IMPORTANT!! Due to time and staffing constraints, ALL inquiries/questions MUST BE accompanied by your completed Adoption Application (Matchmaking Questionnaire). See above for the link to the form. Any inquiries/questions sent without the completed form will NOT receive a response. Thank You for understanding. Affectionate "special needs" Ginger is 4 years old and in search of a loving home that is as special as she is. Ginger had a rough start in life and for the first year of her puppyhood she was strictly confined in a tiny crate with only a few potty breaks. As a result, she suffers from claustrophobia and is terrified of leashes. Despite all this, Ginger is a loving and friendly girl who likes nothing better than to jump up on your lap for a tummy rub, or sit beside you on the couch watching TV. She also loves sleeping in bed with you. She likes toys and chew bones and running around out in the back yard. Ginger is good with other pets and us perfectly potty trained. She uses the doggie door and never makes a mess. Ginger would be the ideal companion for someone who doesn't take their dog for a walk and just wants a friendly and loving pet to be their best friend. Her adoption fee is $125 and includes her spay and all shots.

Story
Meet Buffy, a 4-year-old, 12 lb chi mix looking for her forever home!   Background: For several days, Buffy and her pal Greta were running around terrified and unable to be caught by concerned neighbors. HARTT stepped in to help trap these girls and they made their way to loving foster homes where they await forever homes. Personality: Buffy is a snuggle pro who loves to relax. She is a laid back and loving girl who can’t get enough of her favorite people. She follows her foster mom all around and loves to lay beside her whenever possible. Overall, she is an easy dog who just wants to find her best friend. Could that be you?  Health: Buffy is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped.   Training: Buffy is house-trained, crate-trained, and uses a dog door. She is not leashed trained.  Ideal Home: Buffy would love a home where she isn’t left alone too much. We are unsure how she is around small children. She coexists with other dogs but really loves to be with her people and would prefer not to share. She exhibits jealousy when other dogs seek attention from her people and would do best as the only dog in the home. Since Buffy doesn’t enjoy leash walks, a secure, fenced-in yard is a must to keep her safe.   Adoption Requirements: Buffy’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  November 5, 2024, 8:51 pm

Story
Meet Cosmo, a cute little 3 y/o, 15 lb chi mix.  Background: Cosmo was brought in with two chi friends after being abandoned and forced to live on the streets. They were fed by neighbors for almost a year before we were called to help.   Personality: Cosmo is on the shyer side but opening up more every day in his foster home. He is sweet, calm, and gets along with all people and dogs of all sizes. He loves belly rubs and snuggling on the couch. Health: Cosmo is up to date on all vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. At some point, Cosmo may have been hit by a car, fracturing his leg. He has a little limp now, but the injury is healed and it doesn’t slow him down.   Training: Cosmo is house-trained and crate-trained.  Ideal Home: Cosmo would love a doting family who will care for him the way every dog deserves, inside a comfortable and loving home. Cosmo enjoys the company of other dogs and would enjoy a companion. A secure, fenced-in yard is required to keep him safe.  Adoption Requirements: Cosmo’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Meet 16 pound 7 year old Georgia! “Meet Georgia, an irresistibly adorable Chihuahua with a sweet and mild temperament. She’s trained to use a dog door, loves spending time in the yard, and gets delightfully excited when spotting her furry friends on TV. Georgia’s loving owner had to move to a care facility, and now Georgia and her equally sweet sister, Stella, are looking for a new family. While it would be wonderful to keep these bonded sisters together, the urgency of their situation means they can be adopted separately if needed. Either way, they’ll bring love and joy to your home!   Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. Meet 12 pound 7 year old Stella! “Meet Stella, a precious and playful Chihuahua with a heart full of love. She adores dancing in circles when she’s happy and curling up on your lap for cuddles. Stella is a little special and needs some extra attention with potty training, but her sweet nature makes it all worthwhile. Her loving owner had to move to a care facility, and now Stella and her mild-tempered sister, Georgia, are looking for a new family. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Cisco and I am a sweet, laid back 8-pound, 12 year-old male Apple head Chihuahua mix who wants nothing more than to have a home again. Coco (also at helpadogsmile.org) and Cisco were very loved little dogs, who have been lifelong friends, found themselves homeless when their trusted human had to enter memory care. These two love each other, are housetrained and just had dentals! Yes they can be separated but we would love to see them stay together. They are the odd couple with Cisco with his love to be held and busy little personality while Coco is a bit more laid back...she loves to follow you around and sit with you BUT a tad wary of being scooped up!  Cisco is a little tiny bundle of personality. He knows what he wants and he will give it his all to let you know what he wants with his quirky little bark. I am house-trained and my favorite thing is to sleep and watch tv with you.  I know I would make an excellent addition to your loving home.  I get along fine with small dogs in my foster home but as I am older now I don’t play as much Cisco is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you want to adopt both Cisco and Coco they would be $400 for the pair! If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
