Story
Coco and her siblings were lucky - their pregnant mum wandered onto a property on the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, where she captured the heart of a local rescuer. Coco is two years old, weighs 19lbs and is currently in foster in Nanaimo, BC. She is a timid girl who needs to go very slow with people and likes to take her time to assess if it’s safe from a distance. She spent her early life with limited exposure to the world, so she’d like a quiet non-urban home. Coco has lived with dogs and cats and goes slowly meeting new dogs but eventually enjoys playing. Coco will want the comfort of another dog in the home to help her feel happy and safe and would also love a yard. Coco is housetrained, healthy and vaccinated. Coco is gentle but would prefer a home without kids – they sure move fast and with a lot of noise! If you’d like to apply, please email us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and let us know a bit about how this might be a match.

Story
🏠 Currently in a Vancvouer foster homeHi… my name is Kkamang 🖤I’m a 1 year and 6 month old Chihuahua mix boy, just 5kg (11 lbs) — small enough to fit in your arms, and hoping to fit in your heart too.I was rescued from a dog meat farm. Since the day I was born, I didn’t know what it felt like to have someone call my name. No warm arms. No soft whispers. I wasn’t a “someone” — I was just… there. Inside a metal cage, each day wasn’t about learning. It was about enduring. I learned how to be quiet. How to wait. How to survive. So when I first meet someone new, I pause for a moment. It doesn’t mean “go away.” It means, “Is it really safe this time?” But if you offer me a gentle voice… a small treat… a little patience, my tiny wall falls very quickly. Because the truth is — I like people. I always have. Once I know you, I’m much more affectionate than you’d expect. I’ll press my little body right next to you, sit close, and look into your eyes as if I’m asking for love. No one ever taught me how to be loved, but somehow, I know how to want it.I get along quietly and peacefully with other dogs too. I don’t cause trouble. I know how to share space and not feel lonely.Home life, though… that will be new for me. A house. Daily routines. Rules about where to potty. Time spent alone. I may make mistakes. I may be clumsy at first. But those moments won’t be because I’m lacking — they’ll simply be signs of a life I was never given the chance to learn. Please wait for me. Please teach me slowly. If you do, I will trust you with my whole heart. I will become a deeply loving, loyal little family member who believes completely in my person.I was born just to survive. Now, I want to live. I want a life where I don’t fear being sent back to a cage. A life where I don’t worry about being abandoned again. A life where someone calls my name every day. That’s why I’m looking for a family who will be patient as I learn home life step by step, who will use gentle voices instead of force, and who will promise that I will never return to a cage again. Will you be my very first family? Please let the rest of my life be remembered not for sadness — but for love. 🖤🐾

Story
Sweet Wally recently travelled from Riverside, California with our rescue transport. Wally is a sweet shy little man looking for the family he's never had. He was rescued as a stray, terrified and alone. But despite all the big changes in his life, he continues to be gentle, easy to handle and sweet. Wally is timid when you first meet him, but it's easy to see how much he wants to trust you and feel safe. His tiny presence makes us swoon whenever he is around - because he is that cute. Wally loves other kind and well-mannered dogs. He also lives well with dog-savvy cats. We think he would make a fantastic companion for family with a home that enjoys cuddling and movie nights in. He is very quiet, non food aggressive and would be very happy to have another pup to show him the ropes and let him know that he is secure and finally part of a loving family.

Story
Olivia is the sweetest pup looking for a family to shower her with cuddles & affection. She is the most gentle girl who loves nothing more than lounging on a couch in a pile of blankets with her people. Whenever she wants more pets, she will gently place her paws on your leg and ask for more love. She is absolutely impossible to resist with her soulful eyes and sweet demeanor. Olivia is great with people, cats & dogs and her tail will not stop wagging if she sees a dog outside! She is not a big fan of the Vancouver weather but is slowly getting used it and enjoys sniffing around outside when the sun is out. She is non-destructive at home and will either be in the same spot when you return or wagging her tail ready to greet you at the door.
