. Here is a video of me acting indifferent to birds while out on a walk! I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. in Canada, so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. I haven’t had much opportunity to work on my leash skills so I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Here I am on a walk! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. My scabies have healed quickly, I have put on weight, and I am healthy and active since being at the shelter. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 (including taxes), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Story
Would you be my Angel? DODIE You will find me an incredibly sweet-natured dog. I am a Chihuahua/Spitz mix, about 7 yrs old. I stand 16 inches at the shoulder and weigh 30 lbs.  It is unknown what originally happened to me, but due to a broken back my back legs are paralyzed. I have an awesome wheelchair that I LOVE to zip around in (especially outside!) and I'm a great walking companion. Currently, I take two 30 min walks a day which seems ideal for me. When I'm out on walks people seem to be amazed by me; my legs may be damaged but my spirit isn't! Many want to pet me (which is awesome) and they tell my foster mom what an angel she is for taking care of me. My foster mom thinks I'm a special girl and worthy of lots of love, for which I'm forever grateful. I would just love an angel to give me a home of my own forever. I walk at a steady pace. I even get a little zoomie energy and like to have a bit of a run, especially if one of those pesky squirrels are about! Otherwise, I like to take time to sniff the flowers, look up at the birds flying overhead and check out if there are any humans willing to pet me. If I get a little distracted, a little bit of encouragement is all I need to continue. I do like to nap a lot during the day or watch out of the window to see who is out and about. My green frog toy is my favourite thing, and will cuddle up with him to go to sleep at night in my 'play pen'. I LOVE snuggling on the sofa and will ask you to scratch my ears as I can't quite do it myself. I love playing with other dogs at the dog park and in the neighbourhood but I prefer to be with just my human when I'm at home. I tend to ignore cats as long as they don`t bother me. Kids are especially fun if they are old enough to know how to treat me well and give me lots of pets. I am extremely adaptable and very trusting right off the bat, which is rare in a dog that has been through so much! My past is still a mystery, but spending some time in Canada has already opened up my world.  I am so happy to be healthy and am trying to shed a little weight. I've heard my face is adorable and I can make humans laugh with my little pig-like snorts when I stretch. Yup, I'm really quite the character! Ok, I do sometimes snore... but it is the cutest thing ever. With my health in-check, I'm now learning about toys and how much fun they are: https://youtu.be/-KBzykd_RF0. My two main ways of moving myself around, (and I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!) are either dragging on my side/hip or pulling myself forwards in a sort of 'hopping' motion with my legs behind me. I can get some serious speed this way! I like having some rugs to walk on as it can be hard to get a grip on slippy floors. Also, how many dogs do you know that come with their own wheels?! I do...and wow, can I cover ground when I'm rolling down the sidewalk or grass! It would be nice (but not essential) if I had a yard, or at least some safe space/grass, for me to maneuver outside out of my wheelchair. I am able to toilet independently when in motion, I'd love to have access to a safe space to roam. My foster mom currently toilets me frequently during the day to avoid accidents; I am getting much better at letting her know when I need to go. We have a pretty good routine and with your support my infrequent accidents can be managed/avoided. My current foster mom will fill you in on how marvelous I am and how easy it is to guide me through my daily routines. If you want a spunky small gal with a zest for life and an infectious optimism, I'm the one for you! I would LOVE to meet you!! I have been spayed and am currently vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is by donation. Story
Hello everyone!  Are you looking for a beautiful wee girl?  I am Momo a, 8 year old female Chi cross.  I weigh 13 pounds and stand 11 inches tall. I was a lifelong stray in S Korea before being adopted in Canada 3 years ago. Unfortunately, my adopter is having to move from a house to somewhere that may not allow pets. She is heartbroken but she knows that there is a kind and caring prospective adopter out there who will be an amazing adopter for me. Perhap's that's you?!  So here's an update on the marvelous me....my trusted humans always receive a warm welcome from me, bum wags included. I am not a gal who has ever been one to play with toys but I do like to hangout with the cat in my current home. My human says that she thinks we both look on the other as our litter mate! I am also well-mannered with the groomer and the vet. One thing about me is that I remain quite a nervous dog when out in the neighbourhood so it's important that I'm on a leash right beside my human. I also may need some leash-walking skills as my current humans have developed some health issues which prevents them from taking me for walks. I would love to have a calm, confident human who could take me walking in a quiet neighbourhood and then bring me home for a nap on a heating pad. Yes, you read this right. I'm often a chilly pup so I greatly enjoy warm naps on a heating pad. While I'm not known to be a huge cuddler, I have many other ways to show my humans how much I love them....and I would SO love to show you how much I am able to love! HISTORY: Being a stray for so long, initially I was quite scared of strangers, (people are not always kind to strays), but while I spent so long with the wonderful people at WDK (I was heartworm positive, which was cleared Aug 18th, 2021) they gave me extensive socialization training.  Slowly I have opened my heart to people.  Initially shy at first, I am no longer wary with people.  I am quite smart and have so much love to give. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buheyh_woAI&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=1 If people approach me slowly and carefully, (especially if they have treats!) I allow them to pet me.  Since younger children move quickly and are louder, they may startle me, so no kids under 12 please.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnBJ-H-SySo&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=2.   If big dogs approach me, I may warn the other dog off, but when I know them, that is different and I don't mind being around them at all.  Here is me meeting a big dog.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p7my2y-XSE&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=3  With little dogs I am much more welcoming, even if they are cranky little ones.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XucGtVuIOJU&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=4.  If you have a cat, that would be fine, I show no interest in them (but see above update on this).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWDuBilVNLI&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=5 During walks, I follow my handler's lead quite well.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9JxenBLVts&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=7, though when scared I can resist moving sometimes.  After building a strong bond, I can be recalled well off leash, but be wary because I was a stray for so long, I need to be kept on a leash until we have that bond.   My handler says I have a moderate amount of energy, and love spending time with affectionate people.  She says I used to have some fear aggression, but after so much training I no longer show any aggression.  I am very food motivated, which speaks well towards my trainability.  I have not shown any resource guarding issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp9xrBrtykY&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyEvqKOvAHMqE5inHj66tYl&index=6, no separation anxiety and rarely bark.   So what do you say?  Are you the home that will let me show how much love I have to give?  Apply for me today!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee of $650 + tax, includes my airfare to Vancouver or Seattle.
